Glad to keep buying up everything closer (but not all the way back to) covid prices. Getting flippers out of the game is ultimately the best thing that can happen to the hobby

Cards are still crazy high. 500K for a Trout. 800k or a Clemente 200K for a Wilt...these prices are still nuts. The new stuff is still being chased. Look at what the Wemby autos are going for. Look at what the XRC chase cards in Select football are going for. So SCR I think you are dead wrong. Cards simply got too high. The market has adjusted. It might go lower because cards are at silly high prices. But I am sure the National will have record attendance. There is still a ton of interest in this stuff and lower prices might just bring new people into the hobby.

Pulled a Marcelo Mayer Red refractor /5 1st from Bowman Draft, Elly De La Cruz Superfractor Auto from Pro Debut & a Green /50 Vald Jr from Chrome Sapphire RC. Even though I sold all those at a combined 14k I didn’t make that much of a profit. It’s mostly fun for me

I love this channel. I certainly had to learn how to collect in today's market. And if Im being honest most of the cards I bought from 2019 tell about 8 months ago have all lost value and are not worth what I payed. I had to make a decision. This isn't going to make me the big money like I had hoped and whatever money my cards do bring in needs to be done fast or soon after the product drops. Or I hold these cards for a long time and hope that the next boom I did good on my rookie collection. Then I decided even that was to risky and keeping up with all the rookies every year would get exhausting after a while. Now I collect only the guys I personally like regardless of their stats or impact on the game. This way I have a personal connection with each card I buy. For example I'm collecting Kemba Walker Charlotte Hornets. He's cheap and I really liked him and thought he was awesome. His cards are sweet to look at and I enjoy owning them.

Recently learned this hard lesson about ripping boxes and retail items. Been a massive fat loss and I have only pulled 10% to 20% of the total box values. Pretty big let down , product is so diluted now and no longer even exciting to rip like it was years back. Moving forward I'm not ripping any boxes over 300 and even that will be a very rare purchase for fun. Funny how all these TH-cam channels pull crazy expensive cards constantly ,then us normal people get hosed because they know what loaded boxes they are sending content creators.

I saw it coming and let everyone else go crazy. I have set myself aside and just watched 😅 it's a joke. Stick with 50 years or older cards and be smart. I think ungraded cards will be again worth holding if you pulled them yourself. Grading is a joke as far as I'm concerned. Love the hobby!!!!!
Best hobby decision I’ve made in the last year or so, was not buy any sports cards whatsoever, now if more people would do the same, it’ll eventually bring the prices back down to earth.
The real culprit is breaking. People still paying ridiculously high prices to gamble on card breaks. Maybe 1 out of 10 makes a profit on a break. Meanwhile the card companies, distributors and breakers are raking in profit on each new release.
Not only did you not tell anyone to buy a $450 box, but you’ve said quite a few times to NOT send cards back to the companies (ie damaged cards), because there’s a good chance they’ll bend you right over 😂

They were selling for $300+ but there was still people that wanted to “do the right thing”. 6-8 months later people were on every Topps post asking where their $100 was 😂

I've collected base hall of famers and stars for the last 20 years just for fun and to stay close to baseball. I fundamentally don't understand how new cards sell for thousands of dollars. Hobby "moguls" seem so patently fake its hard for me to fathom people seriously thinking they're going to get rich buying cards. This hobby is a lot of fun if you're not worried about making a profit.
I went to jim's card shop in bellingham and he didn't get up from counting cards and didn't say hi or anything. one of the worst card shop experiences i've ever had
At my local Walmart currently sitting on the shelf is every single blaster box from a case of both 2022-23 Prizm Basketball and Optic Basketball. They have now been sitting there for 11 days and I counted today to confirm not one blaster of either has sold! The baseball section is bare and whats left is a mess and will look exactly the same two days after a restock. As a collector since the junk wax days, through the decades after when most of these clowns probably didnt even know cards still existed, and still collecting to this day, I have always been mostly a baseball card collector. Just like SCR says, the best way to insure a return on investment is collecting Baseball and my personal opinion based off experience and being blessed to learn from two collectors who have a deep understanding and knowledge of the hobby is the best opportunity to be successful buying and selling in it. First off its the sport with the longest history and a huge part of the sport and history is the baseball cards that accompanied it. That gives baseball a way larger market and alot more stability and value. In my area there is an LCS run by two brothers and has been open for 20+ years and they are profitable! They are honest guys, treat people good, and huge baseball guys. They are who first opened my eyes and taught me things about the hobby that is still some of the best advice I have got to this day! So when I saw that all the baseball at Walmart was sold out and all the Football and Basketball was warming pegs I couldnt help but smile because it was the first time in 3 years I felt joy about the hobby! It was a clear obvious sign The Covid Cancers finally ran out of stemi money and their Will Greers couldnt even get them a can of Beefaroni! Finally I might be able to afford some wax! After years of buying singles of Ebay 90% of the time I forgot the feeling of getting a couple boxes of wax and opening them without guilt because I paid 50 bucks for a blaster! Rip open some wax with me if you feel the same! SCR thanks for being the thing that got us through all of it and mowed down all the frauds using their own bullshit as bullets.

