I actually find "normal" cars like the Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia more interesting than supercars for huge money. Good luck with everything, follow with more or less interest. Always impressed with your work.
I'm pleased to see you challenge CoPart on the damage. I see so many TH-cam video's where buyers simply chalk CoPart's damage down to experience and suck up the repair costs. The more people that seek a refund the better CoPart will start to treat the cars.
I bought 2 late model accords last year from copart, forklift trashed both rear bumpers and destroyed all the rear control arms and undertrays , I complained, and they said they were not liable for forklift damage :(
On whether you should put it up for raffle, it's a resounding yes from me. A lot of the cars you do, whilst undeniably lovely - and I love watching your videos on them - just aren't realistically practical for a lot of us, in terms of insurance and fuel economy. That little Cupra would make a fantastic family car.
Hi Dean , bit of information for you in the clip where you stripped the carpet you pulled the gear box emergency release cable. Orange cord with plastic handle. This is why it can't find park now mate. Hope this helps mate
You honestly have the best car rebuild channel on yt. The work you put in by yourself no silly gimmicks or silly laughing just proper content. I take my hat of to you mate just one word of advice, don't change how you are the money and fame have changed many on yt
I had a similar problem with an ID3. The problem was because i didnt have the seats installed, there are sensors inside the seat to see if someone is sat in them or not and it wouldnt let me shift gears. Or could be the emergency release.
Dean you must be the most patient person I know, hope you get it all sorted, copart are modern day highway men ,they just don't care ,if people stopped buying from them perhaps they would treat people better.
i have learned quite alot from your knowledge of vehicles so much so that it has inspired me to fix my late dads audi he never got the chance to see it running
I have taken cat cars for warranty repair without issue; denying a valid claim because of accident history, unless directly relevant to the failure, has got to breach consumer law.
People say this is easy, I’m sure it’s not the greatest thing about you is it’s all raw, no tricks of the camera no editing tricks and when you do cut away you tell us way. Also you spear us a complete meltdown. Stay strong it’s not easy even if you make it look so and stay warm winter is here.
Looking at the top of the dashboard on the passenger side, looks like there is a water track with the rust, might be worth checking the windscreen making sure it is sealed properly before putting the carpet in it
The reason manufacturers are making you change the BCM is to combat car theft and people trying to program key to stolen car from relay theft . This applies to all new land rovers . There maybe some aftermarket techs that can still do it without changing BCM
I had a cupra formentor and had 3 gearbox solenoid issues working the first 6 months. Lucky it was a lease and just terminated it. Error on the dash was similar but it did go into gear. Best advice get all the car assembled & call VW recovery. They will take it to a dealer, fix it & give you a courtesy car for free as the car is under warranty.
Absolutely loved the video on the normal car! It's refreshing to see something so practical yet still exciting. I’d be thrilled if this car was put up for raffle - it seems like the perfect choice for someone like me who’s looking for something affordable to insure and maintain. The idea of owning a car I don't have to constantly take to a specialist dealer for repairs is so appealing. It’s exactly what I need - reliable, easy to manage, and still a joy to drive!
Ref the gearbox fault - there’s not a manual release cable somewhere to get the car in neutral for pushing? We have them on our brand, and once pulled you will have a gearbox fault and no gears selectable until the manual release cable is reset. Just a thought mate!
Brilliant video!! Glad you challenged copart over the damage. The trials and tribulations of vag products. Cannot believe the problem with having to buy that module in order to get keys sorted. Hope all is well, take care
I know the forklifts are the coparts choice for handeling these cars around, but they often leave damage and makes you wish they could improve some on that somehow. Love that Cupra though, great video. hi5
Your content is so relevant to my life, achievable cars being worked on makes it really enjoyable. Not that I don't enjoy seeing a Lambo being repaired. I'd absolutely buy tickets for this.
Seats have interesting features. Cupra R went into limp mode because the front wheels had no traction on wet grass uphill. Put the interior back together and see what happens. Yes, I'd throw some money on tickets for it. Looks good.
Far play on the carpet mate that shit really matters to people like me that buys tickets but more so to tune in to your videos because it shows what kind off real man and car guy you really are
Great video as usual Dean. As with other channels I subscribe to, they have issues with Copart as well. Either they (Copart) get a grip or they need boycotting. Just my opinion.
Yep, would buy a ticket if only to support the channel. This is detering me from buying crash damages cars as a cheaper alternative to other options as a trained mechanic has such issues. Really seeming like a lottery even for the trained with available resources. Best of luck and waiting for the next vid!
Try plugging the seatbelt in mate and shutting the door that wud be my first thing other than that go to transmission electronics and carry out the software update on it, you’ve taken out BCM therefore the car is having a propa fit you either need to carry out basic settings or updates on both TCM and ECU, keep up the good work mate love the constant VAG’s ahaha hope I’ve helped 🫶🫶
Yeah seems to be a case of playing I Spy to spot all the additional damage incurred by Copart when they get a delivery, I’m not in the trade but can’t see how a company that operates with such negligence stays in business.
Sorry for all the headaches mate. Classic tale of “this should be straight forwards” and then it is anything but! Keep the faith, should be a great car for the lucky winner
I think you need to put the car completely back together first and then go from there, the binary coding from the old bcm will need to be transferred to the new one otherwise the car will not know what equipment it has fitted, for example the car probably doesn’t know that it’s automatic,I had an auto golf with similar issues
Dean, plug everything back in and if it is the same problem, you need to do VKMS with Odis because you changed the Keys, maybe because you did have the car in N and not in P Odis Vehicle Key Management System did not learn the whole computers on your car with the security key because the conditions where not 100% furfilled( ignition on,gearbox in P with parkingbrake clossed and car under 4kmh)✌️
Another fantastic episode, thanks mate. I'll buy ticket. I feel sorry for all the trouble you go thru with some cars. Your channel is one of my favourite.
