The automakers will often send specially optioned versions of new production cars to the annual Auto Shows to show off the best example of a particular model. In this episode, we're looking at just such a car… a 1967 Dodge Charger with the 426 Hemi V8 that was built for the 1967 International Auto Show. It's a great car and one with a load of cool options from The Brothers Collection.

Pop worked for Chrysler, as a wood model maker, during the 60's and 70's. He worked on the dashboard and arm rests of this car. And yes, he owned one of these. I loved riding in that car!! It is too bad it was totaled, by a stoned out hippie who ran into it with a Galaxy 500, in 1973. I had hoped to own one of these before my time was up on Earth. Doesn't look that is going to happen. Oh well. I have my memories, and lots of video to watch on the web. Thanks for this awesome video!

I had a '66 Charger in the early '70s and LOVED that car. It was VERY dependable and looked great (especially after I fixed it up with mag wheels, "Wide Oval" tires, slightly jacked up in the back (Gabriel High Jackers) and dual exhaust.....the color was B-5 Brite Blue Metallic). Mine also had a RARE factory AM-FM radio in it (very few FM stations back then) and standard PS / PB. These came stock (as you saw in the video) with 4 bucket seats where the rear 2 fold down flat and that console that went all the way to the back. The rear deck would also fold down into the trunk compartment very nicely for those occasional "dates" at the local Drive Inn Theater..... ;-)

Nice ride. When I was in the Navy back in 1972 I was able the buy a '66 Charger 383 4 speed. I had to go on a 6 month deployment. The car was stolen and I was never able to recover it. To this day I miss that car.

Those hubcaps look like the ones on the 64 Malibu Z-16 396 Chevelle that car magazines at the time called the worst fake mag wheel covers ever. Cool Charger though, knew a guy with a red one but was the 383.

The 67 Charger has one of my top 10 favorite interiors of any car made. Chrysler's designers were far better than Ford and most of GM.

67 seemed to be the best looking year for muscle cars no matter what the brand
Love the interior layout on these!
Those hubcaps remind me of hotwheels I had in the 70s and a Big Wheel. lol
Put some rubber under this one she would look mean!

Thanks for this! I wonder if any old school car guys might recognize and remember this 67 from the shows they might have attended? I love this design, probably because it was just about my favorite AMT model I put together in the early 70's. Still have it. Silver on red, and Hemi.

I owned and restored a very similar car. It had the 426, auto, ps, pdb, clock, pw, and the same hubcaps. It was F8 green with a white interior. Original dealer bought it from the factory at auction about a year after it was produced, so it served as a show car or executive car of some sort. Since I farmed out the restoration, I lost my behind when I sold it.

Great video, decent burnout! The thing about the 1st Gen Chargers to me is..thought they look cool on a video or in a magazine..up close and personal, they are just very amazing in the design and execution overall..a very commanding presence and one car i always hope to see at a show.

There was a 67 hemi Charger on eBay a few years back for 80K that was an auto show promo car as well. The deck lid spoiler was also mounted backwards but it had headrests on the front buckets

Not sure but I think its similar to the Charger 500 for 1969 that had exposed headlights to improve better aerodynamics for nascar although we know that that would soon but be any better untill the Dodge Charger Daytona.

Nothing really like it in the musclecar world when it comes to the inside. Hidden headlights and full width tailight lens shows they worked that bodystyle for all it was worth. I mean, what can you say about the shape of that rear window? Ingenius is what comes to my mind.

    A do-over might be a Coronet 500 or the 67 RT.

Fastback Coronet, but that's ok, because the Coronet was a sweet ride, and this car was the predecessor too the legendary, the mythical 1969 Charger. That aside, this '67 is a very good looking car. Very long, but they managed to style it just right, that it doesn't look as big as it really is. I would certainly not object to driving one.

the original Chargers were all beautiful TWO-DOOR vehicles! .. as they should have been! .. why on earth they morphed into ugly 4-door models is beyond comprehension! Great-looking muscle cars have TWO DOOR bodies! .. not bank robber get away car looking 4-door models!

The 1968 thru 1970 Charger was so much nicer and futuristic looking than the 1966 & 1967 that there is just no comparison.

    • @tommcconville677
      @tommcconville677 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I prefer the '68 to '70 Chargers also, they also had the 426 Hemi, but the car length was reduced with a more compact rear deck, and reduced wheelbase. That in itself made the car more maneuverable and just as fast as the '67, probably faster with a 4 speed on the floor.

I think it's a matter of taste. The first Generation (1966-1967) features a beautiful space age design that was fitting for the culture of the era. You either love it or hate it. I love it! I think it's beautiful and different, because after all everyone and their mom own or want the 68-70 models. This '67 stands out in the crowd of mopars that are overflooded with 68-70's chargers, challengers, Darts and such.
