Canon Ivy Cliq Camera Printer Review

- Buy it on Amazon - lon.tv/jhq2m (affiliate link) On the surface this might look like a great stocking stuffer. But the reality in execution is anything but.. Yes this is a digital camera that will write images to an SD card (not included). BUT - the camera will not take a picture unless you have the Zink paper loaded in. Every button push prints out a photo at a cost of .50 per shutter activation. If you're thinking this might be a fun toy for a kid, think again. Printing is not optional.
The 5 megapixel sensor is also very low quality, producing images that remind me of the front sensor one might see on a cheap imported smartphone. Even moderately lit scenes produce lots of noise in dark areas on the digital image, and the printed images are washed out and bland.
What's worse is that despite having a printer on board it can't connect up to anything else. There's no bluetooth for printing out smartphone photographs, and all its onboard USB connection does is charge the camera.
In short this is not worth the purchase. The $160 step up from this one (called the Cliq+) might be worth considering given that it does allow printing from other devices and includes a flash that this device lacks.

I feel like the comments are a little harsh. Remember, this camera is cheaper than instax, allows the photos to be reprinted, saved on a memory card, printed on sticky paper, costing about 50c per print and they give you 10 sheets in the box. Instax is a cute looking camera but there's no memory card option and the photos cost twice as much and they don't give you any in the box.

I bought one of these for my 17 year old daughter and my niece and nephew for Christmas this year for $59. At that price it’s practically a stocking stuffer.
I think that Canon's intent was to provide people with a way to print photos on the spot without having to go to a print shop or use a computer. Polaroid instant camera had that market covered but the digital camera revolution made instant camera market obsolete. Canon recognizes that there is still a niche market for instant cameras, so they made one that uses technology that they already make: digital cameras and printers. I doubt this camera will be around for long.
I honestly would buy this for my kid. She'd love it.
Amanda Gomez I think these kind of cameras (including the Polaroid Snap version) are great for kids! I’m not a fan of ZINK paper and printing because I enjoy the magic of developing Polaroids, but this is cheaper than instant film and that’s pretty important for kids. This brings back the magic of Polaroids in a cheaper and more modern way (like the SD card) I think

I saw them online for as low as $59.99. The price he mentioned from Amazon was a lot more.
I live in an apartment complex that has a free table and tonight I got a brand new one of these cameras that was unopened. There was an unopened box of 20 Canon sticky back photo sheets too that I got. I'm tempted to make it a gift for a friend, but I'm also interested in taking pictures with it just to see how they turn out. I can't complain about the price....lol!

I appriciate yr opinion but it seems like you are not getting this market that this product is towarded to. Instax sold milions of very similar cameras so it is huge market right now and this camera is just what most of them wants it to be.
exactly people don't want to take 4k photos on here they just want to have something to take happy snaps on and arguably photos which SHOW they were on a polaroid
I have an HP Sprocket and I actually think that's a better product as most of us already have decent cameras on our phone. Also I don't like the idea that it prints every picture you take which will end up quite expensive.

Mine will not charge and I did make sure that every three months I recharged it. Something must be wrong with the powering function of this camera, I have seen a lot of other comments about the same thing.

It's a collectors camera, instant photographers hate zink paper, but collectors don't care, they shoot for the fun of shooting pictures, not for the quality.
$100 to $160 for a shitty little thing that only does one purpose? And you can just go to a Wal-Mart or CVS kiosk and print pics from your phone. No fucking thx. That's just a WASTE of $

What Photolab guy said :) - It really depends on the week, we had a lot of good stuff on the main channel so this one didn't quite make the cut for there.

It is not for you or him. It is for people who like polaroid style cameras. Instax sold tons of cameras so its huge market right now.

Tbh, just buy a PowerShot and a Ok SD Card for a solid Canon Camera
my parents got it for me for christmas and it doesn’t work at all. i lost the instructions but you can tell that the paper is in it bc i opened the camera. it’s so stupid because every time i press the button it makes the printing sound but nothing else happens. don’t buy it
This actually does have flash clearly its the white dot next to the hole u look threw lol wow smh. Its a good camera really but obv not professional lmao. Fun for takin pics of ppl u love and sticking them on things. The plus all it does is have bluetooth wow nothing new as far as specs.

This thing is overpriced junk. Fuji makes a couple hybrid instant cameras that are a better price point best on features and picture quality. The SQ10 is a lower resolution but not zinc. Yea the film has to develop but a more dynamic image. Huge LCD. It's $99 dollars since the sq20 has come out.
I have this, and I love it honestly lol. I think it's cute.
When I take one single picture mine starts flashing like it’s not charged and would not take any pictures unless you charge it again ,

@@abc-ls4qh if it flashes red, just take the cover of the sheets like you are going to adjust them and then close it again. I did this like 2 times then it started working perfectly and I didnt have any issue after
