    The problem is that most naturals do a lot of EXTRA when only the basics are needed. Shampoo, condition, leave it in for a bit to soften the hair then de-tangle. Most naturals have to per-poo, leave in for an hour, shampoo, condition wash out a perfectly good conditioner so you can put on the deep condition which isn't necessary for ever wash day. Leave on for two hours, wash it all out then put leave in and oil. All while sectioning and re-sectioning. Honestly, I HATE the term wash day. I think "wash day" is okay when you first go natural cause you are learning your hair but once you figure it out, your hair shouldn't take more than an hour or an hour and half. If it's taking 5 to 6 hours out of your day you need to rethink what you are doing. That was the biggest thing I learned.

      +alice wonder i was referring to transitioning days not 100% natural. Two completely different situations

    • @avionmember101
      @avionmember101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Detangling takes FOREVER for me. I've been natural all my life and it never takes me less than 30 minutes especially after a wash and go, but then again I credit my long hair to careful detangling. That's definitely the longest part of my wash day

    • @avionmember101
      @avionmember101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      And I totally agree with the minimal product usage. Here is what I think all natural need:
      Shampoo
      Conditioner
      Leave in
      Oil
      Gel/ holding product (for twist outs and wash and gos)
      That's it.

    i just wanted to add that transitioning does not have to be expensive. Alot of people myself included become product junkies too quickly. im 4 months post and amazon etc has been dropping products off once a week. just a good shampoo...conditioner and oil or moisturizer is all you need.

    • @nnekaokay7141
      @nnekaokay7141 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lol I keep saying I wouldn't buy anymore but amazon is like a one stop shop on my phone , last order last night was for satin pillowcases. hopefully I stop there. been tempted to look for additional carrier oils but enough is enough now :-D I'm only 3 weeks into my hair journey :-/

      Amazon was my place to be for the first couple months of my journey. I bought oils, shampoos, conditioners... Last thing I bought was a silk pillowcase. The mailman would come around so often with an Amazon box. Now, I'm controlling myself haha.

    • @christyjohnson1799
      @christyjohnson1799 8 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      it depends what products you use. Shea Moisture is pretty inexpensive and Sallys or even Walgreens have sales. You can buy oils from the grocery store for cheap too, EVOO or coconut oil

  • @Justsay_Jackie

    One of the best things I learned was to keep it simple. I got so caught up in doing and trying EVERYTHING I saw on pinterest or youtube lol. I was so busy making all these DIY concoctions, trying all these different methods and treatments, that I wasn't paying attention to my hair or creating a regimen (my hair hated all that extra stuff).
    Long story short: keep it simple and listen to your hair. I finally learned I can't co-wash my hair, finger-combing alone is not for me, and diy products are not a necessity.

    Thanks! This is very helpful. I am approaching the 4 month mark in my journey. I'm not nearly as frustrated with my natural hair as I am with my relaxed hair. It's as if my relaxed hair knows I will be getting rid of it, so it started acting out lol. Knotting, matting, being extra stringy lol!

    • @Justsay_Jackie
      @Justsay_Jackie 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Jayariee 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Jasmine Cherry i think i''m close to 6 months transitioning and i found it moisturizing my hair at intervals during the drying process really helps with the matting. Twists outs/braid outs are definitely not for me but i've been working around it

    • @allisononyoutube5794
      @allisononyoutube5794 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Girl I'm right with you on that. When I moisturize and coconut oil my new growth it is easier to comb through than my relaxed hair.

    • @CharynGant
      @CharynGant 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Jasmine Cherry That's hilarious because I think my permed hair is doing the same thing! I'm 3 months in and it's just actin' out! LOL! The hair knows...

