Sir, from someone who’s been there, with exactly the same injuries (down to the same wires, bolts and plates), you are an absolute soldier. It took me at least 9 months to be able to speak openly about my crash without falling into tears. It still bothers me and it’s been 12 years. The road to recovery is long but every step is hugely rewarding. You seem to be surrounded by the right people, with kind hearts and that will help immensely. Take your time, don’t rush into anything. We will be here awaiting for the giggles and laughs that’s been mostly this channel. I hope you feel better soon. Thank you for this insight into your rehab. Ps: morphine is a fantastic drug innit 😂
Takes a brave person to open up about the struggles they are facing. Its great to see your up on your feet and getting better every day. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery
Totally agree! Also, anything can be content if ya just post it! Taking the kiddo and lady for a stroll or showing us anything wherever, whenever. Nothing but support from us subscribers, I'm sure of it🎉 No rush!! I'm sure the vast majority of us just like seeing and hearing from you and the fam! I know, I sure do! 🫶
Bloody ell Lee, my wife and I watched it and that takes alot to just even talk about it, even knowing thank goodness you are on the mend, watching the footage was quite emotional. Nobody expects an apology, everyone's just pleased to see you here, wishing you a speedy recovery mate.
Nothing but respect for sharing that footage and talking about what you are going through. The vlog in itself will help you come to terms with the crash and process everything in your own time. Nothing but admiration for you and your family and friends and the amazing team supporting you all.🫶
Lee, my hat is taken off to you sir... Fixing the broken bones is only half the battle, you will have helped so many people just by your openness on addressing the mental side of any trauma. Thank you for letting us into your life, you have some great people around you.
I agree! Well said! So glad he's working through the mental trauma! This journey will inspire & help so many. Continuing prayers for a speedy & complete recovery! 🙏💪💙
I ain't no bike racer Lee but can relate with what you going through I had a big crash on my way to work a car pulled out of a side road and I hit the cars front wheel which sent me about 6ft in the air cartwheeling over the bonnet for about 50ft, I broke my right leg and snapped the 4 major ligaments in my knee, suffered ligament damage to both ankles and shoulders, shattered 8 ribs on the left side with a flail chest and collapsed lung. I can't remember anything apart from waking up in hospital your suffering from PTSD bud. I also spent months apologising, feeling guilty for everyone and crying (even though it wasn't my fault) still have mild PTSD it's been 5 years since the accident my body recovered quickly but it's a struggle to get your mind back your doing the right thing by talking to people and seeking professional help sadly it will always be with you but it's all about how you suppress it. Take care Lee stay strong and always remember to love and respect your family and friends as they went through the ringer with you. 💪👍
I’m only about 2-3 minutes in and I’m so sincerely crushed. You’re a great racer and ever greater person. We’re all praying and pulling for you to recover fully, Lee. All the best for you and your family.
Not gonna lie I had to wipe a few tears watching this. Lee, you are an inspiration. I cannot imagine what you're going through but I know you will get there with bells on. Shout out to your amazing family friends and support network. Take whatever time you need, do whatever you need to do, the racing will be here waiting and so will us fans. All the best mate
Broken bones heal relatively quickly, but a broken mind takes much longer. Takes a brave man to open up and reveal the struggles you’ve been having. But behind every great man, is a greater woman and Christie is with you all the way. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hopefully back on the grid
I had massive head on crash over 20 yes ago.... nearly lost my life....left me with a bad limp and loss of full movement in arm ...I still get emotional passing the crash site to this day.....I same as you had some mental problems for a while....but they will heal in time....all the best ...hope to see you racing again soon...
I'm a caddy at a club in Joisey, and the day after my crash, one of my regulars came by my house, picked up my pain and inflammation scripts, and brought them to the house. Jokingly told him, "I ain't breaking out no kneepads " but......... I will NEVER,...EVER forget dem shits. Plenty of my "friends" have been non-existent, but my man came through for me. Forever indebted. (Plus food and cookies.) Priceless.
Not gonna lie, lump in my throat watching that, until I saw Lees' reaction to the footage, then I teared up big-time. Much respect to you and your family, Lee. All the best for the future, and thanks for being so open about everything.
