Hey man, great video but Screenrant is genuinely one of the worst sources for lists in the entirety of the internet, I've seen the list you referenced and it's genuinely baffling, it's like someone who JUST got into pokémon decided to check their stats and decide on their own without asking anyone else, just like you said, Mega Gyarados was an insane threat in both VGC and Smogon singles, that god awful list put mega DIANCIE in the weakest category and didn't even mention absolute world beaters like Mega Kangaskhan and Mawile, both who were great in VGC and banned in Singles, so my takeaway is that you made a good video showcasing the upgrades in Elite Redux, but Screenrant is an awful source for anything and you should consider asking genuine and more accomplished players instead.

But it's a doubles oriented cleric, which is fine, but to use it, you had to give up on using staples like Mawile, Kangaskhan, Gardevoir, and Salamence for a pokemon whose role was to support mons who weren't as good as them. Curious how they buffed it in Elite redux.
@rjante2236 Yep, healer doesn't even work on the user, so regenerator make audino a better cleric in singles. I'll commend them for trying to make a mega that's meant to support it's teammates but it's clear they didn't put any thought into how to make such a concept enticing or good.
For Emerald Redux, Megaudino gets to keep Regenerator, but also has Natural Cure, Serene Grace, aaaand Healer again, god dammit. It’s still a good mixed wall and has a tolerable Special Attack, but Blissey gets the option of free Leftovers and also gets Super Luck, with no Mega stone involved. Yes, it also gets Healer for free. Also Mega Quagsire is probably cracked as hell, but ultimately isn’t viable in the Showdown server because why are you spending a Mega stone on a defensive Pokemon that isn’t Sableye? Base Quag with an item is genuinely better. Also Audino proper is one of those Mons with only three abilities max. Please let this Pokemon do anything cool
okay i'm barely a minute into this video and whoever wrote that Banette has the worst mega can catch these fucking fists i desperately wish that mega banette was just.. it's third evolution. the design is exactly what the line needed to feel complete, and it's one of my fave megas. and of course mega absol is great, every emo kid's dream lmao (..i know most of these were based on like.. stats and stuff, but i'm not a comp player so idc about the meta lmao i just like good designs)

Im really shocked that Mega Banette and Gyrados are considered "bad". Banette is an AMAZING anti-sweeper with stuff like priority twave and destiny bond, as well as a high attacking stat for stab poltergiest. Gyrados is an outclassed but still decent sweeper with Moxie boosts and DD, especially since it finally got crunch in gen 7. Absol is bad though. Its only niche is being a magic bounce pokemon but its too fragile to be good at that since most hazard setters can one shot it from full.
Going to be quite honest, I don't see the appeal of Mega Bannette at all other than some middling cheese that while unable to be replicated by pokemon, is kind of a waste. It's certainly not helped by an ambiguous niche due to its fairly strange kit. Subpar bulk for a status spreader utility mon, a speed stat far too slow for a sweeper and too fast for a trick room mon, as well as the lack of a boosting move and decent coverage for a wallbreaker. Prankster Destiny Bond sounds great up until you realize you're wasting a Mega slot for a trade. There's a lot of other anti-sweeper pokemon that don't waste a Mega slot, after all. It also lacks proper coverage to support its sky high Attack - what happens when your opponent simply switches in something that doesn't mind Poltergeist or Knock Off? And if that something is a Dark Type that outspeeds (Not like that's a difficult thing to find), it's a goner. It's not the worst Mega, that goes to Mega Audino, but it's really not all that. Also I frankly disagree with the Absol comments as well - Magic Bounce is an incredible ability that doesn't benefit just bulky mon. Being immune to status is a huge boon, especially for a pokemon built for attacking. Its poor bulk is admittedly an issue, but that doesn't dissuade it from fulfilling its role as an attacker. Hell, I'd argue it has more utility than Mega Banette does - Knock Off and Pursuit in tandem with Magic Bounce shuts down and traps many other offensive pokemon. In fact, if we compare the two viability wise, Mega Absol has been ranked higher than Mega Banette - UU/RUBL vs RU.

