You are a superb craftsman !! I'm so happy to find your site. I hope to eventually send my beloved 50s 7903 Tudor oyster for a servicing that it so deserves...thanks from Lance in New Zealand.
@@FrenchWatchCollector Yes i have both . the MTare are perform to a higher level but i find the ETA versions are nicer watches to wear , thanks for the vid very intresting
I had a chance to buy one of these about 10 years ago but passed. Soon after an El Primero that I wanted came and I bought that. These Tudor dials have gone up in price but watch collecting is not about that.
It's a nice mouvement, what surprised me and this is probably because my personal preference, the mouvement hasn't got a hacking function. The dial is absolutely stunning and wow the hour hands, they are lovely. Hold on you are telling me Tudor/Rolex is using an outsourced of the shelf ETA mouvement? Oh yes the Black Bays used an ERA to didn't they and are in fact more expensive the the newer once with the in house movements.
@@FrenchWatchCollector Well Rolex is Tudor and Tudor is Rolex. When I called them the other day for a sponsorship for a Tombola I am planning this year for our Charity, they gave me the same email address and I requested a sponsorship from each of them separately but only got one response back so they are defenerey one and the same. I don't know but I wonder if Tudor is Rolexes Comunite Urban because Rolex is a charity and Tudor a business. Although both are owned by Wilsdorf
Tres bien... Im a Tudor fan and this one is great looking after your service. Interesting that that spring broke..- and that replacement parts are relatively easy to find. I noticed you didn't tape or mention the greasing of the pallet jewels. Presumed it was done.. Such a great job on the service, as usual. Merci....
Great work! That Tudor is gorgeous! Any reason why at 14:22 where you cut to use the staking tool it's just frames of your pad and hammering in the background? Doesn't cut back until you are smoothing the hole.
@@FrenchWatchCollector and understand... I meant when you put it into the cleaner/tray I thought you put the main spring on top of the balance in the cleaner tray
Great review, by the way, I find some tudor big rose showing [T swiss T] at 6 o'clock area, since both indexs and hands do not find tritium area, it seems [T] doesn`t mean tritium, do you know what this [ T] mean? Thx!
@@FrenchWatchCollector Tks for quick reply, as u said, if tudor wrongly assembled T swiss T dial on the watch which withoit tritium function, it means tudor mislead not only customer in 60's but till now and future, right?
I was taught to lubricate a smoothing brooch with a drop clock oil when using it. Were you? And do you? Also, did you find out the patent name of these shock jewel assemblies?
@@FrenchWatchCollector I know you also wipe the brooch (I hope I'm spelling that correctly (broach?)) between strokes, and the white cloth would wipe off black, which had to come from the watch. At the very least, it keeps you from contaminating the next pivot hole.
I was having a bad day... But, as usual, seeing this watch restoration calm me down and make my day a little better... Thanks for this!
Glad to help
Would be proud to own that watch
It is a nice one
Love this video. Looking for a Tudor prince big rose 🌹. So loving this video
👍
As always another wonderful job. What an iconic watch. It's good to see it got another chance to shine again. Well done.
Thank you very much

No problem. It is a great watch
Super Video thans very much , i really like Tudor ETA powered watches , and in some examples prefer them such as the Pelagos
Yes they are nice but I prefer when a brand makes their own caliber

You should buy the watch speak to you and not for the value. I prefer as well an el primero over this so I understand your choice
Well done and thank you for posting!!

Perfect excellent as always. Keep well from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Thank you very much Bruce!
Very nice job. It's so much more interesting when there a specific problem to be fixed. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!

Merci 👍
That is a beautiful watch that I would be proud to own. Very nice work.
Love it too
Another nice restoration. It seemed as though the hands were missing any lume, There is lume on the hour markers. Do you intend to lume these hands?
I like to keep it original sometime
Fantastic video as always, will you do a video of your worcking bench where you show your tools?
I will do some videos with the tools and equipment a bit later on. It takes some time but I will do it

Rolex did not use ETA but Tudor did until very recently

Oh man what a stunning watch
I wonder how much one of these go for?
To be fair no clue
Thanks for the vid! Whar was the price of the watch on ebay? If it is not a secret
I did not buy it on ebay. I think it was around 800€

did you put the main spring

Love the waffle dial. It cleaned up very nice. May I ask what solution you used? I've found anything but water to be risky.
Waiting for the answer :D @TFM let him have Friday with family.
I use lighter fluid or naphta
What is the "special product" you used to clean the dial?
I use lighter fluid or isopropyl
Nice video of an OK watch: thank you. P.S. I have just an address for you, though: Watch Repair Channel - great soundtrack.

Normally like you said it is tritium. It might be on the dial because they made one dial for different combo and some are without lume

Hi, does the movement compatible to ETA cal.1080 or cal.1156? Thanks
This is a 1156 and you are right it is the same family as the 1080 so they are compatible
Do you know about Tudor cal.2843-2? Does it compatible to2824-2?
Are Tudor made in Rolex facility or sep assembly ,
I don't know

Would be nice to see you working on pieces that require something beyond a service, notjust out of the box running ebay finds
I did some on my channel already. look at the video on the speedmaster Mark III the blue one for exemple

Nice movement, can you post it for me.
Post it?
😂 Sorry! what Eta movement is it.