I don't know you personally Lee but from the bottom of my heart I'm so thankful it wasn't a lot worse. I'm 53 years old and when you replied to one of my comments my fire and kids had a big laugh at the way I was acting like a huge fanboy. All your fan aren't going anywhere God's speed.
Probably took a lot of guts to do this vlog, but it's really good to see you on the mend and smiling again. You've a great bunch of family and friends as a support network, plus all your fans are right behind you. Get well soon Lee, take care.
Lee i have felt your pain, i had a mountain bike crash, but mine was only 10mph, i had two broken and one badly crushed vertebrae, broken neck and a few ribs. My business was closed down, we had to lay staff off. I went through the same depression thing, cried my eyes out and drove my wife up walls. It was the Royal who fixed me up. You haven't let anyone down and sometimes the best thing is to talk about what happened. You have a great partner in Christie, appreciate everything she does for you. Take care of you.
Pleased don’t beat yourself up Lee,people don’t think you’ve let them down. Your a loveable character and very funny, concentrate on your recovery and your family. Get well soon.👍👍
Without meaning to sound like a soppy git, I think this video really shows what a good team yourself and Christie are. All the little bits where you say "cut that out" which has actually been left in are the really true bits. The way she helps you put these together or the way you ask her what to say, or the way you look at each other etc. really shows how you support one another. Especially as Christie has been quite open on her social media at times about her struggles mentally so i guess she can sympathise how you feel. The fact this video is so "real" is really nice. No fancy set ups, just a couple of people talking about what's happened. Hope you get better soon Lee! And i hope Christie is also dealing ok with the stress of it all!
As a 60 year old biker whose been through some damage over the years..I can say you Lee, and your beautiful family are all you need to help you get over the mental pain and doubts. The physical stuff will mend and they will help you get back to your old self. Your health care team, your mates, your team and your sponsors are all wanting you to get back to your old self . Take your bloody time and enjoy your beautiful family time. When the body's repaired your mind will also process everything and you are the one thats in charge of that. Wishing you and your family all the very best in your full recovery and take your time when you first get back on the bike...that's a big hurdle getting back to normal. Big man hugs to you and lots of love to you all. ❤🏍️💨🤕👍
I'm a bit speechless after watching this. I've grown into a big fan of yours and road racing because of you and your channel. I'll be honest and say that this was a tough video to watch, but extremely grateful that you and Christie decided to share so much. Wishing you both the best future, whatever shape it takes, and a speedy recovery. 💙
Doing the blog at all is impressive, counting the minutes until you get the next hit of pain killers, memory that may never come, exercise bike was the biggest help in getting mobile again. Demon's or not your turning it around faster than I did and I was no where near as banged up. Respect.
Lee, I have no, or few words. Just thanks for your honesty, transparency, and words of encouragement to those who suffer mental trauma. Your a great guy, get well soon.
I think we have become a bit sterilised by seeing a rider crash and break a leg or foot over the years, just by seeing them back in a couple of weeks, and there rightly called heroes of the sport we love. I think that this Vlog may have woken up the realisation that a crash can not only cause the physical injuries, but the mental trauma can be just as, if not sometimes worse. your honesty in this Vlog is truly inspiring. The love you have for the sport, the team, the riders, but above all Christie and Jessie really shines through in the most amazing manner. Of course we want you back, all your supporters want you back, but you have definitely, 100 percent, no way have you let anyone of us down. You never let us down Lee. Listen to the specialists, especially Christie, get yourself fit and healthy and we all look forward to seeing you on a bike or in a paddock soon. Get well soon Lee, we all wish you the best. Oh and yes Christie needs to be front of the camera, You two are natural together. Best wishes M.