    • @theesky
      @theesky 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jasmine Cherry Mine too!! i've been transitioning since my last relaxer last June and it doesnt matter what I do, it always acts out! My natural hair is so easy to detangle and it does well with conditioner, oil, gel, everything but my relaxed ends are not having it. they tangle, they Matt up, they break off. it's nearly impossible to do any protective style because when I do them, my natural hair will hold enough grip to do them and stay soft, but the relaxed hair just decides to be to slick to hold and becomes hard as hell if you put any product on it. it tangles around bobby pins too it's ridiculous. Funny thing is, I haven't even changed products from when I was relaxed so I guess it just knows that it's going to cut off

    I WISH I KNEW, THAT I CANNOT GO TO BED WITHOUT TWISTING MY HAIR, OR IT WILL MAT UP TO MY HEAD.
    I wish I knew that everytime I sit in the car, my hair would be stuck to the back of My head.
    I wish I knew that I had to moisturize my hair before I go to bed, and after I wake up, everyday
    I wish I knew that I could use my hair as hand lotion everytime when my hands got dry.
    I wish I knew that my hair has 4 different curl patterns, and the hair pattern on the right side of my head is a Diva.
    I wish I knew that different parts of my hair needs a different routine, and that some products that works on one side of my head, might not work on the other side of my head.
    I wish I knew that my hair doesn't need rubberbands to stay in a braid, all I have to do is braid and the braid would stay for days.
    I wish I knew that my natural hair, hates the sun.
    I wish I knew that my hair hates the cold.
    I wish I knew... that just because my permed hair was able to get a nice sun bleach doing the summertime, doesn't mean it is going to get a sun bleach when it is natural.
    I wish I knew that other races would get jealous that my hair was so different from theirs.
    I wish I knew that I would love my natural hair, more than I love my permed hair.

    I did my big chop today, i am so happy that the damaged straight hair is gone! It felt like a carried a heavy bag on my back and after cutting my hair it felt like i took that bag off. If you wanna do your big chop but you're scared of cutting your hair think that its just hair and it will grow back

    My daughter been natural for 2 years now and I'm her hair stylist. I use coconut oil for Pre-poo before shampoo and her hair loves it. It helps to soften her new growth and her hair lenght so it's less dry and more manageable. This is one of the best god given blessing we have. Coconut oil is a miracle worker! I also use it after before braiding her hair up. When she started she had ear length hair now it's past her shoulder. I used it as well Pre-poo and I'm relaxed. Best thing I ever did to my hair. It saved my weak over processed hair. I know you ladies know about this but it helps with detangling also. It leaves her and my hair soft and holds moisture very well! Hopes this help someone out there! Kisses, keep up the good work! Look forward to your next video. ................

      You have to experiment with products to know what your hair likes. That means money. Also when you run out of a product, you buy a new one. Moisture is a big thing, the butters, oils, sealants, etc. Also if you have a hair goal, its worst, you got to put in extra work.

  • @marshaecaldwell4637
    @marshaecaldwell4637 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wish I knew a couple things. For one, it is EXTREMELY helpful to hold your natural texture taught when washing, even when you already wash it in small sections. it dramatically decreases the amount of tangling and matting you get.
    i also wish i knew to NOT be shy with conditioner. it's so easy to finger detangle sopping wet hair with a ton of good slip conditioner in it. it's even easier if you can allow the shower to run over your head as you finger detangle, but for water conservation reasons that's not always possible.

    I wish I knew that when I went natural, my hair wouldn't necessarily be all 1 hair type and that different types require didn't methods of moisturising. I wish I knew that my frizzy straight hair at the front that refuses to shrink or curl or coil in anyway but just remains frizzy and straight (basically always looks blow dried) is NORMAL for me. I wouldn't have wasted YEARS cutting off my hair at the front thinking it was heat damaged (even though I don't use heat).
    And that thanks to genetics my one head carries curls coils kinks and straight bits and that's OK.

    • @ShaniqueBuntyn
      @ShaniqueBuntyn  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Steph Powell I know a few ppl with the same straight frizzy hair at the front and the rest of their head is coily.

      I have that straight frizzy hair in the front too when it grew I would cut it thinking it was damage. I didn't use heat either until I just realized my hair do that straightish in the front, curly in the middle and sides while coily in the back.

    • @manuellebourbon3019
      @manuellebourbon3019 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Steph Powell I can totally related I wish I knew my hair would not have the perfect spring curl and it would be a challenge to find products and styles that work for it without looking dry and wavy/straight without heat damage. I've cut my hair several times expecting that proper curly hair to come out but it didn't so now I just roll with it. When it's wet it looks frizzy and curly and it's dry it's just a puff of frizzy hair. xo

    I recently learnt about that 5th tip, i air dried my air and couldn't comb out my new growth after so i had to go back in the shower, condition my hair , get out and blow dry on low heat because i was in a rush. A tip is not to do length checks monthly because it really makes you over think the process and also if you know you're wearing your hair in a ponytail or bun it helps to moisten and gel hair along with tying it down from the night before

I switched to my wide tooth combination and it was better. wash day oh my Gosh , I even get terrified on wash day and colleagues don't believe me when I say it took me at least 4 hrs to wash and deep condition. thanks for sharing all your tips girl , it has been helpful. 9months post and I think I might make it.

