I'm crying...Boondocks is the song my dad always played whenever he could, and Fishin' in the Dark is my parent's song. This is a belated thank you for this.
You know, if I didn't KNOW these were originally two separate songs that you'd mixed together, I might think it was all one song . . . because you made them fit so well!!
Home Free just blows me away. Each one seems to be super talented and when they come together, they all humbly showcase each other. Individually their talents are impressive, but together they give me the chills!
I haven't been addicted to a singer or band since my early teenage-years.. and then I find out about you guys. God I love your music! Your voices are out of this world!
I agree totally. I was never really into country music, liking a tune here and there when it became a huge hit going mainstream, but never delving any further. Then Home Free came along and changed my mind.
I’m with you, their sounds flow through my mind always! The Sea Shanty medley has been rocking my brain for days now. I’m trying to replace it with this song!!
@Aiden Amaya I think the op meant that Tim Foust is inducted in a Music Hall Of Fame, watch the 'Texas Eats with Tim Foust' videos, he's being inducted in those videos.
@@BigD8404 B0 is a really Low note Tim sang lower than a four string bass. B0 is also the lowest B on the piano! The number after letters are used to show which octave the note is in you'll hear C4 as middle C. Octave example C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 A1 B1 C2 and so on. On piano there are a little over 7 octaves, including a couple extra on the low end. So Tim sang a B0 below the 1st octave!
This is my favorite video of theirs. One, the editing is fantastic and really creative. Second, I love these two songs. Not to mention Adam's outfit is bomb.
Like most I grew up honing in on the lead for the melody & I modeled that until I got to sing with two guys who grew up hearing the harmony behind the lead. At almost 60 I finally began to hear what's behind the melody & it blew me away. I'm not a quick read with everything now, except on occasion, but I'm hooked on harmony. I'm in awe of bands like Home free, Pentatonic, & the likes that sing 4 & 5 part harmony seemingly so effortlessly. Bravo; you guys are masters of the art !
Oh my gosh. This was like my 70,000 time I listened to this song. Here is my math: One favorite song+ another favorite song+ my most favorite band ever= a masterpiece
So my kid absolutely loves this song. It was so cute, yesterday we were jamming out to this song and she asks me, "Mommy are they using real drums?" and I told her no baby, that's Adam! And she was just so surprised that it was just him and his voice!! It was adorable! She's 6 and is your newest and biggest fan!! We love you guys!! :)
Quite honestly, I prefer these guys compared to Pentatonix. They are original and raw, PTX just seem too "studio-ised" like they are autotuned etc but HF just always deliver. Edit - I've slightly tweaked my feedback given this comment blew up!
I've always said the one major advantage to these guys compared to PTX is letting their bass member take a lot of solos - Avi barely gets any, it's like a little treat to hear his voice, where as Tim gets a lot. Also, I'd say Adam (Is Adam the beat boxer?) is better than Kevin from PTX
+Mr Blue Sky Home free's musics are more country/blues like meanwhile PTX are towards Electro and pop like. I really don´t compare the two groups bc they are unique in their own ways and sure are very good as well.
I’m sorry but the segment from 3:09 is possibly one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in a music video. Tim’s G4 then his Eb1 to B0 scale - Adam’s MJ-like dancing - Chris’s hat blowing off - Adam’s superhuman throat bass - plus something like 3 different melodies interacting with each other at once - absolutely masterful.
Very few,,,very few, groups of singers that call themselves entertainers, actually entertain. YOU fellas, DO entertain. I automatically smile when you sing, an upbeat aura takes over. A great big thank you for that. You're on my bucket list to see in concert... 🤗
For anyone wanting to look up these two songs, the 1st was The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's 'Fishin' in the Dark', and the 2nd is Little Big Town's 'Bonndocks'. Unfortunately the title card and final end scene both say 'Down in the Boondocks' which was originally a Billy Joe Royal song, but this is not the song that was used in this mashup cover. Hope this helps!