For all the winding up of Neil infront of the vlogs it just shows his true value of a personal and working friendship, your wife's an angel, but I guess you knew that already, and the ickle one is credit to both ,no need for feelings of letting people down Lee, just rest up ,and wonder how lucky you are to have a very large web of friends to support you ,all the best for the future
I think that’s the most honest post crash vlog I have ever watched. The upmost respect to you for doing it and feel sure I speak for everyone, that we are just glad you are in one piece🙏. We always knew Neil and the crew were like family and here is the proof. Get well soon, we all wish you a speedy recovery, stay strong….Big love and positive thoughts from the whole biking community
As fans of the sport I think were so used to seeing bike racers getting hurt and simply disapearing for a bit. I think we dont fully apreciate the toll this sort of thing takes. Of course we worry for them, and wish them the best in their recovery. But in the back of my mind at least, weather its Marquez or anybody else, I tend to think "Ah well theyre big boys , bones will heal. A few pain killers and some physio and theyll be right." Or at least thats what id like to believe. This video really brings it home. This is real trauma and these guys are only human. Thanks for being so open about it. I'm glad to see that you are on the mend lee. looking forward to seeing more from you.
Lee, you sir might be short but your one giant of a man, takes some bloody big balls to go through that, even bigger to talk openly and honestly about the effect its had. Even if you never looked at a bike again you've won the greatest prize ever having Christie in your corner. Ps. Neil's not gonna be happy you've outted him as the great big carebear that we all secretly knew he is.
Lee, this is the most honsest and most heavy bike race vlog I have ever seen. I love the truth on how hard it has been, best of luck with your recovery
Hi Lee To be totally honest I had never heard of Lee Johnston until a few months ago when I fell across Between the Hedges and then I was a fan. Your very entertaining mate and I admire anyone that can do what you can do on a bike and looked forward to following you at the IOM this year. I m so sorry you were unable to race but so happy you are on the mend. I have ridden bikes for years and follow Motogp and WSBK and after watching ALL of the TT+ coverage the IOM and other road races are a must see for me moving forward. Hands down what you guys and girls do on public roads is nothing but superhuman. Rest and recover mate take all the time you need to get right both physically and mentally. I look forward to following your blogs and hopefully you back at the TT next year An Aussie fan Garry
Takes a big man to be able to open up and show this side of racing/life. Said it before but big up to you and Chrissie for putting your content together, especially what must be so hard for you both to discuss. ❤
Never, ever, apologize for being human! Your wellbeing is the most important thing in the world, for your family, for your friends, and even for your fans!! TH-cam will still be here to post on when you feel like it again!! You do You first! I truly think, it's a beautiful, and brave, thing, when someone opens up about the mental struggles they are having, and showing the world that it's not something to be ashamed of!!! Many men think it's not ''manly'' to speak about their feelings, or cry when they feel like it...., but they are wrong, because a real man does!! I wish you, and your family, all best with your recovery!! ❤ BTW: Your wife is a lovely addition to your blog!
Opening up and sharing how you were and are truly feeling takes a hell of a lot! Really appreciate you sharing this with us! I think i can speak for everyone here when I say I’m so glad to see your recovering and getting back to normal. Won’t lie I shed a few tears watching this! Don’t apologise for anything, we are just glad your here and on the road to recovery :)
Buddy, I’ll be honest, I couldn’t watch the crash. I’m really happy you’re up and around. Continue to get better. I truly miss your vlogs and comical perspective on racing, family etc!
Bloody hell.... that was hard to watch, can't even begin to imagine what you felt to see it on screen. Been following you with age's, what can I say? You are a legend and best wishes, hopefully you'll recover more and more every day. Take care.
Glad your still with us and hopes for a speedy and full recovery. But also super happy that you got to experience what it's like being tall and having to adjust a camera to fit in the top of your head, if only for a few seconds!
Thanks for opening up on your mental trauma, many avoid the subject or consider it "weakness". Talking about it shows great courage, you have my utmost respect. I hope you get better soon and look forward to seeing you race again.
Well done for making this Christie, I know it sounds hard to people who don't understand but we expect this from our heroes like Lee. What we don't see enough of is how they need the ones they love supporting them and going through pure hell to get them through it. Well done girl and the both of you keep loving each other.
