After having listened to all of the piano collections and played several pieces from each of them, I have the most respect for this one. There's something to be said for not only having the skill to transcribe the complex, orchestral arrangements from the OST but also to reinterpret them so imaginatively (e.g., To Walk Amongst Gods) with such distinct moods and styles.
I totally agree with this. This is my favourite rendition of all the FF piano collections. It's so rich in different textures, styles, contrast and the amazing technique in terms of performance and arrangement.
In measures 33-40 of On the Riverbank, I would have loved to hear the whole and correct harp part. It is wrong in measure 39 and absent all together in measures 36 and 40 (And in the recap) The correct harp part would make measures 36 and 40 a little trickier but the jump in 39 will be a 5th shorter.
Thanks for these awesome videos and I have to say, the piano itself on this album sounds fantastic - such character! FFX was a bit mushy and FFXIII was too twinkly for me, wonder what type of piano they used....
That's funny, in bar 99 of Lowtown I was thinking it should be played an octave higher when I was playing it and now I see that this pianist plays it an octave higher anyway!
Good catch first of all... Whether playing strictly as the score, or an octave higher as the recording, each has its effect sounding to the listener, and you can make up a reason to support it. Like, as the score, both hands (voice groups) are shifting their pitch; as the recording, the higher voices are retaining their... "highness" (?), and join the lower voices in bar 100, offering a shock (there is a rest for all voices following). Yeah both sounds nice. By the way the performer is the arranger. The same person.

Agreed❤
This is the beauty of Hitoshi Sakimoto's music
1:00:30 this melodic interlude is very nearly an exact quote of La Fille Aux Cheveaux De Lin by Debussy.
The opening of On the Riverbank before the melody kicks in just gets me every time. It's just so perfect. Thank you so much for this marvelous upload.
the best video on youtube

You're a saint for uploading these. :) Thank you!
That arrangement of Eruyt Village really is something... Too bad the score has become so expensive, about 100 dollars ._.
i am transcribing the dalmasca ost and this video gives me an idea of the 16th notes and the note values. thanks

IkranAhiyik Yeh, I just thought it seemed a bit weird going back to the lower pitch since it breaks the pattern. Thanks for the information again!
