Great video. I just purchased a new power unit last week after I connected all the wiring I tried to get it started but it didn’t work! What would you suggest me to do ! It only make small sounds but nothing is moving, would that be some air in it, will I have to keep it running for few minutes! Or wiring are connected wrong! Any suggestions would be great thank you 🙏🏻
If it's only making a small sound, I would confirm your power is connected properly. If the power unit is designed for 220v, confirm you have both hot wires with 110v between each wire and the ground or 220v across both hots. Even when I primed my unit, it was loud and shook from the torque, so my guess is you are missing something in the wiring.
I have a scissor lift that started acting on me when I was trying to lift a vehicle yesterday. When I plugged the 110v cord into the wall, the motor kept running (but I was not pressing the switch) the lift was not going up even the motor was running. It seemed like it was running weaker than normal though. I thought it was a switch. I removed the switch to eliminate it, and plugged the power again and it did the same thing. motor kept running but hoist not going up. I followed the wires to see if I can find a motor control and I found 1 capacitor like you just talked about in your video. Is it fair to assume that would be the next place to check? Would that capacitor cause it to run continuously? Thanks for your video btw it was hard to find information .

If it is a 110v motor, you should have hot (usually black) wire, a neutral (usually white), and a ground (usually green). The hot should go through the switch and should only complete when you push the switch. When you say you removed the switch, I assume you didn't bridge the hot wires back together that were on the switch? So you would expect nothing to happen when you plug in. Since you are hearing something happen, it may mean you have current going through the neutral. Usually when that happens, it is less than 110v and could cause the issue you are having. If you can, turn off all devices in your garage and turn off all breakers except for the outlet the lift is using. Plug in the lift. If you don't hear noise, that means another circuit may be improperly back-feeding power into your lift circuit's neutral wire.
Yes, I think my terminology was incorrect. The outer casing is the windings/stator and the inner rotor is the armature? Honestly, after all of the issues I have been dealing with, my brain is complete mush. 🤪