@@christiegee2202 agree! 😇 Please don't hesitate to reach out to us, your extended family you've yet to meet, for help towards medical or any other costs, etc. Maybe some merch available? Much ❤️🩹🙏 from 🇺🇸
Wow Lee and Christy Made it to 4 minutes 50. What you're saying is exactly how I felt in 2017 with not the best cancer diagnosis. Blame, loss of self esteem, feeling stupid,my fault, let people down, can deal with this alone because I caused all the above. Still hurting physically and more importantly mentally = massive point. So glad you listened to some wise words and sort professional help, great job. Took me a year to realize that life ain't to bad from a very dark hole. Love you man. Regards
I struggle with trauma from my past and I have so much respect for you opening up to your fans about your struggles. You're an absolute inspirational human and I wish you all the best on your recovery, thank you for sharing some of the hardest moments of your life so far with us all, it is very much appreciated, take care Lee.
Lee you’re one of the nicest blokes in motorbike racing, thank you for sharing this side of the sport with us all. I’m from the Isle of Man, you were missed this TT, I doubt you’ll remember but you came down the hyperbaric a few years ago, next to the fire station and we let you have a go of the hydraulic cutting (jaws of life) at the fire station where I work in Douglas! All the best to you and your family! 🚒🤙
Great to see you Lee. My Dad and I have been following you for a while and he was on end of life care around the time of your accident and was still regularly asking how you were until he passed. Take care and take your time. Best wishes to you all
Bravest interview ive ever watched. The fact u have been so open about your emotions and dealing with the aftermath!! So proud of u lee absolutely amazing seeing the other side of racing! All the best to u and your family 🙏👍
What can I say. After my off at Oulton last march ending my season, I really struggled with lots of stuff, this vlog really shows an insight to post crash trauma. I hope non racers, wives girlfriends and mates watch this. Took weeks for me too watch the on board footage of my crash. Stay strong and looking forward to more content and seeing back on a bike
It's a brave thing to do to show you're out look on this with the world. There are many riders that would not have been so open. Don't stop doing what makes you you.
Wow this is such an unbelievably raw video. You have some amazing support right there. Such a brilliant character. Thank god you are still with us. Thank you both for sharing this. Get well soon mate.
Bro, I am an American. Not very proud at the moment about that but still American😆what you ALL are doing is incredible! Period. So much respect for all of you! Take it one day at a time and please don’t forget to be praying. Often. You all ain’t playing golf! So, please be ready if it is your time🙏all my love, prayers and respect to you Lee and your entire family and crew!
Lee, I applaud your honesty. PTSD is a bastard... glad to see you are on the mend.. wounds heal. bones mend, but getting the head dialed in again is so important. keep well.
Firstly, I am pleased to see you are improving! It must have been hard filming this. But it's clear to see you are surrounded by love and support from family friends colleagues and us loyal fans are all behind you too!
Hiya Lee, great to see you getting back to something like your usual manner. We exchanged a nod and a grin in the paddock at the Classic Manx in 2018, I was there doing the parade lap on my Classic Race Laverda that I ride in British Historic Racing club's BEARS F3 class. This was the best biking day of my life just to ride around that course. Having a smile and a nod from you and others made it more memorable for me, it was my 60th birthday celebration, made me feel part of something very special. Since then, I have had a lot of trauma, losing family including my darling son, also called Lee funnily enough. The reason for commenting is the mental stuff. It took for ever for me to get to talk to sombody that I trusted, that could provide a bit of insight into what was and is going on in my head. Don't be shy about talking to counsellors or therapists. On my second visit I spent an hour or so telling them how I didn't think it was for me and could't see it helping - I wondered whay she kept smiling at me. I have come to understand that things will never be the same but I am learning to apreciate things again. I am very close to my wife as you obviously are to yours, but I did find it really helpful to talk to someone outside of my close circle. Anyway, glad to see your spriit is coming back to you, take your time, have fun with the family and have full and speedy recovery, cheers mate - good luck
No idea what to comment really, but feel I need to as I found this emotional and upsetting…. I can only begin to imagine the physical and mental pain you have been through and are still currently enduring. To share in such an honest way, on a fully public platform, is truly courageous. I’m sure many of your supporters, like I was, were reduced to tears watching. And then there’s Christie, what can you say…. She must be an absolute rock of a Woman. I wish you a full and speedy recovery Lee, we all love you mate.
