    Waiting for deliveries can be nail-biting that is for sure.

    I work “for” FedEx, I’ve ordered things and had something sit for a few days in TX so I called 1800gofedex. I asked them why my stuff is sitting, gave them my employee number, and so on. Next day it left TX and was in GA then deliver 1-2 days later. I don’t screw around when it’s something I’ve paid for no matter the value. What if it’s a 1 of a kind item that can never be replaced and that 1 of is “gone”. I have 3 comics the disappeared in the same post office that it was delivered to all because 1 person messed up.

    It is scary man! When I think of the books that we send and entrust to CGC and the postal services 😂 we are a crazy Bunch of people.

    These Stories like this. Scare me I would hate to know my books are lost or it takes a year to get back to me. Glad to hear yours turned out all right.

    You're more patient than me. I've had similar things happen with FedEx, UPS, and USPS. I'll call the day after the initial delivery date and ask to speak to managers and supervisors to have my stuff tracked down. 9 times out of ten, after I call and complain, my package will magically show up the next day.

    I legit had a Fedex rep tell me once; “We knew we lost your package, but we were waiting for you to contact us to confirm it.”

    Here in Australia our postal service is very good most of the time, but I have had a package circulate between Brisbane and Sydney - only 900 kilometres - for a month before finally being returned to sender (me) despite clearly printed destination and origin address labels. Like you, in the end I was just relieved that the item reached its recipient. And that's a great Signature Series comic there James.

    I’ve had this happen with usps, fedex and ups. I love when it’s “out for delivery” and nothing shows up. Then magically it’s “at the main warehouse being sorted”. More like “we forgot to deliver and you might get it tomorrow…”.
    Or it just never shows up.

    I sent a comic lot to a customer in California. It was stuck in Jackson, Mississippi for 14 days, finally got a hold of a supervisor and he sent an email and the next day it was on its was to Cali.

    It’s out of your hands. Just sucks when you have to rely on others. Glad it worked out well for you. It happens. Thank you for sharing.

    I like how Roy signs over the book's title, when it makes the signature pop more. Fkn Lee and Williams signed in black over the blue Beast on my X-Men 1 I just got back.

    I've had situations exactly like this happen to me so many times. Not with comics but with lots of other things that I've ordered. Things get stuck or lost in the back of a truck and they sit in one place for a week and then they go somewhere that makes no sense and then they go back close by and then eventually arrive. I had books sit in the next town over for like a week and then go to North Carolina and then go back and forth a few times once before coming

      Hahaha the items you ordered just need a quick siesta before settling in

    I so glad that you were able to get this. I had the opposite happen, CGC was like we show your book should have been sent out, as we have not located it. -.- Luckily it showed up, however the press job done by them was subpar so the book got a 8.0.

    Great book. Being in Australia our group of collectors have horror stories of books going missing. As soon as they leave the warehouses in the US they either are marked as missing or lost, and then sometimes they end up with a courier in Singapore never to be seen again.

    The gamble isn't what grade CGC will give you, its whether or not they will damage your books themselves....

    I often get a bit panicked when big books are shipped. I’ve managed to make things a little easier by getting a PO Box. That way I don’t have to worry about being home when a big CGC box arrives. I also love All-Star Squadron and just got that book in a 9.8, now I’m a little jealous of your SS book. You just need to get Ordway to sign it.

    Had the same issue, but USPS. Sending in to CGC and they damaged the box. CGC rejected it and it was lost for a time.

    Had recent issue with FedEx on a CSG submission. Package left CSG on 9/14 and got it on 9/26. Tracking noted "operational delays", whatever that means. The "unreadable label" also happened to me on the same shipment.

    FedEx is utter crap in my area. They regularly, as in for years, deliver my packages to the wrong address, of which one time was a box of slabs from an auction. Recently, something I ordered through Amazon showed up as having been delivered but it hadn't. When I contacted the seller, they replied they had sent it through FedEx, which explained everything. The package, which supposedly was delivered in mid-August, has still never shown up at my address. Fortunately, it was just a cheap bottle of bathtub cleaner. Unfortunately, I expect this same thing will happen one day with something that's not cheap, like a bunch of slabs.

    Glad you got it, especially comics with value attached to it!
    Fed-Ex and/or their partner program has been getting worse and worse with their service over the past few years. Not sure if its lack of workers or workers not caring, etc. Whatever it is, its a pain in the rear. I'm also action figure junkie (would say collector, but plastic crack y'all) and they've lost a few orders in the past 6 months, and my last 3 deliveries were just tossed off at the end of my drive way. ( I do have a longer than usual drive, but there is a turn around up near the garage for vans to get out easier) USPS has been light years better for me, which is amusing IMO. Still, having something like a 9.8 graded book getting "lost" is stressful. Comics are supposed to be fun, right?

    Hi mint hunter just wondering what packing do you use when you sent books in to CGC

    Good for you that you got your package. Fedex is scary. They "lost" a laptop I ordered. It was on the truck ready for delivery and next thing I know, it went missing! Also, nice to hear you are a fellow Syracuse alum. Go Orange!

    Hitting on the main reason I wouldn't ever send my books out. I've worked in shipping for a long time....this happens A LOT! Honest answer it's gone. With insurance you get the value back and that is all. Then I imagine the great task of having to prove the value of the item. With second hand items I can imagine that would be a huge nightmare.

  • @williambourque926
    @williambourque926 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For a book like that I would probably sit on it. I don't think it's really going to go down in value but it has a chance to obviously go up over time. Put it somewhere and forget you own it.

    Isn't this why it's important to assign the proper value when submitting so that it is insured correctly in the event something like this happens? Or does that have more to do if something happens on their property like a fire or idk... a hurricane?

    If a carrier loses your package, the shipper needs to file a freight claim based on the value of the lost package, then you should get the money back. It may take several months.

    • @consequences
      @consequences 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think you get insurance with FedEx deliveries from CGC unless you use your own FedEx account for shipping. Lately they've defaulted to registered USPS w/$50K insurance, so that's a plus.
