Hi Shanique…. I won’t worry as much about those triggers because men in general are very similar to each other and how they think. But you are right about talking openly and honestly. I would recommend that in your dating you should NOT speak with your new partners about details of your past relationships. It’s okay to be vague while reassuring them that you have moved on.
"the dating pool has pee in it" 😂😂😂 I can't, I've never heard that before but I'll defo be saying that in future! Thank you for sharing. Your twists are gorgeous! ❤🙌🏿
Hey Shanique! If you wouldn't mind and if it isn't intrusive, please consider a video on how you navigated a breakup while also parenting/guiding your son through this new phase. Thank you for your transparency. ❤️
I'm also a newly single mom. my daughter's dad & I broke up abt 7mths ago. there's no way I'm ready for something new. i invested so much into that relationship that right now, I'm working on myself & my healing journey while being there for my daughter. it's definitely a process. with this journey, i too am learning abt gaslighting, lovebombing & narcissism & all those other red flags. now that i know, I'll be sure to be well aware if & when I'm ready to date again. definitely in no rush; i want to enjoy singlehood for awhile.
I commend you for waiting until you are in a better place so you can speak of your breakup so positively. I also commend both you and D for being so good to one another and especially Amari, so you could co parent so well. God is in full control. Thank you for sharing, Shanique. 🙏🏽💜👍🏾
When you have a level of success and confidence, make sure ANY man you choose has to complement your success. If not , most will resent your accomplishments. Being single is a place of loving yourself, nurturing yourself and enjoying singlehood. That is very attractive to most men. Wishing you the life you deserve and enjoy. 🎉🎉🎉
Personally, I wouldn't be able to jump back into a relationship soon after a breakup. I've went through 2 breakups in my life (both with the same person). The first was 6-months in (that led to a 7 yr gap) and the second time around, it was 2.5 years (and that resulted in a year and a half gap). After the first break up, I was not interested in finding anyone. I was in uni, then working, then going back to uni (this time in another country) so I was just trying to figure out myself and my life. The second breakup would have been longer (I went back to school again 🤣 -that seem to be my way of getting over things) but, my current bf, who was a friend at the time, suddenly peaked my interest. 🤷🏾♀️ We've been together almost 4 years now. 🤷🏾♀️
If you don’t like a person’s friend group it’s not your responsibility to change their friend group. You observe and respect but ultimately you have to choose to let people be who they reveal themselves as. I found that I don’t tell people anything with the intention to correct them so that they can be a better person to me. I just let people operate how they choose and then move forward according to what I choose to accept in my life. This has made my life so much easier.
NO DO NOT REBOUND ! It almost always ends in disaster . I have a close friend who did this and he regrets it bc the girl trapped him smh Take time to heal ; spend time with God , grieve what happened but don’t stay there. Get therapy and self reflect on who you are now especially now that the person is not there . Reflect on mistakes made and how you can improve and improve standards of what you may want in a future partner
I survived narcissistic abuse and physical abuse. It'll be 3 years in June and I'm still not ready to date again. I think people should take the time to be alone with themselves with their thoughts. I'm just grateful to still be alive. ❤️ love you Shanique
The question I asked was, is there any chance that the 2 of you might give it another chance? But at least you're doing fine, and you all are friends. That's always a plus. 👍🏾
Appreciated the honesty and transparency in this video. To answer your question: I don't believe getting a rebound is a wise move, then again because of societal norms doing so is normalized but it's unhealthy. As you said, one should definitely take a break, reevaluate the choices you made previously. Does and don'ts going forward, know your standards, understand what the problem was in your pass relationship and make it clear to yourself what you should not tolerate and what you're looking for going forward. Fully embrace that season, things truly happen for a reason. On the flip side, there are people who can get into healthy relationships after just getting out of one but there are a number of factors that would surround that. If anyones frame of mind is to get back at their partner, or let me show them I can do better, let me get a rebound… that is a red flag in itself. That person is unprepared and just being bitter. But it can me tempting to wanna just start with someone new because maybe you're just a sucker for love.
Yes never rush into another relationship take that time to heal yourself first that’s the most important thing some people are better off just being friends I’m glad that you are in a better place when your not looking he will show up you are a beautiful person and love your hair🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Sometimes you get traumatized (by the relationship & breakup) and need a good break from even thinking or feeling about relationships at all. It really helps to take the time to grieve, heal, and just adjust your focus back into yourself for a while (love on yourself etc), surround yourself with the ppl who are about you (your village), before moving forward with something new.
The dating pool definitely has pee in it. I agree. Extremely tainted. Taking your time with that works out so well when you realize your worth. I healed from my past pretty "fast" but I also mentally left the relationship like a year before I physically left. I'm glad you and D can be best friend after a breakup. This proves both of your maturity levels. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Yes, your hair is gorgeous! I've watched you videos for years, any suggestions on supplements my hair feels like it's thinning and would be appreciated ❤
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I would love to hear more about that date that you were speaking about in the video. Maybe you can make a story time about it and what you learned from the date. Also, what does “putting myself out there” mean? Do you mean going on dating apps/websites, meeting men naturally through friends/family? I would love to know how you’re even navigating dating in Toronto lol. Where are the quality men in this city?😂
Love how you touched on dating someone secure and not being afraid to ask them questions. I think it’s also important to note that if you’re going from someone insecure to someone secure, you might be used to all the hurdles and red flags, and dating a secure person might feel a bit different at first, almost boring, but don’t ever settle for anything less!
I've been a subscriber of urs for years. It all started with ur beautiful hair😊I can't lie tho I miss seeing his goofy self in the vlogs lol..But i'm so proud of you for bouncing back and ur resilience...Much love from Ohio❤❤❤
I love mini twists and it feels like I've been wearing nothing but them for a few years. I do like you and take them to refresh...I even shampoo mine maybe a week after I refreshed it. Also I work in sections.....I don't leave the house so for a few days I have ponytails.
@michelleyoga87 I've been wearing them back to back for a few years and love them. Like I said I only shampoo them after I've taken them all down and redone. For some strange reason I decided to wear my curls and it's been 3 days and I don't think I can do this. 🤣
Love your videos as always glad you and D are in good standards and hope to see you and Amari in your videos keep doing you and continue to love yourself focus on yourself and enjoy life
How do you feel about your son though? Bringing another man into his life? Isn’t it always about what’s for the child’s best interest too? Because the young man is still developing?
I feel like the break up as a mom hits different and you just overall make decision differently especially relationship wise. We as woman are always going to be judged on our steps and always have to consider another person possibly being in our kids lives that’s why it takes longer. I don’t believe there’s a right or wrong , but as for a man the decision is simpler.

This is great advice!
I second this advice!!!! And please remind yourself about it too… sometimes we forget when we start catching feelings for others
@@michelebistI totally understand this. But then again…. I think the person is not the right one for you when they will use ur past against u 😮

Girl I love how you still care for your hair with all that's been going on. My hair went to shambles after my break up. ❤you go girl 👏🏾
It’s been almost two years. So I’m back to me again but I wore a lot of wigs during the break up. I hardly washed or styled my hair.