So many men will take something from this video, Lee. Too many of us refuse to be seen to be vulnerable, and that only prevents us from talking and improving our mental health. (Please don't think I'm isolating women, I'm just an advocate for men learning, it's OK to talk about our feelings) All the very best Lee, your boy will be delighted to have his Dad home.
Won’t hear it champ !! Just keep your head high! You have the entire community behind you ! But more importantly christy and Jesse ❤ You will come back strong And this is directly to you christy! Your amazing!
You come across as a very genuine and sincere person, and i hope you can make a full recovery, both physically and mentally. You and your family are all that matters.
I watched this last night and honestly you don't need to apologise to any fans. You and your family are absolute gems. Credit to your supportive wife. And you deserve credit for admitting things were not alright. Wishing you the absolute best in your recovery ❤
Respect for talking about it and even this video is part of the healing process.. As my friend Doc John once said. He could turn up to a crash that was carnage and the rider was OK and just shocked and some bruises or he could turn up to something that looks nothing and need every took in his medical kit to help the rider.. It is one side of racing we don't think about even though we know can happen, but it happens to others, so it is put into the back of your mind. Get well soon and keep talking to the therapist..
We love y'alls so much. I stopped here at 15:15. I don't need to see the crash. On my push bike 1964, one week into summer after the 7th grade (age 12) and I turned to cross the highway without looking behind to see the car doin' 60.. bam. Broke my left femur and stuff. In those days there was no rod inserted, so I had to lay in traction for 6 weeks in the hospital, and they wouldn't un-hook me to go to the toilet, instead they insisted I shit in a pan. Well, I held out for 8 days, but came after me with a bag of soapy water and a hose... Anyways. Now I'm almost 72, a bit limpy but happy due to those around me. I been thinking about you and your family a lot - It's really nice to hear from you.
Lee, for you to open up about the difficult feelings you are having is immense and shows how strong you really are. They breed them strong in NI. Simply seeing you and the fact you are getting better each day is an absolute tonic. Keep it up and hope to see you in the paddock soon. PS, I thought I saw Neil smiling briefly!!! ❤
Get better Lee! Fan from the states, IOM TT got me started riding 10 years ago and just built enough money to do a bunch of track days. Thank you for the inspiration! Keep up with the vlogs!
I'm glad you are on the mend both physically and mentally! You're one tough man and also lucky to have such great love and support from family and friends. Nothing to be ashamed of for seeking help in regards to your mental health. Remember, it is a marathon and not a sprint to heal up physically and mentally. Just like recovering physically, mentally your gonna have good days and bad days. Keep fighting the good fight! I'll keep you and your family and friends in my prayers. Cheers from a US fan!
I randomly came across your vlog but im glad i did. I follow Billy Bolt and the hard enduro guys. That's my thing but huge respect to you guy's who do the speed racing. Hope you feel better soon. PS i posted a comment on Billy's channel saying that they should invite you onto their podcast for a chat seeing as how you've all recently had crashes.
Man that crash was obviously a tough watch...and it was "spectacular" enough! Know that there are fans all over the world (this one in New Zealand) that are still cheering you on. It's a privilege to be able to somehow accompany you on the journey thru these vlogs...and as always, do what is right for you and your family...if that means taking a break in vlogging or going hard out vlogging we will all understand. Rest up and get well!
As someone who lives with post Traumatic Stress I understand the things you described, it's called survivor guilt. Also not being able to remember the crash etc is the brain protecting you, I wish I couldn't remember what happened to me as it haunts you especially at night. You have good people around you so open up to them and don't bottle things up!! Great to see you on the mend, just don't rush things. Must have been tough to watch the crash then make this video so thanks for posting!! Take care young man!!