    Well, I wish I knew how fun and relatively in-expensive having natural hair is. Have had natural hair for two years now and I can say this is the fun part I'm loving. I don't have wash days anymore thankfully, 3-4 hours and I'm done with my hair for the day entirely... styling and everything. Man two years and the amount of product making and mixing expertise I have under my belt, lol anyone hiring :). So, at first the journey was hard, well challenging, I wanted to gave up cut and keep my hair low, but I persevered and I'm extremely happy about that. I wish I didn't buy as much blue magic as I did because I wanted the container lol. That's my only pet pee and biggest regret. I wish I knew everything would have worked out and be ok so I knew not to worry as much as I did. Two years, two sizer happy chops, how many clippings and shoulder length l wish I wasn't obsessed with short hair, and have the urge to always cut. That's my biggest battle not cutting my hair short, just because after two years I learn my hair grows and grows very fast.
    NEWBIES DON'T GO SEMI/COMMANDO PRODUCT JUNKY, YOUR HAIR WILL GROW IT WILL CHANGE AND PRODUCTS THAT WORK ON NEWLY ALL NATURAL HAIR WONT WORK 3 MONTHS DOWN THE LINE, FROM MY EXPERIENCE I KEEP STORE BOUGHT PRODUCTS AT A MINIMAL, THEY WORK THIS MINUTE AND NEXT MINUTE THEY DON'T. BE PATIENT ENJOY UR NATURAL HAIR, REMEMBER IT'S A JOURNEY SO LOVE IT WHOLEHEARTEDLY, YOU WILL GET FRUSTRATED WHEN TRIAL COME UR WAY, WE ALL DID. LOOKING BACK IT WILL BE WORTH IT, YOU WILL BE HAPPY AND IN-LOVE WITH BEING NATURAL. IF YOU CAN CONCUR NATURAL HAIR YOU CAN CONCUR ANYTHING :) JUST ENJOY THE PROCESS.
    SO, ON THAT NOTE HERE ARE TWO VALUABLE ADVICE. FIRSTLY, YOUR MISTAKES ARE ONLY GUIDELINES AND INDICATIONS OF PATHWAYS AND THINGS THAT AREN'T MEANT FOR YOU. ACCEPT THEM AND USE THEM TO PERSEVERE, IT'S JUST YOUR HAIRS' NATURAL WAY OF SAYING LOOK THIS ISN'T WORKING, I DON'T LIKE THIS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ELSE. IT'S THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL BE STARED IN A DIRECTION TRULY MEANT FOR YOU. SECONDLY, THINGS THAT GO RIGHT IS JUST YOU HAIR WAY OF SAYING I LIKE THIS, KEEP DOING THIS. I can't tell you what that is like it's an indescribable feeling you can only know for yourself and experience it for yourself. Good luck :* :) .

    • @zahriarhyne5967
      @zahriarhyne5967 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +gese74 sounds like you hair has some protein-moisture imbalance. I get the whole rejecting thing... products I used in the first six months to a year I can't use anymore. Well, I have high porosity hair. The first summer I did an intense protein-moisture treatment. So now I use mostly organic product, I don't experience much other problem. Probably you have sensitive hair.