Prankster HARD CARRIES the mon, its offenses arent really important since its coverage sucks and doesnt use much outside of 3 notable moves (shadow sneak, poltergiest, knock off). Its a support mon who focuses on crippling and debuffing the enemy first and foremost (ex. sableye), its stats just werent properly distributed to support this which leads to its inconsistency. Its an off meta pick but it works decently well on HO teams who lack a reliable way to counter sweepers like Greninja. As for Mega Absol? In a vacuum yeah magic bounce is amazing and easily one of the best abilities ever since it also blocks stuff like taunt and phazing which helps its offenses, which helps with role compression. Its just outclassed by Mega Sableye and Hatterene as a magic bouncer due to them offering better support to their team and have much better longetivity over the course of a match. Its probably amazing in UU where it lacks competition for its role, but in OU its horrifically bad bulk leads it to being a victim of speedcreep and get used as setup fodder for battle bond or beast boost sweepers.

Wolfe used it with willowisp/protect/disable/Pain Split. It absolutely crushes offense, physical especially. Prio Disable is something only it can do, and it straight up skips a mons turn and potentially forces it to switch out. It's a disgusting combo. Could it have been better stated to support that? Sure, but it has a niche and does it well.
Mega Banette and Mega Absol were always kind of weirdly designed, imo. Mega Banette gets _165 Attack_ and these _massive Ghost claws,_ yet for some reason has Prankster? I guess the mindset was to let it fire off priority Pain Splits and eventually Destiny Bonds... but its movepool isn't support heavy enough to make it work. Sableye worked with Prankster back in Gen 5 because it had access to Recover and could make use of moves like Trick (even then, apparantly it fell to UU in Smogon Gen 5. RIP). For Mega Banette, you fire off a Will-O-Wisp and then try to stall with Pain Split... after you just gave your opponent residual damage and thus heal a bit less every turn. It should have gotten Tough Claws, because come on: Mega Aerodactyl gets Tough Claws, and those rock shards on its wings aren't even anatomically its fingers (unless they mean its puny talons that didn't even grow from mega evolution should be counted as "Tough Claws"). While in retrospect Poltergeist wouldn't have been boosted, it would still then keep access to Shadow Claw for a more consistent 91 bp option and its other useful moves like Knock Off and Sucker Punch would have been boosted. For Mega Absol, Magic Bounce gave it a lot of utility, but it could have really used an offensive booster. Dark Aura would have been nice for both Singles and Doubles, but Game Freak probably wanted to keep it as a Legendary signature ability. Sharpness would have been nice, but it was invented a whole 3 gens later. An ability that could have worked would have been a Dark-type Pixilate, which would have given it thematically fitting Slash (more so than Night Slash) as well as boosted STAB Facade and Double-Edge off of base 150 Attack. Super Luck could fit its crit boost heavy moveset, but being a mega without access to its itemslot it really needs a +2 crit variant to really work. As for Mega Gyarados, I agree that it isn't actually bad like the article implies. It loses Moxie, but gaining Mold Breaker _and_ keeping its Moxie boosts helps it break through Unaware and Water Absorb mons (and Shedinja, though it naturally dies to Crunch anyways). Wolfe won florida regional back in 2015 with M-Bannette using "Will-O-Wisp/Protect/Disable/Pain Split". It was actually pretty legit as an anti offense 'Mon. No other Mon could do what it does, especially prio Disable. Its not amazing by any means, but it does have the tools it needs to have a pretty cool niche.

