It is very touching seeing a bunch of hard men of bike racing, buzzing for you, simply being one of their gang once more. I can guess that many of them think, from time to time, “there but for the grace of god go I”. It’s a fragile existence in bike racing. Not too many a career where a single piece of bad luck can be so consequential.

And when I got back on a bike for the first time I was whooping and hollering inside the helmet for a good few months at how f*^%ing fantastic it felt. Living your best life!!

I was there Lee, on JW's track day in garage 13. Someone said "Lee Johnston's just been past and admired your bike" (RS660 black & white). I went up the pit wall and watched you do some laps. I'm 65 and track days are the best mental and physical therapy for me. I guess last Tuesday it was for you too. Sorry I didn't get to speak but all the best to you.