    • @zahriarhyne5967
      @zahriarhyne5967 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gese74 well, I will approximate that you are either protein-sensitive because you have low porosity hair or visa versa. low porosity is synonymous with protein sensitive hair. what low porosity means is that your hair follicles are open more than that of the average person and you don't retain moisture because those said follicles don't close parallel to the hair stand which the protein is stored. However low porosity hair can revert to normal porosity hair, one factor which affect hair porosity is moisture retention..... how effective does you hair retain moisture and how long does it retain it. Given you have low porosity hair I will approximate your hair is most often dry and brittle due to that you experience a lot of breakage because you hair doesn't retain moisture. another factor that affect hair porosity is heat.... how much and how frequently do you use heat. Since you have low porosity hair and you hair follicles don't close onto the hair strand it is highly advised that you stay away from heat as much as possible and completely if possible. The last factor I can remember is how do you wash your hair and what products do you use. For this you shouldn't practise washing your hair with Luke warm nor hot water.... it will be best and most advised to wash your hair with cold water or rise with cold water as this will help close your hair follicles. If you practise washing your hair with a cleansing shampoo or conditioner it will strip your hair from whatever sebum oil that's there, but not only that it will aid in reducing the overall follicles that covers your hair strand which can be detected from not just split ends but splits along the strand of your hair. So, my best advise use shampoo/conditioners that moisturizes the hair or has moisture intensity which most likely contain butters. I've been physically natural two yrs I had locks for two yrs prior to being completely natural one of this year I spent knowing all there is to know about natural hair, which I'm still learning. You can watch green beauty channel she is very informative and knowledgeable. I will in addition advise you try doing henna treatments, it's the only protein treatment that works for me, it may not work for you but it's worth the try.... if you use it mix it with two parts oil one part water, that way the oil will seal the water in once the henna coats the hair strands. Use it for alternate weeks for a 2-3 months. IDK if my hair was like yours but my hair was horrible when I cut my locks off it was always dry and breaking and never retained moisture. I have high porosity hair so use heat to open my follicles because they are always tightly shut. I wash with warm water and rinse with cold water IDK doing these things changed the overall health of my hair. Now it is silky smooth and retain moisture for three whole days more if I don't touch it. I don't comb it as of recently I just wash it and whatever style I do when I moisture use it I let it stay that way for a week Max. Probably this will work, but if it doesn't don't give up search for other person's on you tube with similar condition, eventually will find a regimen that is ideal for you that works wonders.

    • @zahriarhyne5967
      @zahriarhyne5967 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gese74 I have 2 different hair texture. which in noticing is for most ppl. in the back my hair has natural curls but once I get to the front my hair is also thick but completely loose. there isn't much curl in the front. I don't co-wash bc for me I need to scrub out product in my hair and cowashing just puts more in my hair and make it worse for me. I feel like the gel and oil just mix up all together even more when I did use to Co wash

    Some things I wish I knew before transitioning would definitely be to:
    1) Keep my hair as moisturized as possible... I would go weeks without moisturizing my hair and my roots and ends would become horribly dry.
    2) Stick with one type of routine... I switched up my wash day and moisturizing routine about 3 times since my "Big Chop" in February. I am currently sticking with one shampoo and conditioner, for natural hair, until they run out.
    3) Let my natural hair rest sometimes... I've been putting protective styles in my hair for over a year, and I wear my natural hair out for a couple of hours to a day, before getting another style.
    4) Detangle my hair using my fingers and not a comb or brush... That caused a tremendous amount of breakage.
    5) Rarely use a towel to dry my type 4c hair.. This actually caused my hair to mat ALOT.
    6) Stick to known and highly recommended products... I used this "moisturizing" lotion for hair and it caused my edges to dry, break off, and scab (Horrible experience! This is actually the reason why I decided to go natural.)

    Natural hair is not expensive when you stop being a product junkie. And you'll stop being a product junkie when you realize you only need a handful of products, none of which should cost over over $10. All I use is water, for washing and coconut oil and Shea butter. If you're still buying products to make your hair grow you're wasting money. Leave your hair alone and it will grow. After being a product junkie myself, I eventually realized all I needed was water, coconut oil and Shea butter. Stop with the expensive products. Save your money. Buy some Shea butter and Parachute coconut oil. That's all.

    Thank God I figured out what my hair does/n't like early in my journey dispite TH-cam. but regardless what I learned really fast was:
    -that no matter how much i force my hair to like raw shea butter, olive oil, or coconut oil it will not like it.
    -GRAPESEED and ARGON oil is my hair's favorite oils
    -My hair loooves to be cornrowed (sow ins and wigs are the BEST protective styles for me)
    -Combo of baking soda, conditioner and heat is the best way for my hair to stay moisturized
    1 year and 3-5 months and APL (4a but mostly 4b/c hair) =)

  • @LoreBaaby14

    I've been transitioning for 18 months. I don't have kinky hair at all, but its more wavy loose curls. However, I wish I had known how expensive and time consuming transitioning is. The products are very expensive and you go through them so much its almost like its an investment each month. I also wish I had known how much science it is to figure out your porosity and figure out which products work best for your hair. I've finally gotten a good regimen down but it took almost a year to find products that worked for my hair. Its definitely been an adjustment transitioning in a professional career. I cant wear my hair in certain styles which limits my options of what I can and cant style my hair in. This is still a struggle but once I finally chop off my relaxed ends, I think it will get a little easier. Thanks for all the great advice with transitioning!! Your channel has helped me so much with this process!!