It's just good to see you on camera again. Don't rush your recovery Lee & it's good to see you still have your sense of humour despite all the setbacks. Your family, team & friends are amazing. I'm so pleased to see you are getting stronger & look forward to watching your progress. Well done Christie & Jesse you're his rock
Hi Lee , you are doing amazing , after an accident it is usually the mental health side off it that takes the longest to heal , and you are just going through the motions , anxiety is a strange thing , and nobody knows what it like until you experience it ….. take as long as you need life is so precious, lots of love shelley ❤
OMG I’m getting emotional just watching it, big respect for talking about it and showing us the footage. So glad you’re on the mend and know there are a lot of fans out there wishing you well and thank you to all marshals medics doctors and nurses. Good on you Lee😊
Fair play to you, that was a video well worth making. I'm sure it was difficult to put together, it wasn't an easy watch, but a very worthwhile watch. Good luck with your recovery!
Such an honest open and moving piece of filming - good on you both for doing this and so much respect to you for being willing to share your awful experience with us all. The calmness of those medics treating you was something else Great to see you both smiling and the amazing chemistry you have together - to have some humour each day is a good place to get better from
I would like to say something but I don't know what to say. Your honesty and how you explained your emotional state is inspirational, Thank you for sharing that... I hope you get to re-pack that car in a way that everything goes back in order and the correct places... The very best wishes to you and your family, I hope your recovery is as painless and quick as can be...
Takes a big man to say what you said about your emotions the last few months Lee. I really hope you’re back to your old self asap. You’ve got good people around you after all. All the best
Hugh respect to showing the vulnerabilities and outcomes of trauma. It shows a huge strength of character to be able to open up and show how you feel. This must feel like a huge step in progress of being able to openly discuss how felt and how it feels now. A must watch for anyone to understand the emotional impacts of trauma that occur beyond the physical signs. May your continued recovery and progress see you back to where you want to be as soon as possible.
Glad your still with us here lee, no need to apologise about anything all you need to do is take your time healing , speedy recovery you have amazing people around you and Jessie is so bravo he's a champ
You just absolutely impressed me Lee!! Amazing to see how you handle everything and deal with it. And yes the trauma is an injury just like your broken bones. So so cool and impressive that you talk about it. Love it that you're being open about it. Thank you a lot for sharing all of this. Kind of an eyeopener. You're amazing and you will get there! ❤
As a fan of all while I follow & admire all categories of this sport , it seems to have high highs & low lows for so many. Injuries & recovery of different whatever’s are nothing short of character building & some. You may be the one hurting but what a team around you. I met you at PI while Jesse was a bump in Christie at the trophy presentation on the balcony. It has been a pleasure being a fan along the way. Take care bouncing back to you all.
Great to see you're making progress Lee. Massive respect for showing the other side of recovering from a crash, it's something us fans don't see or probably even consider really. You've got some great people around you and we all knew Neil loved you really! Vlog when you want, don't feel obliged to, we'll all still be here when you do.
Oh wow Lee and Christy, we had our hearts in our mouths watching this. We can only imagine a fraction of what this whole experience must feel like it and seeing it unfold on camera must have been an extremely hard watch for you both. Please don’t apologise Lee for giving us a glimpse of the pain this trauma is causing you, we love the ‘you’ you share with us followers and we love you even more for keeping it so real. Take your time to get well and get strong. Team Lee Johnston will ride again and we can’t wait to see that 😊 love to you all x
Hey Lee - that must have been so hard for you to put together. Its been a tough time for you, Kristy and the rest of the team. My partner went through something very similar just before the new year. His injuries were not nearly as extensive as yours although he was incredibly lucky not to die as his leg was all but ripped off in his crash - unfortunately they couldn't save his leg, but he's fought hard and hoping to be back on his bikes before the end of this year. I hope Kristy is looking after herself as well as looking after you, you both need to take as much time as you need to heal both mentally and physically. But it was good to see you up and about. We should have been at the TT this year (for the first time) and were hoping to see you there, but then couldn't travel (from Australia) due to my partner, Les's, injuries and have had to delay our plans until next year. We'll look out for you when we're there! :) x
Mate, thanks for the update. I wish you so well getting better and to your family, amazing work standing by everything, including what's to come. I have nothing to compare but at my work I had a pretty violent incident that broke up my relationship and ended up breaking me. You are 100% correct by not bottling it up but talking to some one(sometimes a professional stranger) the world seems dark but it will improve and things will get better. It'll make you more understanding and sympathetic to others who go through similar trauma. Remember there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. But don't hide thoughts or feelings from your wife, your family or your friends. Remember they might not know or understand what you are going through. Talk it out even the stupid little stuff. The dreams, the daily events that trigger memories. Even today I can't wear a tie. My son knows this and has changed his hand grip around my neck (during his piggyback rides) to relieve the fear I get. Stay strong my (although far better) racing brother.
