I had one for nearly two years, unfortunately the roads and 63 years age mean that after the two years mean I felt I had to sell it- I regret the sale but unfortunately age has beaten me on this. Lovely bike, I rode it on the track on a Rapid Training track day- I am a mid track rider (at best) , I did have the arrows cans and the trainers (mainly plod and ex plod) loved the sound ! It is pretty and is lovely- I can’t agree that it works on bumpy (Essex) roads but then the roads are cr@p).
I bought it secondhand from Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmund’s - excellent dealer, There are a lot of these available at he moment *July 2024) and deals are there to be had. There is only so much power you can use on the road, if my body was flexible enough to continue riding this bike I would have kept it. It’s beautiful, handles really well and I can’t use the 140 bhp it has - if you can wangle your way onto a secondhand one then they one . I loved mine and selling it was a very difficult decision

But spares! Got a mate who had a minor crash on his (current model) MV. It spent over a year… over a year! waiting for a new petrol tank. The insurance refused to allow him the bike back with the old tank, and he was stuffed, bikeless for over 12 months because MV didn’t have a tank in stock and were waiting on their supplier. He’s now riding a BMW.

@@Helmigurt I’m not talking about the dim and distant past, he only just got the bike back about 5 weeks ago, so KTM ownership was ‘a thing’ while he was waiting… the repaired bike went as part exchange for the Beemer. I own a superveloce 2yrs now. 👍 Nice review 🙏
I have owned several motorcycles Honda harley bmw triumph ducati. The superveloce sounds amazing, it is quite easy to drive and fast. I love it. Regarding reliability after 2 yrs with few miles the battery degrades fast. Always use a charger even if you ride once a week. When the bike stays in the garage for weeks the rear brake loses pressure. Thats why now I keep a dumbbell on the rear brake to keep it under pressure in the garage.
I live in Athens Greece service here is really good comparing to other brands.
For motorcycle enthusiasts mvs are a great option. For a weekend ride superveloce is great!

Always loved the Super Veloce, probably a good thing MV hardly exists in the U.S. or I would have found a way to buy one (obscenely expensive here, Ducati V4S expensive). If I were rich I'd have one just to look at in my garage. Of course if we actually start to see them in KTM dealerships.....Well we have a number of those.

Plus, there's just something 'off' about the proportions of the Superveloce that I can't quite put my finger on.

Exactly, i went to buy one 2 years ago and 10 feet away I was sold. Upon close up inspection some parts look cheap af. The clutch cable, the clutch adjuster, the white plastic plug going to the clutch, the bubbled paint on the tank and the cheap ass powdercoating that looks like it came off of some cheap lawn furniture. The base model Brutale looked like it cost twice as much sitting next to then Superveloce.

I regularly ride mine and I have to agree that it's not the strange little niche bike that people think it is. Sounds as good as it looks and makes 110 mph seem like a bicycle ride. I love it, although I have several reasons why I'd never recommend one.
    1. This isn't specific to just this bike, but all MVs. Valve adjustment every 7.5k miles, and you can't conveniently sweep it under the rug. It's also, at the time of writing, a $1,600 job, plus $350 oil changes every few thousand miles. If you ride it that amount every year, you're spending more than a high-performance German car to keep it running.
    2. Italian bikes run hot. My Aprilia did although it was still okay, but this thing is a literal sauna. It's absolutely fine in the winter (actually it's welcome) but after 15 minutes of riding you're already sweating. It'll be 90 degrees Fahrenheit, bike says 114. While I'm sitting at a light, I believe the bike. Make sure to pack extra water when you go out on a ride or order extra when you sit down.
    3. It's called "Superveloce" for a reason: this bike HATES slow. It loves to sing over 7k RPM, anything under that is an absolute chore for you and the bike. Keep it away from crowded areas, slow traffic, and the most casual type of cruising (yes, it hates that too). For that last one here's an example: spend 6th gear at any speed under 75 mph and it chatters and gets jittery. So if I'm highway cruising, I'm in 4th or 5th (70-90 mph) and save 6th for when you need to go faster than 100.
    4. This one's relatively minor. No fuel gauge, only fuel light. 4 gallon tank. This gets roughly 150 miles of range. Every Sunday I ride ~200 miles so I have to fill up twice. To add to that, the lights on the display are hard to see unless you tint the windscreen, so ALWAYS know your fuel level. Or tint your windscreen.
    5. This one is major: service centers. I used to live 3 miles from one, but after I moved the nearest one is 7 miles away (luckily). The next closest one is all the way across the city 20 miles away, and the next closest one after that is 40 miles away. After that, 100 miles. Keep this in mind, I live in a very motorcycle-centric metropolitan area with that kind of money so people are either not riding their MVs enough to worry about bringing it in for regular service or have the money to just pay someone to bring it there. Finding a place to service your bike if you don't do so yourself could make or break ownership.
    6. Parts are hard to get. I'm waiting on parts for my bike and it's been months since the request was made and no updates. Remember kids, we're no longer in the pandemic plagued with supply chain issues.
    7. Insurance. Do I even need to explain this one?
But despite all that, do I regret buying mine? Not at all. For the dedicated rider, nothing beats the world's fastest cafe racer (it isn't the SV 1000, that's a proper supersport). Okay, so the attention it gets is not worth it, but everything else from riding to just seeing it in your garage is an absolute experience.
Just maybe get a Brutale or Dragster instead and spare your back and wrists.