I bought a box of cheap 90s fleer to give to My tball team. Had about 15 packs left over. I had just as much fun opening those packs as I did opening finest in the mid 90s. I haven’t bought a pack just to buy one since I was 14, but if I ever did I would just order my self an old box of junk wax for $30 bucks and have 30 packs to open.
If you spend $450 on a box of modern cards, you are basically buying a scratch-off ticket. I've never seen anyone get too mad about not winning a scratch-off lottery, this is pathetic.

Is the dealer in Wash taking in sales of 62K or net profit of 62 K? I had a small store and if you are working on 10% on boxes and 20% on singles and supplies then you are making enough to pay the bills but not getting rich. You can be a manager at a sub shop and make 60K with no investment needed.
Jim the dealer / group submitter also swaps out your cards for lesser condition ones. Don’t be surprised if you get lower-than-expected grades from PSA.
Seen that before....happens with record dealers on ebay....dealer sells a record that is in fine to excellent condition to a scammer that gets it and then switches it out with a shitty condition one and sends it back saying it isn't what it was advertised as and demands their money back. Beware folks...there's scum everywhere and this shit-bag JIm IS one of them.

Sports cards trading seems like nothing but a pyramid scheme. It used be that the value of a card was based on rarity, significance, and condition. Now it just feels so artificial and an industry that created a "Gold rush", just so they could sell more shovels.
Outstanding video. Watched another video yesterday from a guy who petty much said the same thing. This hobby is all about fun, collecting what you like, and using common sense. What you said beginning at the 5:58 mark is what I have said all along. Notice how stores are now PACKED with products (at least that’s the case in my area). Appears that these breakers have run out of steam and are moving on to something else. The question I have is what will it be next?
I still make a little money doing this buying boxes and into breaks - You need to do your research though - Once in a while you pull a $1000 card and yes it would have been nice to get the $10 000 it was worth a year ago - But in reality that card cost me a buck - so? - The guy getting killed is the guy that bought it for 10g's a year ago! You need to keep changing strategies and remember the "Stock Market" aspect of the hobby.

It's the big cards that go down. People are charging nearly $50 at times for dumb things like 2020/1 Olympics blaster, $4 for 25c commons and the like so I CANNOT build a base set. Targets & Wally's here stopped selling cards so I couldn't get screwed even if I wanted to. Keep rippin n dippin.

I bought a box of cheap 90s fleer to give to My tball team. Had about 15 packs left over. I had just as much fun opening those packs as I did opening finest in the mid 90s. I haven’t bought a pack just to buy one since I was 14, but if I ever did I would just order my self an old box of junk wax for $30 bucks and have 30 packs to open.

Is the dealer in Wash taking in sales of 62K or net profit of 62 K? I had a small store and if you are working on 10% on boxes and 20% on singles and supplies then you are making enough to pay the bills but not getting rich. You can be a manager at a sub shop and make 60K with no investment needed.

Seen that before....happens with record dealers on ebay....dealer sells a record that is in fine to excellent condition to a scammer that gets it and then switches it out with a shitty condition one and sends it back saying it isn't what it was advertised as and demands their money back. Sports cards trading seems like nothing but a pyramid scheme. It used be that the value of a card was based on rarity, significance, and condition. Now it just feels so artificial and an industry that created a "Gold rush", just so they could sell more shovels.

Outstanding video. Watched another video yesterday from a guy who petty much said the same thing. This hobby is all about fun, collecting what you like, and using common sense. What you said beginning at the 5:58 mark is what I have said all along. Notice how stores are now PACKED with products (at least that’s the case in my area). Appears that these breakers have run out of steam and are moving on to something else. The question I have is what will it be next?

I still make a little money doing this buying boxes and into breaks - You need to do your research though - Once in a while you pull a $1000 card and yes it would have been nice to get the $10 000 it was worth a year ago - But in reality that card cost me a buck - so? - The guy getting killed is the guy that bought it for 10g's a year ago! You need to keep changing strategies and remember the "Stock Market" aspect of the hobby.

It's the big cards that go down. People are charging nearly $50 at times for dumb things like 2020/1 Olympics blaster, $4 for 25c commons and the like so I CANNOT build a base set. Targets & Wally's here stopped selling cards so I couldn't get screwed even if I wanted to. Keep rippin n dippin.
