Beautiful build! Thans for sharing. Hopefully making it so simple to set up will mean that it gets more use. I know thst in my space, it's crowded and getting out a monitor, drive, stealing desk space and a monitor from another system often means that the machines see little use....
That sounds fun. I've just bought a hot air soldering station and digital microscope which I'll be using in my next video, they'll come in handy if I decide to do this.
That's amazing! I've been wondering what a modern ZX81 would look like. This is very inspiring. Maybe I wasn't listening properly, but why not use 5v from a USB connector for power supply?
Thanks! The monitor uses 9 volts and the ZX81+38 5 volts. I only wanted one power connection on the machine, so I didn't have to have separate power supply for monitor and computer. So I used 9 volts to supply the monitor and then also stepped this down to 5 volts for the ZX81+38.
Great video, thank you for making it and posting it on TH-cam! My brother and I are also working on an alternative ZX81/TS1000 case. I really like your "All-In-One" solution. Subscribing now.
@@iNimbleSloth Thanks the above link is the upload link :). BTW i built you keyboard design with the key caps thank you for sharing they keyboard is fantastic.
Im not selling them, BUT, the design for the keyboard PCB and case are on my GitHub page and the main computer PCB is also on GitHub. Just got my phone at the moment, so when I get back to my computer, I’ll post links to your comment.
HOW IS THAT THIS CHANNEL HAVE NOT TONS OF ZX FANS? I WILL SHARE YOUR CHANNEL IN MY FACEBOOK PROFILE. HAVE YOU THOUGHT HOW TO PRINT YOUR OWN ZX81 keyboard MEMBRANE? not the underlying one, i mean a home made replica membrane with the printed commands in it, is it possible with a laser printer and some special printing paper or available printable fabric in the market to this or is it impossible? what do you think? cheers!
Thank you for the share, much appreciated! Since the ZX81 keyboard layout is bonded to the electrical membrane I think a homemade version would be quite challenging as you'd need to somehow make the keyboard membrane. Or if you were to replace the membrane with the smaller tactile keyboard from this video th-cam.com/video/6a8wxj9vJjU/w-d-xo.html, then maybe printing they keyboard design on paper and laminating would work.
Gorgeous. Thanks for sharing this project with us.

nice job-congrats. Altough it seems impossible to beat the still timeless design of the original case.
great project! Why don't you build the same with SMD components ?

I'm sorry, I did not study ALL videos in this series, but I want to ask: what is the meaning of the "+38" ? :) GREAT product. Amazing. BRILLIANT!
The designer started the project in 2019. 1981 + 38 years later 😊
Great work. Are the STL files available? I have the PCBs all done just need a case :)
Bear with me and I'll get them uploaded somewhere and post a link.

Brilliant
Are these for sale?

You're nuts. Just use an emulator on any laptop. Duh!