Do not apologise to anyone on here. We're all so glad to see you and how your recovery is going . Christie is a diamond along with everyone around you , in fact all of us here and the wider world. Stay strong
Thank you for opening this with the impact and complexity of life when your mind is 'not right'. As you say, the cause of not right can be many and varied - could be different kinds of trauma and/or any other thing(s), but 'it takes balls to talk' and a certain kind of bravery for people (particularly men at present) to ask the right professionals for support. There is a silver lining out there, people just need to keep their focus and have some way of grounding themselves when things go a bit haywire. Psychologists have those tools in their toolbox and usually find the most effective ways first. Sorry to make this a post about the bigger picture, but I also hope someone out there listens to you, recognises what you're saying, and picks up the phone. Huge respect to you Lee and I wish you and your family all the positivity this life can bring. Onward and upward (Every day) 💪
Much respect for doing this video Lee you don't have to apologize to anyone. Everyone who's raced motorcycles or ridden motorcycles knows crashing isn't a walk in the park. It's the dark side that is never spoken about. To everyone involved in helping Lee get well thank you, you people are heroes.
Don't worry about the crying. I was out for a week and took about 4-5 months to be walking again. Out of hospital only place I could be comfortable was in a recliner chair so spent weeks in it. I think the frustration of not being able to move, let alone do the things you want/need to is harder to deal with than the physical pain and that gets you down. Great to see up up and moving, I'll bet you bounce back faster than you give yourself credit for. The pain when you sneeze can take a year to fade (ribs!), it takes time, so don't worry, it does get better. Getting back on a bike at a track day helped too. I was never at your level so I had it easier but the man in the blog will succeed, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog. Good to know Neil heart is as big as his belly 🙂
Fella you've no reason to apologise for not vlogging , it takes a lot of balls to admit you're going through physical and mental shit at the moment , you're an inspiration to people going through the same things , take care fella x
Fair play Lee for showing the mega highs and tremendous lows of bike racing. The sign on the gate does say ‘Motorsport is Dangerous’ but at times we feel invincible, it is only when things go wrong you realise how selfish and hard it is on everybody around us. Hope you heal quickly and are back to chasing the dream asap 👍
It’s strange, I don’t actually know you and you certainly don’t know me, but your vlogs always seem personal. You make it feel like we’re there with you, part of the team and your best mate. You bring us on your journey through the high’s and lows, I have to wipe away the tears watching this as it’s so honest and real. I feel a bit of a fool writing this, I’m just an old, ex racer, living in the IOM, but my heart goes out to you , your family , team and “real” friends. Get well soon fella, and best wishes to everyone.
Well done fella for having the motivation to get back to some kind of normal!!! This shows the Uggly side of racing , so glad you’ve got the right people around you , thank you Christie for making the vlog ,tough to watch it back for sure , but lees in good hands.👍🏻.
Fucking hell Lee😢 I'm in bits for ya, I had a similar crash myself just road riding, which ended my racing journey and I fully understand what you've gone through. Massive hugs to you, Christie and Jessie. Heal up fella, don't rush back to a bike take your time. Keep ya chin up, you will get better pal, it just takes time. Massive love to you ❤❤
Full respect to you lee, get well soon matey , your a lucky man 👍🏼 And your very lucky to have Christy supporting you . Hope to see you around the tracks soon buddy 👍🏼
As a long term race Marshal I have been on the scene at numerous bike, car and truck accidents. Some fatal. We have often been offered counselling to deal with the trauma. But to see it through the eyes of the racer puts it into a different category. For you it is both mentally and physically challenging. You have great support around you. Use it and get better.