Great choice on a mash-up! Loved it! Born in the boondocks myself, this makes me proud of my heritage! I teach in an area where most of the students fit the same criteria. I have become educated, got my masters, but I still remember fishin' in the dark. I hope to contribute to my students' education, but they should not be ashamed of the boondocks. Thanks! By the way, I loved the visuals, especially stomping on the chicken. You had to be raised in the boondocks to understand how mean a settin' hen or a rooster can be.
It took me so long to figure out who was doing the bass line at 3:08 and I finally figured out it was Adam making it while beat boxing. This group never stops amazing me.
Hello, I'm from Brazil, I accompany you almost one year, you have done the country my favorite music genre, now just listen zac brown, Blake Shelton among others and of course you, I hope one day I can go to a show you, whether in Brazil or the USA where I want to know too, hugs and Thank you for existing!
I'm getting old! And until a couple of weeks ago, I was still listening to the music I grew up with 40+ years ago. Then I heard your recording of Can't Stop The Feeling! Now my wife thinks I'm nuts! I have your music playing constantly while I'm working. I just love you guys! And I'm anxious for you to get to the Florida panhandle so I can see you in person. (Top of my bucket list) Thanks and God bless you all!!!
In case you cant hear that B0, just convert this song to MP3, go to audacity or some other music editing program and boost the bass and lower the treble (by like 100db each). Then you will hear the descending line, ending at B0
2 of my favourite songs in 1. WOW What a great job. I enjoy listening to Home Free every chance I get. The people I live with think I lost my mind, but Hubby now uses Tim's line of "2 things" when he needs to tell me stuff. :-)
I truly appreciate Adam Chance even more now I've watched that old video. He's truly made a wonderfully talented and yet modestly well fitted addition to the group. Equals of excellence.
You guys got a lot going for you y'all have made me an a capella fan I love country music and you guys are great there is NOT one weak link in your group your all awesome!
Fishing in the dark/Boondocks Mashup is simply an outstanding video! Real interesting effects with color/texture/juxtaposition and dance moves. Not crazy about all of it, but enjoyed the whole experience. The thing about you guys, besides your excellent singing skills, is that you're never boring. Keep up the fine work and I'll keep watching.😇

Thanks guys, your spoiling us with all the new songs and I am so proud to be a patron.
Thinking of it as I listen to this song on repeat... I have to say this is one of your best songs you've ever put out. This is such a fantastic showcase of all your individual talents. Austin, Rob and Chris shine through with their incredible vocals and harmonics, Tim absolutely decimated those bass notes (rip subwoofers) and Adam's technical game is so on point you could set a metronome to it. This is why I prefer you to Pentatonix. They are an extremely talented bunch of kids, but they don't diversify. It's only ever about the three singers with the bass and beatbox getting slim to none in the way of solos and focus. You guys PUSH Tim to the front. You guys step back and let Adam shred the best in the world. You each take turns sharing the mic and it (I have found) has produced a far more diverse, recognisable and vibrant group with far more identifiable members. Seriously, never stop with the wonders you 5 are consistently producing. Yours sincerely, an Australian fan.
I definitely agree with you!! When my mom showed me their Ring of Fire video, she wanted to go to their concert. At the time I thought Pentatonix was better. But, now that I've been to one of their phenomenal concerts, and I watch every one of their videos on repeat, I prefer Home Free. They are so talented and can give pretty much any pop song a country twist, and every time it sound great!!
uh... pentatonix do solos all the time with all of their members and everyone else do effectively become background singers. diversity? a few guys and a good bass vs a few guys, a good bass, an extremely talented female singer, and a guy with an incredibly unique high voice you literally cant match. not salty just dont understand your point
The special effects are genius. What an amazing video. Love Home Free's performance. Adam.... wow, he's got moves.. All of Home Free is unique, amazing, and above all very entertaining. Amazing guys!
Just about destroying my headphones with the bass! Love it! Who doesn't love this kind of harmony and earth shattering bass. Tim ranks up there with Tim Riley and the Southern Gospel Basses that have that kind of boom in their voices!