regarding the gearbox, really stupid question but have you tried it with the doors shut? Mercs/VAG cars have a safemode when trying to engage gears with an open door, it'll go straight into neutral or park everytime due to "risk of rolling" -this maybe no help whatsoever and isn't related to the GB fault but maybe useful idk
Same as a few German cars & Bms the car won’t select drive with doors open & I guess it’s probably throwing a hissy fit cos seats out & things unplugged 🤯 Get it back together & try again 👍 Good Luck!
Dean when you get another idea like this take a deep breath and think can I trust copart because when a car has NO wheels and NO keys you can't really think it's going to be an easy fix as you have painfully found out and as for your question trade it on move on to the next one and hope for better luck 🤞😊.
The replacement of the central electrics when all keys lost is on all new model 2024 VW group + new Ford Tourneo If doors are deadlocked, they also need door modules
I think a lot of us normal people can only run standard cars. .Please, go ahead and raffle it, you might sell more tickets than you do on the expensive ones. Great videos Dean.
Another great video m8t ..you should have taken that car back a lot of unnecessary damage to it they should really give you a few grand back on that m8t.good luck dean hope you can make a profit on this one ..👍👍
Have a park lock code logged I bet? Be a selector fault mate really common. Just pull the release cable and it might give you gears temporarily, the cable is stiff as your winding an electric motor by hand. You will get it covered under warranty though
Bit of a handful this one! Best of luck finding the Gremlin and I’d buy a ticket as a practical daily with a unique look. Great to see that you wanted to replace the carpet and soundproofing - quote my favourite mechanic, who said ‘fix it to a standard as if it was my own!’ 🌟👍🏼
A heater won't get all the water out. Consider getting a mains powered dehumidifier, one with a zeolite disc. They are the most efficient dehumidifiers to use in cold weather. I ran one in a smart Roadster. I took the seats out and propped the carpets up and had the dehumidifier running for about 5 days straight. I got nearly 8 litres of water out of it.
I had a blocked scuttle drain that cause the rear footwell to fill up. I left the carpet in but had a similar procedure. Sucked as much out with a wet vac as I could, cranked the heat and went for a drive till I couldn't bear it, popped the windows slightly, then used a an electric heater and a dehumidifier aat the same time for 2 hours. Tested it with a damp meter and could have used it for fire wood so job done.
Copart offer seems to be standard , Salvage rebuilds got exactly the same for damage that they claimed for , Dean I hope that you get what you deserve given that Copart did the damage but I wouldn’t hold my breath. .
Think copart have had you over on this one… but you can’t win them all.. and please unravel you extension cable as that will catch fire.. seen it too many times as the coil of cable will get red hot but you will know this.. keep the great videos coming 👍
You need to have the doors shut mate when putting it in drive it's a saftey feature I have an mg auto and that does the same you can't move with doors open
Teasing us with the response! Dean I feel for you. I I was to do what you do I would also have the worst luck. Every job I do on my own car takes 3times as long as it should!
Gutted that this turned out to be such a pain but cheers for the video as always 👍🏻..I'd say raffle it Dean..it's a much cheaper car to tax & insure, plus run as a daily driver, so appeals on that front. Also it's an estate, which is handy for families..As much as I'd like either of the Audi's you have up the mo, they would draw too much attention in the area i live so would take the cash instead. Look forward to part 2.
The gearbox is in component protection. Scan it with VCDS and you'll see it's got a comp protection code. You can use ODIS to fix that too. The new central electric module has caused the box to think it's in a new car.
I've got an A3 tfsie and that won't go into drive if the door is open and seatbelt unplugged, that doesn't help your no park situation but maybe it's upset the seats aren't in it?
What a mare I had a similar issue with copart they damaged my van whilst transporting it they point blank refused to do anything even with picture evidence good luck chin up 👍
After seeing you used Quattro Tech Cambridge for coding I gave them a go coding my Audi Q7. Can’t rate the guys highly enough. Very good customer service.
Seatbelt not grounded, safety default locks out transmission. Also when selecting the gears if the brake is not applied while selecting, it won’t shift.
You’re too kind Dean. The water ingress is not down to luck, it’s down to Copart workers not checking things like windows/doors closed as part of their job. The rest only reinforces the fact. Yes you are a regular customer but that doesn’t mean you should accept anything less than described!
That beeping. Even on the A7😂😂😂 Usually on VAG group cars there is a small reset button under the indicator padel which silences the door open beeping that iratates you so much!
Great video, I know these modern motors are a pain, but one thing I do love is a estate but also miss the vrs estate videos, if you do raffle this I'd love to purchase a ticket or 2
J519 is a issue on all VAG im a Skoda Master tech and we have this issue all the time even just coding in the original keys when you replace any control unit
Check co part has not ripped any electrical connections under the car near the gearbox. Worth a look as it was a mess underneath with the forks. As it had no wheels I would guess it’s been lifted and laid a few times. IPMSL at the camera scene.😂
You have had a couple of wet interiors. Have you considered buying a dehumidifier? It would be more effective than a heater and save the cost of carpets and underlay ... and yes, I'll buy tickets. 😄
@@SavingSalvage lots of dehumidifiers only work when the temperatures difference is great ..meaning most of the time its going to have to be at least 15 degrees inside the car. Note, the hottest air contains the most moisture and just having the heater in the car and the windows cracked open a bit will let the hottest moisture laden air escape.. no need for an expensive and probably disappointing dehumidifier.
@@metalworker007 That's true of refridgerant types, but desiccant ones will be fine. As a bonus, they heat the air coming out (mine typically outputs 30-40c air, meaning it will also help with you've described about cracking the windows open and letting the warm, moist air out :D
I actually find "normal" cars like the Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia more interesting than supercars for huge money. Good luck with everything, follow with more or less interest. Always impressed with your work.
Agreed brother, lambos are cool and all,but hardly relatable!👍👌👍🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
So totally agree
No value for money in supercars at all
Couldn't agree more
It's far more relatable to the average working man 🙏
You've really been starved for decent cars in the UK if you think Skoda and Seat are good. No LS or Barra or 2J.
I'm pleased to see you challenge CoPart on the damage. I see so many TH-cam video's where buyers simply chalk CoPart's damage down to experience and suck up the repair costs. The more people that seek a refund the better CoPart will start to treat the cars.

