- Letter by 600 lawyers “a threat to the judiciary”; “they don’t speak in their own voice”; "CJI guilty of fixing benches”: former Additional Solicitor General Indira Jaising to Karan Thapar for The Wire.
In a hard-hitting and often passionate interview about the letter written by 600 lawyers (including Harish Salve) to the Chief Justice of India, alleging “a vested interest group is trying to pressure the judiciary”, and to also speak about two articles she has written in response (The Wire and the Indian Express), former Additional Solicitor General and one of the leading lights of the legal profession, Indira Jaising, has said “the letter is a threat to the judiciary”. She says that in contrast to its claim that unnamed lawyers are trying to “pressure the judiciary, influence judicial process and defame our Courts”, this letter is guilty of doing just that.

True…, I have also enjoyed many of her Interviews. She is straight forward and not give up to her conclusions.
Very fortunate to listen to very lively open discussion with people like Indira Jaising, which only a person of the stature of Karan Thapar could do. But one thing is clear the fight between truth and untruth is everywhere, at every level and in every hook and corner of the world. There is always some strange satisfaction listening to people who stand out for the sake of truth, giving a hope that all is not lost as yet in this country, that perhaps things will change for the better someday.

It’s unfortunate that a lawyer of Harish Salve’s stature has become stooge to the ruling party of the day. He is seeing every unconstitutional steps being taken by modi, yet he decided to support him. How much more money he wants to make for which he has to bow down before modi and his coterie?
Most of the Lawyers are always devil's advocates. He's bin devil's advocate for years fighting for murders and rapists as well.

Our RBI adopted Digital Technology perhaps world class today after UPI .. Where is our Judiciary ? 9000 MT papers they use ( LEGAL PAPER not A4 size and BRITISH SYSTEM OF ONE SIDE PRINT ) etc.. Our lawyers basically dropouts in their 12th standard Science stream have very little analytical ability . Biggest statement our lawyer can say is " THAT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL " there it ends. Indira Jaisingh was spot on. CJI is only balancing his acts. He has to please both, still try to be neutral by supporting such special benches. I endorse Indiraji's views. Let's call a spade a spade. Thanks to Karan,& Indira for the excellent views. Eminent people of all colours are always aloof and stand for all things of utmost good for all people irrespective of any political party. For them the Nation comes first. Political parties can never take a stand which is always impartial to one and all. It is complicated because CHANGES is always constant and vary with time and situation. Many people take sides only for money. Patriotism is completely on the decline as never before. Jai Hind.
This is absolutely awesome. Thank you for interviewing her. We don't see her on TH-cam as often as many other lawyers. Why does Karan try to browbeat her when she is expressing her views so clearly without being partisan in any way?
He isn't browbeating her rather he is provoking her and I'm sure he has her permission to do so :) It is a journalistic tactic to extract sharp content and a very effective one. This interview is so effective and Ms Jaisingh is able to lead us to such critical tenets that remind this nation who we really are, as defined by the Constitution and not the malicious, lowly consciousness that this dispensation is trying to turn us into, is because of this very provocation. Ms Jaisingh is such a righteous and stellar voice.
She is giving a measured and honest reply. Everything is not about answering yes or no on Karan Thapar's reinterpretations of what she is saying so eloquently. The best journalism consists in drawing out a person to say what they think, not in putting words in their mouth.

Another very intrusive but very enjoyable interview, because on the table across Karan Thapar was a very intelligent as well as humane person and above that- a woman (by Gods grace they have a more feeling heart).
With age I have now been able to understand a little of what Lord Krishna said in Gita - In this world there are two types of powers "Aasuri" & "Devi". They both reside in each of us in differing proportion irrespective of how much well read or अंगूठा छाप ; well known or unknown ; powerful or ordinary we may be.
And simultaneously, some of our actions are also guided by the chair that we are occupying.
Even Karan Thapar would have been a little different than what he appears to be, had he not been sitting on that chair when conducting the interview.
I would like the program the way it is.Karan ,I support you whole heartedly. Please increase your frequency &wavelength currently for the DEMOCRACY to survive in India

That’s a fine interview but can’t ignore the pinch of sadness and pressure at the end when Ms Jaising hoped she doesn’t get any FIRs for her statements.
Prominent people from different professions, especially who are working in Government/constitutional institutions, should come forward and disclose the malignant designs and actions of the government. It's their sacred responsibility to educate the Indian citizens before the votings.