Amazing group! Pure musical clarity! Love their arrangements too. I love listening to them with headphones as you hear the nuances in each voice as well as the perfect blending. I've always loved acappella as you can actually hear the talent of the voices. Too many times with music today, talent gets covered up with instrumentation. Some artists today can't sing without all of that background.....and there are some that aren't even good singers in the first place. I don't go to concerts anymore for that very reason along with the exorbitant ticket prices....because for some, it's not about the music, it's about the production. I truly hope Home Free continues to gain popularity with their music. This is one group I'd for sure go see in concert!
+Lynnette Thorne If you like them in their videos or from listening to their CDs, you will LOVE them after seeing them live. Was already a huge fan before I went to a concert. They are even more amazing live!
“I know I have said this before, but the odds of us actually playing Freebird? There are no odds. It is not going to happen. I will start off with the first reason. We have no idea how to play Freebird. The second reason is. In the Love Bug’s natural habitat, that would fucking kill him and you wouldn’t want that. He is fucking adorable. He is cute. Thirdly, even if, pick your deity, came down from the heavens or wherever or the hills or wherever the deity lives and blessed us with this vast knowledge of Freebird. And we could play it backwards and sing it backwards. We still just wouldn’t do it. If this were the Make-A-Wish Foundation and you were going to die in 20 minutes- just long enough to play Freebird,- we still wouldn’t play it. Here is the end reason. The end reason is that life is just too fucking short to hear or play Freebird.” -Isaac Brock
+Zachary Norris All I was saying was they are good songs. Home Free is great and creative with their own songs, covers and smash ups/remixes. If they wanted to do a smash up of Lynrd Skynrd songs it would be cool. If not cool too. Home Free is very talented no matter what song the do. So chill man and enjoy the music.
I have a completely new appreciation for country and a cappella music because of Home Free! Totally impossible to stay still while listening to Fishin' in the Dark/Boondocks. It just makes you get up and have to move. Can't wait to see ya'll live in concert!!!
Tim has inspired me to develop my already low voice into an even lower, fuller one. Thanks man. Also, I love Adam's technique and power behind his beats and rhythms, awesome work. Rob and Austin, you guys nail those high notes and give them meaning. Chris, you always know how bring a song back to its roots in where its from. You all do what you do amazingly. If I could pick some vocal teachers it would totally be you guys, the Pentatonix crew, and some other artists. I understand that you guys are incredibly busy, but I have a few small questions if you are willing to answer.
tobs mar im trying to be. i have a pretty solid register, my lowest comfortable chest note is usually C2 but sometimes its B1 or Bb1, and i an growl down to E1, and fry is somewhere really low that i dont know how to test or measure, but its crazy low, i also know subharmonics, and overtones, so im developing a wide vocal field for myself
Technically I am a baritone. I don't even know how to do a growl note and actually make it a note. My lowest note is C#2, my lowest comfortable chest note is D2, My highest chest is C#4, my highest falsetto is Bb5, my highest whistle is F6, and my highest squeak is G7. This is coming from a [not even] 13 year old.
I love this! I was looking so hard for a country acapella group. thank you so much for what you do, I'm working on a channel right now where I'll do covers, looking forward to creating music just like this.
Fantastic! This god-like vocal percussionist has to be the best in the a Capella business. Subwoofers need to be calibrated after B0s from Tim. And you three absolutely destroying all the leads, be it screaming high rocking chords or serenading your viewers slow and steady. Can not believe how you continually top your previous vids.
Fishin in the dark is one of my favorite songs & i couldn't have asked for it to be performed better as a mashup! I haven't heard the other song before this but it definitely works :)
Wowwww! HOME FREE this was sooo AWESOME!! The arrangement was sooo good!!! I loved how each of you got a part in the song those are my favorites!! The harmonies, the voices were unbelievable! The visual and color effects were out of this world! Y'all did an outstanding job!! (Even though I'm inside sitting.) Oh and hold on to your hats!! I can't wait to see this song live in Boston and can't wait for the new cd!