    I'm 11m post, and before I began my transition I wish I'd known that my hair would be thick. Super thick. I've been hearing about this "thin, bad hair" my entire life, and it's growing out thick, dark & soooo soft. I NEVER thought my natural hair could be soft since my relaxed hair never really felt that way. I'm looking forward to my big chop in about another year or so. Year 2 will be the year of protective styling.

    I cut most of my hair on one of the coldest day of last year in Windsor- December 28. 4 inches in the crown when stretched and a fade on the sides and back. I HAVE TO WEAR A SILK CAP EVERY NIGHT AND AROUND THE HOUSE. My hair is a 4c from what I'm learning on TH-cam. I have to check my porosity. I'm starting with primarily Cantu products and today I made a flaxseed hair gel. WHAT I WISH I KNEW is how many options their were to maintain my hair naturally. Last time I was natural I was 9 years old. All I remember was shampoo and hair oil. I am glad for people like you I've learned water is my friend. Look for products that have water as one of the first 3 or 4 ingredients. I APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS ON WEARING PROTECTIVE STYLES. But I don't want to do this. I don't use towels, or heat. So HERE IS HOPING my hair will be healthy. TOO MANY OF MY FRIENDS are getting cancer and they say it is environment. Loads of hair products have so many chemicals. That and I love touching my own hair ans scalp is why I decide to go back to my natural hair. I appreciate this video. You are clear, concise and informative. My hair is short so my wash day is short. I take approximately 40 minutes and that is because I deep condition and I have to wait for it to work on my hair. Your hair looks lovely and healthy and it is inspiring but I will keep mine short if I have to devote most of a day to maintain a long length. MOST IMPORTANT THANKS FOR THE TIP ABOUT NOT LETTING MY HAIR DRY WITHOUT TWISTING OR BRAIDING IT. It is short right now so I did that several times but your comment has made me plan on at least twisting it before I let it dry naturally. I'll watch more. So far the FINANCIAL cost for keeping my hair natural is 1/13 of the cost to put it in other styles. THIS IS AN ADDED BONUS. I love the fact that I'm going mostly chemical free. I'm seeing some chemicals in Cantu products but so far I especially like Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner. I WISH THEY DIDN'T LEAVE A WHITE RESIDUE. I wondered if that happen because after I wash with the apple cider vinegar rinse or the co-wash - I put in a little coconut butter. I KNOW THIS IS LONG BUT AS I SAID I'M NEW TO GOING BACK TO MY OLD HAIR TYPE so I'm curious. TWO FINAL THINGS I NOW DO FAITHFULLY IS MESSAGE MY HAIR BECAUSE I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE TOUCHING MY OWN HAIR AND MY SCALP WITH OUT OTHER HAIR, OR HAIR SUBSTITUTES AND I will reduce my use if not stop my use completely of the DENMAN brush what you said makes good sense. THANKS AGAIN.

    When i started transitioning i didn't have any idea of what i was doing (i'm still learning) it took me a year after heat damage and traying every product from high to low brand to understand what i was dealing with and a i also did learn more because of girls like you that show us the do's and don'ts of curly hair. While transitioning from my relaxer hair i was trying to change my curle pattern to be straight by flat iron it 🙊 i know i know the thing was that i was never used to curly hair because my mom relaxed my hair when i was like eleven and seen curls on my heat was scary but been myself. After big chopping twice and taking good care of my hair know i'm seen the results. Thank's for sharing the things that you know with us ❤

    I know a lot of beauticians and actually saw it in a Cosmetology book. Wash your hair in warm to very warm water to open the shaft then rinse the conditioner out with cool to cold water to close the shaft. Just like you skin warm to hot water opens your pores and cool closes your pores. So wash your face with warm to very warm water and close your pores with cool to cold. I like to wash my face then wet a towel in cold water and lay on my face and add a little pressure to get the full coolness and close my pores

    I agree 100% that letting kinky hair dry loose is a BAD idea, I too learned that the hard way, its like you never detangled at all. I now dry it in twists and I can work with it coz its stretched and detangled. You have gorgeous hair, mine is kinda similar and I can't wait for it to get longer.