Absolutely incredible, shame it wasn't a very spectacular crash. Very lucky man. Unbelievable how much you got injured, no need for apology your a great guy with a fantastic wife and family behind you. Amazing vlog as always great to see you on the mend. All the best
You don’t have to apologise, we all understand just take your time and get yourself fit and sorted
Nothing but support from us subscribers, I'm sure of it🎉
No rush!!
Love seeing Christie too. It's great to hear her point of view as she's such an integral part to your family and racing
TH-cam is so crazy, its makes things so personable, its like we know you, properly, I have never cared so much for a stranger 😂.
Glad to see your back
Total respect for opening up on Lee. Takes a strong person to bare their sole about something so personal. Inspirational and all the best.
No need to apologize Lee,you haven’t let anyone down take care pal and look after yourself and your family 👍🏻🏴
Neil went from Grumpy Bear to Tenderheart Bear❤️🩹🧸
Lee, this is the most honsest and most heavy bike race vlog I have ever seen. I love the truth on how hard it has been, best of luck with your recovery
Hi Lee
To be totally honest I had never heard of Lee Johnston until a few months ago when I fell across Between the Hedges and then I was a fan.
I look forward to following your blogs and hopefully you back at the TT next year
An Aussie fan
Garry
BTW: Your wife is a lovely addition to your blog!
Take care.
Life is one big struggle, you have a better life then most will ever have . Keep safe mate
That’s a really kind message. Thank you 😌
@@christiegee2202 agree! 😇 Please don't hesitate to reach out to us, your extended family you've yet to meet, for help towards medical or any other costs, etc. Maybe some merch available?
Much ❤️🩹🙏 from 🇺🇸
Wow Lee and Christy
Made it to 4 minutes 50.
Neal !!!! I bet you're happy he's been bulking up otherwise he wouldn't be able to carry you ! You're brave man Sir !
So glad you're still here. I know Neil shed a few tears, I want to see him admit it.
Best wishes for your recovery, as well!💪✌️
It's a brave thing to do to show you're out look on this with the world.
(Please don't think I'm isolating women, I'm just an advocate for men learning, it's OK to talk about our feelings)
All the very best Lee, your boy will be delighted to have his Dad home.
Won’t hear it champ !! Just keep your head high!
You have the entire community behind you ! But more importantly christy and Jesse ❤
You will come back strong
And this is directly to you christy!
You have a wonderful supportive wife who needs the biggest credit for your recovery
Fantastic to see you on the mend . You have a great team behind you good luck and here’s to a speedy return to health.
Get well soon Lee!
The calmness of those medics treating you was something else
Great to see you both smiling and the amazing chemistry you have together - to have some humour each day is a good place to get better from
I would like to say something but I don't know what to say.
Hard watch 💔 sending you, Christie and Jesse all the love in the world! Wishing you a speedy recovery Lee, take care x
So brave to share x
Good to see you on the road to recovery wee man.. I know exactly what you’ve gone through… been there.
Always at the end of the phone 👍
Oh wow Lee and Christy, we had our hearts in our mouths watching this. We can only imagine a fraction of what this whole experience must feel like it and seeing it unfold on camera must have been an extremely hard watch for you both. Please don’t apologise Lee for giving us a glimpse of the pain this trauma is causing you, we love the ‘you’ you share with us followers and we love you even more for keeping it so real. Take your time to get well and get strong. Team Lee Johnston will ride again and we can’t wait to see that 😊 love to you all x
Bloody 😢 from start. Mate. Really pleased on the mead look after yourself and family ❤love Rapha hat
Onward and upward (Every day) 💪
You and Sweeney making a days of thunder remake? Get well soon chief 💪🏻
My goodness lee . That was hardcore to watch … fair play for sharing it … you’ll bounce back
Much respect for doing this video Lee you don't have to apologize to anyone.
Ditto. Another ex racing fool on the Iom
Massive love to you ❤❤
Full respect to you lee, get well soon matey , your a lucky man 👍🏼
And your very lucky to have Christy supporting you .
