      Thank you so much for your comment. I have noticed that there are many videos where they only show bits and pieces of what they have done. I wanted this video to be detailed enough for most anyone to be able to tackle this job. Thanks for noticing.

      @@MudRFunR Update to let you know, I was halfway on taking the fender off, when I noticed that on the 99 -00 Suburban, they give a space to get to the starter. I felt so stupid not seeing that at first, but by your video, the job was a piece of cake. Also, the new starters for this vehicle is almost twice the size of the original, but had plenty of room for it. Just have to re-bend the heat shield a bit is all. Outstanding instructional video. Hats off to you sir. 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 I salute you. JB

      @@MudRFunR thanks for the help my friend just finished doing a complete rust free frame swap.As well as main wiring harness was water logged and had to be replaced as well as the abs unit,low km engine swap,rear axle, front transfer case ,trans mount ,stainless brake lines and brakes , rear brake dust shields and ebrake cable .i bought the truck thinking it was in mint condition had tons of undercoating every where but just my luck the frame was also rotted behind the fuel tank . I paid 3 k for truck then another 8k for all the work that was done but now it’s like new and the motor only has 109.000km .sucks that the front of the box is rotted but I’m thinking the front being ribbed from the factory it might be easier to just cut the middle out and put in a piece of diamond plate . That way it will be 100% flat and will use rivets and 3m 5200 and I hopefully will not have any leaks

    Where in 🇨🇦? My passenger fender is in the same shape as that (I can see rust bubbles above the flare, stuck my head in the wheel well and can see a hole in the fender..). How much was the fender? I need one for a 99-06 1500

      I'm in South-western Ontario. I paid $280 plus tax for an aftermarket fender. The factory fender was nearly $500.

    Starting this project on my 2003 Silverado LS 4.8 in New York state - salt salt. Earlier in your video you say you neglected to oil yours. What to do you mean by oil it?
    Also, at 6.22 in your video you showing detaching a 10 mm nut for a wire or strap that goes from the hood to the firewall. Do you know what is the purpose of that strap - wire?

    • @MudRFunR
      @MudRFunR  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would have said that this strap is for an underhood light but it seems it does more than that. I looked up some answers. Some say it reduced radio noise from the engine. Here is an interesting story that I copied from GM Truck Club... "There was a lady who bought a buick lesabre brand new and her first drive to work the car died on the highway. The dealer towed it back and after inspecting found nothing wrong, the car started right up no problems to be found and gave it back. The next day same thing, died in the same spot. After a few more tows back to the dealer and always dieing in the same spot one of the techs rode with her to see if she was doing something wrong. Sure enough the engine stalled in the same spot. The tech looked around and found nothing wrong under the hood but then noticed the hood ground strap was not connected from the factory so while waiting for the tow he took care of it. The truck arrives and they go to load it on the rollback but it starts up. Baffled they do more test drives with no more problems. After writing a report for gm he got a phone call from gm's diagnostic center. They asked him if there were high tension power lines that crossed the highway where it died, and there was. The interference from the powerwires were amplified by the ungrounded hood and affected the crank position signal in the coil module.
      Random things like ground straps and weights bolted to exhausts are there for a reason, be it obvious or not"

      @dennisedwards8954 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MudRFunR I started on the passenger side fender today. One more bolt to go then prop up the hood. When I'm done with that fender I'll fix that strap again. Did so years ago. Then and now I never noticed any adverse effect with it broken. But, somebody wiser than I -haha-decided it was necessary so, I fix it again
      Somewhere else in your video comments you mentioned oiling your your truck-I suspect you mean spraying used motor oil beneath it to deter rust.
