Donovan's tender, caring, tone of voice and his respectful, loving words were such a revelation for us hippie women when he first came on music scene. Not even a hint of machismo! His example inspired other men to express their sweetness and sensitivity, and inspired women to receive egalitarian love.

Thank you so much for this, @Alicia Bay Laurel. He’s still one of my musical and cultural heroes, but I’d almost forgotten how important this aspect of Donovan was for me as a teenage flower child trying to find my path in the bewildering world of relationships.😵‍💫

This comment section is just about the most sincere comment section I've ever seen. It makes me feel a nostalgia for s time I wasn't even born for. I wish u could've experienced those great years of the 60s and 70s. Sadly I'm only 17 and good music like this isn't made anymore but I will always appreciate these songs.

This song is my wife Mary Jane and mine, i learned the song in 1971 to impress her with what i thought would be impossible to have, "HER" MY MARY JANE, GOING ON 54 years, i definately thought " AH BUT I MIGHT AS WELL TRY AND CATCH THE WIND" Now i know just how luck i had been to not only catch her, but be with her 54 and counting! So if you think its imposible, just remember she was thinking catching me would be imposible, Thank you with great respect to you and ours "DONOVEN!

Beautiful Donovan. I loved this song from the moment I first heard it as a girl and times were so innocent; the world was so different then. I remember hearing this song on a pop station and became a fan from that moment on. This song so lovely, full of woe and tenderness. Donovan has always been my favourite male folk singer.
So wonderful to see him in concert many times over the years, last time was in Monterey, California.

I was in a shop today and this song was playing. I was listening and knew it to be a song from when I was much younger and then I remembered the artist's name! I asked the lady behind the counter if this was Donovan singing, and she had to look at the playlist to confirm. I can hardly remember yesterday but I remembered this song and Donovan and I doubt I have heard either for a very long time. I'm in my late 60's now and this bought back so many nostalgic memories, and I had to come home and listen to more of Donovan

CLEVELAND Donovan, a folksy British singer-songwriter once labeled "the new Dylan," has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Overlooked by voters in previous years, Donovan has finally been saluted for his accomplishments as a gifted lyricist and musician. Born Donovan Leitch, he blended poetry into folk songs and scored a string of hits in the 1960s with "Sunshine Superman," "Mellow Yellow" and "Hurdy Gurdy Man."