    Yesss tell em! Wash day was Definitely WASH DAY for me.... and since my hair usually takes forever to dry, it still will be a while if I'm air drying. I usually air dry my set twists for twist outs, so it still would be a good 16 hours to "out the door" ready hair. (Thank God for days off lol) I still struggle with this (I'm almost at 3 years)- even with color, once I put product on, my hair takes a long time to dry. Great tip on the brush use too! especially with all these wash & go videos with the Denman, really make sure you're not snatching too many hairs out:)

    thanks for your tips. I just cut most of my permed hair off today. I did not set a goal for how long I would transition. I just wore protective styles for 6 months. Been transitioning since May 2015. It takes me forever to do my hair - so thanks so much for that tip. 3-4 hours - with just a pulled up style - I add a curly ponytail on the top. I left the permed hair on the very top so that I could pull it up in the pony. I just need a really good moisturizer. but thanks again!

    I am relaxed but not really transitioning. I am a busy university student and just haven't gone to the hairdresser yet lol. last relaxer Nov 2016
    But I sometimes think about going natural when I see the new growth. have a lot. And my length when relaxed was just like yours.
    My 'wash days' have been easy for me as I spend less than hr in shower and I don't put twists in my hair or anything after. I simply comb my hair for class the next day one time which is usually put my hair in a low loose pony, slick it with Eco styler, tie it, sleep, and that's it. When im ready to leave home i tighten the hair band at that point. I have noticed the little hairs about an inch in length around hair line. I assume it's just my hair growing and the relaxed part broke off. Idk. But I haven't seen breakage anywhere else in my hair.
    I haven't had a problem with knotting or tangling when I take my hair out for the next wash day. (I also don't comb my hair during the week ) -.- lol Believe it or not. That is a process to moisturize and detangle. Don't have that time. I simply moisturize by using a bottle with a nozzle and squeeze it through my hair and rub my head with fingers like a head massage while my hair is still in a loose pony or a single braid. But closer to exams in May I will try braids maybe.

I'm with Jenna, I do the same products she does. I don't spend a lot because of watching so many videos of ladies saying do not become a product junkie lol.

    I wish I knew these things while I was transitioning! I only transitioned for 4-5 months and got so frustrated with my hair that I did my big chop early. I'm happy with my TWA, but I wish I had this knowledge

    I’m in the process of transitioning for the 2nd time and I’m going to actually go through with it lol. I learned that all I need is a good shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, and oil. Protective hairstyles are key. I also try not to apply too much heat and just use a blow dryer on the coolest setting to stretch my hair.

    I do twist my hair in sections after co-washing. I only use shampoo when I use gel. That's rare. I also only use water, oil and conditioner. No expensive products. I do use the green house method. Love my hair now. I do prefer to always wear it in a protective style

    For me I have notice the biggest is time (transitioning since February 2015). I have a made it a 2 day process now. Prepoo and wash one day, deep condition over night. Rinse and apply leave in/style the next day. I use to dedicate my Saturdays to my hair. Literally it was taking me the whole day. Working 5 days in the week, it was feeling like I had one day off.lol Since I have gone to the 2 day process works much easier. I feel like have my weekend back.

    i wish i knew how hard transitioning is. I'm currently 7 months post relaxer and I'm struggling. i watch alot of youtube videos and thought I would just do protective styles and it would be smooth sailing, but boy i surely got a wake up call.

    I wish i knew the impact pre pooing has on our type 4 hair before shampooing or for me even using a cleansing conditioner. It makes a huge diff, i heard about it but i always thought it was an unnecessary step but now that's a step i cant afford to skip. Thank u for this vid JTWL☺️

    I wish I knew how much WORK and TIME it can take to wash and style the longer and thicker your hair gets. It can be frustrating and tiresome for some ppl. I went back to relaxed hair, but I am reconsidering going back natural. But I need the knowledge and me time scheduled in to take care of this hair.

    I had to chop my permed hair off after 8 months due to the tangling and limited styles with the two different textures and I have to say it is liberating.