+Marge Kreischer Aww shucks, thanks!
Everyones talking about the singing (rightfully so), but I think the video production was really well done.
Agreed. The video production was absolutely nailed on this one. I love it as much as the song and it just enhances this particular track so much!
These guys absolutely suck.
GOAT of acapella. Hands down. PERIOD.

Tim Foust is in a Hall of Fame for having the widest vocal range
No he is one of the only few that can get that low. Don't get me wrong he is special.
Watch the all about the bass video and you realize this man could have three different voices with three different people and pull it off
@Aiden Amaya I think the op meant that Tim Foust is inducted in a Music Hall Of Fame, watch the 'Texas Eats with Tim Foust' videos, he's being inducted in those videos.
@@tonyakidd3405 I agree! Him and Geoff Castellucci from Voiceplay are amazing!
Tim Fous holds two world records one for the lowest note ever sung by a human & one for the widest vocal range (10 octaves). Impressive !!
My Grandson is staying in our RV with us. I am currently playing this. He is singing along! Ah, my Grandson, and Home Free!
This may cause an argument, but I have to say... Hands down the best acapella group out there! Always perfectly the best!
+KU1AcousticJam awwww
Best country acapella group without a doubt... but I think pentatonix is just as good I like them both equally
Got that right
No argument here!

Can we just talk about Austin's hair flip? GASP!!! Also, Tim "combing" his hair with the pitchfor, that is hilarious!!
I've heard Home Free sing this song many times. This is the first time I've seen the video - Trippy, Man!! Love their arrangements.
You guys are great. Every song I gave heard I love. Adam is out of this world. Don't know how he does all those sounds. Love you guys.
I just noticed when Tim hit the B0, Chris's hat was blown offXD I don't know if that was intentional, but I thought it was funny.

Just about destroying my headphones with the bass! Love it! Who doesn't love this kind of harmony and earth shattering bass. Tim ranks up there with Tim Riley and the Southern Gospel Basses that have that kind of boom in their voices!
+Brandon Riggs :)
+Lynnette Thorne thanks for the love lynnette!
Have you guys thought about a Sweet Home Alabama cover? You could kill it!
Simple Man and Free Bird would be good too
“I know I have said this before, but the odds of us actually playing Freebird? The end reason is that life is just too fucking short to hear or play Freebird.”
-Isaac Brock
+Zachary Norris All I was saying was they are good songs. Home Free is great and creative with their own songs, covers and smash ups/remixes. If they wanted to do a smash up of Lynrd Skynrd songs it would be cool. If not cool too. Home Free is very talented no matter what song the do. So chill man and enjoy the music.
Omgosh! A Lynyrd Skynyrd cover would be so cool!
This is definately one of my favorites!!!! I have mostly you guys on my ipod. Love your stuff!!! keep em coming!!!
+tonya longley aww thanks!
that's it.....I'm in love. you guys seriously rock!!!!!!!
I understand that you guys are incredibly busy, but I have a few small questions if you are willing to answer.
tobs mar im trying to be. i have a pretty solid register, my lowest comfortable chest note is usually C2 but sometimes its B1 or Bb1, and i an growl down to E1, and fry is somewhere really low that i dont know how to test or measure, but its crazy low, i also know subharmonics, and overtones, so im developing a wide vocal field for myself
tobs mar i should take voice lessons lol, im sure they'd have a field day with me
Technically I am a baritone.
+Gabriel Derwin if you can get a d why baritone
InsertLogo to bad Chris quit, I'm really disappointed in that.. But Adam chance is good, just not the same.
I love this! I was looking so hard for a country acapella group. thank you so much for what you do, I'm working on a channel right now where I'll do covers, looking forward to creating music just like this.
Thanks so much!
+Ethan Bruner Haha thanks so much Ethan
Thanks for re-placing my heart to the Boondocks. I L O V E T H I S
You guys rock it everytime!! Keep up the awesome work! Much love from Texas.
awesome you guys nailed it looking forward to more great songs
