The repair bill from a minor front end collision would be significant without a separate functional bumper. I don't like the trend for the integrated front grill/bumper in these newer vehicles, regardless of the aesthetics.

The plastic airdams and bumpercovers on new "4WDs" are too vulnerable, IMO.
I'm fabricating some high-clearance, steel, receiver-hitch bumpers for my Crosstrek this year. I still want siped mudders, rockers, and a rear diff-locker too. It already has skids, taller ATs, and a winch.
I may put a removable tire-swing on the rear bumper.

I don't understand why Lexus doesn't offer factory triple lockers on the LX600 in North America like they do in Japan. Land Cruiser fans will at least take that into consideration and potentially migrate to the LX series. What some people don't realize is that one day you can find yourself in a precarious position where you are wishing you had one of these. That happened to me on two occasions where my AWD car barely made it through. Once was during a very bad snowstorm and the other during the summer right after a strong thunderstorm had flooded out the highway. In both those instances I left my home under one set of conditions only to later find myself in something very different.

The last of the solid axle Land Cruisers wagons and the last Land Cruiser that you can get triple lockers from the factory. Lexus versions of the Land Cruiser Prado are the GX470 (LC Prado 120 series) and GX460 (LC Prado 150 series).

To bad you can't get all the Landcruiser options in the Tundra. Afterall a crew crab truck isn't that much bigger than the SUV and it would be allot better for overlanding anyway once you load it with goodies.

I kinda like the TLC300, Lexus is slightly better visually to me but still nowhere near the W167 Mercedes or my personal #1 most beautiful car in history Land Rover Defender 110. I don't get the small wheels and the short length, short wheelbase sillhouette. Maybe watching TFL I've got used to the looks of Ford Bronco, Ram 1500 TRX and other extreme vehicles but I think those Lexus wheels look tiny. Are they 29s?

For such a capable vehicle like this that has such offroad capabilities, a real metal bumper with protection and functionality would have been ideal?

When you guys say nobody will take these off-road you’re just wrong. Get into any 2nd home area outside of a metro area and people are using stuff like these to get to their 2nd homes that are definitely in the mountains and on un-maintained roads that are miles long. These roads cross streams, get washed out frequently, are muddy etc. I have a little cabin more than two miles down a private road and it’s surrounded by million dollar properties and nobody wants to pay for upkeep.

Toyota discontinuing the Land Cruiser is like Chevy or Ford discontinuing Corvette or Mustang; it's a halo car with value beyond sales numbers and profit margins. I really don't get it (and yes, I know it's still offered in other markets).

I'm really happy Lexus provided the option for 18 inch wheels. I'm not quite sure if 17s can clear the brakes but at least with 18s, people can fit Land Cruiser size tires and make the most out of the truck. That's not quite true with its competitors 😂 COUGH land rover

I'll stand by my previous statement, the more expensive the vehicle, the slower you guys drive them. This $100+K vehicle your driving off-road at less than a walking speed, by my observations at a price of 300K you'll be "driving" imperceptible slow, essentially, standing still...no Mr Majestyk for you!

Stupid amount on Toyota tax in that list price, friend of mine in Australia just bought a landcruiser 300 GR and it cost him 140K Aust list, he had it a week and some dude in Sydney offered him 40K over list to but it from him. He sold it on the spot, he wasn't happy with it as down there he only engine choice is a 3,3 v6 diesel, and is now looking for a Troopy to convert to an overlander/camper, they do flip top camper conversions on them in Oz. Look up 4x4 Overland on here, that guy is also doing that conversion and blogging the build. Wish we could get the 70 Series here in the US, simple, indestructible and comes with a 4.5 v8 tubo diesel, my cousins down there all have them.
