Cheers for checking out my TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G unboxing. That IPS screen boasts an E-Paper style finish that's just as anti-glare as a Kindle, perfect for outdoors shenanigans. Check out the new TCL NXTPAPER 50 using this link: www.amazon.co.uk/TCL-50-Pro-NXTPAPER-5G/dp/B0DCJR98WF And there's a Black Friday sale coming between Nov 13th and Dec 3rd. Nice!
Hey Tech Spurt, your unboxing of the TCL 50 Pro NXTPAPER 5G with that full-color e-paper style was really interesting! You do a great job showing off the tech behind the display. Makes me wonder how many people buy this thinking it has an actual e-ink display somehow layered in with the IPS. I do like the anti-reflective part of it. Good review Mr. Spurt.
The amount of people in the comments saying "well actually its an LCD display" clearly didnt pay attention to the video. He literally calls out that its an IPS display....
Ive seen this phone in person. Given the lack of availability in e-ink phones, this is actually a great compromise.. a lot less glare and so much easier on the eyes than the typical smartphone.
@@Myo.mechanic the screen is a lot less reflective. I have compared it side-by-side with my current phone which has a matte screen protector and the NXTPAPER throws off a lot less light. Plus the 2 'e-paper' modes reduce the vibrancy significantly, making it even more comfortable viewing.
Guys I know it's not E-ink but trust me it's VERY convincing, you have to see this one in person, go in a store and see. I saw this one recently and oh my, i Trilly believed it was a fluid E-ink for some time. Good job TCL They're really trying to do something different

Also TCL 40's light adaptive software is also smarter than both my old phones (which adds to eye comfort). Uncle Spurt, unless I'm mistaken (totally possible as on my third pint of WildCat) this is an lcd display with a minimalist type B&W power saving less distracting optional mode. I think it's the rather jolly good anti glare and rejection coating that makes it more like a book in sunshine (or e-ink). Love that matt back patterning and the booklike packaging. Interesting phone that i would appreciate if we ever got any sunshine in blighty. Just gotta know that TCL makes smartphone too. That book-like box is really aesthetic. And the animations of those different paper style modes are nicely developed. Honestly speaking, I realised that this video is sponsored, just looking at the duration.
I'll definitely be buying another TCL phone I've been impressed with this for the price. One thing to note: the screen scratches fairly easily and it's not practical to fit a screen protector on it because of the matte texture. If I knew this, I'd just buy a standard TCL phone and get a matte screen protector for it.
never thought about putting an ips display in a phone. I have an ips monitor for work and gaming so if you want to get something closer to e-ink without the downsides this makes sense. Cool
Tried it at store. I do like the phone but as someone used to using e-ink reader, I still find the display not on par with e-ink. It's anti-glare, yes, but not really doing enough for minimizing eye-strain.
I understand it's confusing but as far as I can tell no-one has done anything wrong here. The title of the video & description say "E-Paper Style". Nothing about E Ink, the technology made by the identically named E Ink Corporation (which is often synonymous with E-Paper technology) Meanwhile nowhere on TCL's website do they ever utter anything related to "E-Ink". Only NXTPAPER or Electronic Paper (E-Paper) E-Ink is E-Paper, but E-Paper is not always E-Ink.