Base bannete pretty much plays like an incin for special attackers thanks to scare. It hits hard and has priority, but is slightly frailer and its only pivot move is parting shot. There is a surprising amount of soundproof mons in the game which can be annoying when it catches you off guard.
Romhackers be like: “Yeah, so what if it’s a 165 Base Attack mega with Stab Shadow Sneak? It’s not useful in every situation, so it’s not fun enough. So let’s give it legendary tier stats and give it the three best abilities in the game all at once. I love game balance!”
Question, consider if you do the whole game in double battles, and you run Incineroar & Mage Banette to keep the pressure on through debuffs & high phys damage, and they can parting shot into each other, making up for each other's type weaknesses
In my experience playing this hack, a another mega that this extremely buff it's mega mawile, I know it's not really a bad mega evolution, but this video still made me remember it, because in this hack not only have huge power, have adaptability, multi head and strong jaw. And this with the steel type fang introduced in this hacks is absolute broken, every run that i do i have a one mega mawile in my Team for indigo league
- Megas either suck (like the ones in this video somehow) or are unbalanced - I know it's subjective but a lot of them look dumb (some are cool though) - Given to more popular Pokémon than ones that need a mega. - Ones that need a mega still suck but rare cases are actually good. Still rare though. Even makes popular Pokémon worse than their normal form like garchomp which defeats the point. So why do people think it's the best gimmick? I'm fine with it being many people's favourite but it isn't perfect like many people say. I'm interested what they'll do with them in the new Legends game though. I don't hate the gimmick but it's not the only gimmick that has issues.
-Many bad megas have bad Pokemon attached to them, leading to them having worse overall performance -agree to disagree -What constitutes needing a Mega? Giving a mega to only the Pokemon who “need” it to compete makes them into *only* their mega, and not themselves. -Garchomp is only worse due to Rough Skin and Rocky Helmet being the best option on it, despite the sand assistance being fine, and its stat increases being helpful. It is also the only example of that.
Yeah, megas blow, at least how gamefreak implemented them and chose who got them. There were like 5 that dominated, and skewed the meta around themselves. They look pretty cool for the most part. Gmax and Tera look silly, but are much more sound balance and distribution-wise. Super fun to play with and around in VGC. Z-Moves are the worst though. They were not balanced at all.

by technicality
Base bannete pretty much plays like an incin for special attackers thanks to scare. It hits hard and has priority, but is slightly frailer and its only pivot move is parting shot. There is a surprising amount of soundproof mons in the game which can be annoying when it catches you off guard.

Question, consider if you do the whole game in double battles, and you run Incineroar & Mage Banette to keep the pressure on through debuffs & high phys damage, and they can parting shot into each other, making up for each other's type weaknesses
In my experience playing this hack, a another mega that this extremely buff it's mega mawile, I know it's not really a bad mega evolution, but this video still made me remember it, because in this hack not only have huge power, have adaptability, multi head and strong jaw. And this with the steel type fang introduced in this hacks is absolute broken, every run that i do i have a one mega mawile in my Team for indigo league

- Megas either suck (like the ones in this video somehow) or are unbalanced
- I know it's subjective but a lot of them look dumb (some are cool though)
- Given to more popular Pokémon than ones that need a mega.
- Ones that need a mega still suck but rare cases are actually good. Still rare though. Even makes popular Pokémon worse than their normal form like garchomp which defeats the point.
So why do people think it's the best gimmick? I'm fine with it being many people's favourite but it isn't perfect like many people say. I'm interested what they'll do with them in the new Legends game though. I don't hate the gimmick but it's not the only gimmick that has issues.
-Many bad megas have bad Pokemon attached to them, leading to them having worse overall performance

-What constitutes needing a Mega? Giving a mega to only the Pokemon who “need” it to compete makes them into *only* their mega, and not themselves.
-Garchomp is only worse due to Rough Skin and Rocky Helmet being the best option on it, despite the sand assistance being fine, and its stat increases being helpful. It is also the only example of that.

They look pretty cool for the most part.
Gmax and Tera look silly, but are much more sound balance and distribution-wise. Super fun to play with and around in VGC.
Z-Moves are the worst though. They were not balanced at all.