Seen at 17:03 in the TH-cam Video...., nice spot Matt Riley
Park is automatically controlled on these Leons so when pressing P is should auto retract emergency release
Love to hear back with what copart said in regards to damage to the vehicle
Copart are a shambles and couldn’t care less about damage
I’ve stopped buying from them due to this
They aren't called ConPart for nothing
@@Duffy3074any other decent companies that do auctions?! I’m thinking to go off COPART too..
For damp - a dehumidifier will fix it. Heating is OK, but it doesn't remove the moisture, it moves it. Well worth the money.
Agree, was going to say the same. For good high performing dehumidifiers check out Meaco, especially the ones with a laundry mode.
If there was a damp, mold often follows. I'd suggest considering using ozonizer.
@@malcolm6951
The Meaco Zambezi has a bacterial filter, use it on a boat laid up for winter. Does a terrific job.

Still under warranty then Dean! I believe insurance companies don't categorise stolen recovered so take it in to Seat for the gear box fault
I have taken cat cars for warranty repair without issue; denying a valid claim because of accident history, unless directly relevant to the failure, has got to breach consumer law.
They end up on vcheck which certain trade will say is still a write off

Seatbelt not being plugged in won't allow it go change gear. Same with the doors open 👍
This is a great shout
Occupancy sensors in seats not being plugged in wont allow you to select drive. Its a safety feature.
Doesn’t explain it not going into park, which it should allow surely?
Your jokeing right 😊
Plug everything back in including all the seats. Then if it don’t go into park then you have a gearbox issue.
Copart forklift drivers be like homer simpson on his first day at a new job.. 😂
And what's wrong with uncle Homer 🤣
They 100% do it on purpose
@@andrewsimpson5436 doh!

Dean, if you're using the extension lead with a decent load on it, unwind it all out. There is a possibility of the lead melting and causing a fire.
Exactly the cable wound on real acts like a coil and when your pulling high amps it can heat up
I was just about to say the same. I used a fan heater to dry some carpet and foolishly left the extension cable coiled up on the reel - it melted!
Looking at the top of the dashboard on the passenger side, looks like there is a water track with the rust, might be worth checking the windscreen making sure it is sealed properly before putting the carpet in it

I haven’t, but I am now buying one 😅 thanks!
