    So, pretty simple question today. Is it trash or is it treasure? Invicta feels the full force of the watch community it seems, but this little guy seems to be the exception to the rule. But does it deserve to be? Well, my recommendation is based on price, because there are better watches out there once the price pushes beyond $75USD. Cheers, Jody.

    A couple of weeks ago I was wearing it at an international show where a Submariner owner mistakenly expressed his appreciation of it to only be disappointed by me pointing at the brand of the watch along with the mention I would never pay ten grand for a stainless steel watch. That made my day. 😜😈😈😂😂😂

    I'm a watch guy, I have several vintage Hamiltons and Seikos in my collection. My father gifted me a very handsom Invicta Pro-diver in a gold finish and I wear it proudly very often. I'll admit I used to trash Invicta for their 48 and 50mm watches. However, my pro-diver is on par with my Seiko SKX. I respect the company for what it is, a gateway for future watch collectors and for people with tighter budgets who want a quality watch!

    • @AvroBellow

      I feel what you're saying but keep in mind that no everyone can wear a 40mm watch without it looking ridiculous. My wrist is 40mm tall and 60mm wide which means that the Pro Diver looks like a kiddie watch on my wrist. The 47mm Grand Diver fits perfectly so that's what I own. I wouldn't look at anything else from Invicta though. They're mostly horrible-looking watches which makes it funny how their divers are so well-specced and beautiful.

    • @TruthFLA
      @TruthFLA 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AvroBellow44 to 47 mm is my personal sweet spot. Anything above or below looks crazy to me.
      Lastly, i wish i learned the difference between a pro and grand diver before i started. Even when both are 47mm, the grand diver is double the weight.

      EXACTLY. These Invictas are great and there are no legitimate comparisons for the 23K Gold plated (and Blue) 8930BO. It's Handsome and the bracelet is GREAT, if not heavy, which I still see as a plus. Mine doesn't rattle like he coerced his sample into doing, but if it did, it'd still make no difference. Never once has it failed, never once has it popped open and I've owned three of them for MANY years. Frankly, the securing mechanism is tighter than the "hotsy-totsier" Phoibos I just received. Now I dig my Quartz PX002C quite a lot, but here's my problem with it: I'm still trying to figure out if the new, improved lume is Green or Blue. If the BGW9 Super-Luminova is actually Blue, I have to send it back and insist on the newest version. I'm concerned that I got hosed with the Octopi adorned albeit old lume version IF such a thing exists. (If not, just let me know, TIA.) I get mixed messages from Phoibos. But I can't implicitly trust every YT review either. If somebody can help me out with this, I'd appreciate it. I have ascertained that the PX002C has an Aluminum Bezel, which I'm fine with on this Invicta or the Phoibos. But if I cough up three Benjamins for a PY007, that puppy's lume had better be at LEAST as bright as this watch or brighter. Again, mine is Green. Phoibos says all their watches have Green Lume. But some of their illustrations are just...plain...blue. Thanks again, everyone.

    • @Ricktpt1
      @Ricktpt1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@TheAverageTargaryen They're both great bargains. I've owned a Submariner and the ratio of "get what you pay for" isn't totally absent but isn't the linear progression that the conspicuous consumption crowd wishes it was. By the time you get to that watch, there's no rational way to justify its ownership OTHER than conspicuous consumption. Which isn't against the law, but the reason I could (and still can) afford the Submariner is because I choose not to do so (again). One's enough. And so it goes. You didn't offer any helpful advice about the Phoibos, so I'm not sure you have the experience level with any of these watches that would appear to have a basis in ownership. I do with all of them. Have a great day...

    Its a great watch for the price point which is typically around $75. I picked mine, the blue two tone with the coin edge bezel, for under $50 and so it was definitely a bargain as even Seiko does not offer watches with their NH35 at this price point. I do not understand people's complaint about the bracelet, esp that it is only a pressed clasp and no solid end links; given the price I am surprised it even comes with the steel bracelet. Honestly, I've so far never had problems with either of these.
    I'v had mine for over 2 years now and its taken its fair share of nicks and scuffs, but it still runs great around 6-8 seconds per day and I am plenty happy with it. It is one of my top picks when I go on a vacation as I would not worry much if it were to get stolen or misplaced and it suits almost all occasions, be it formal or casual or at the beach. Probably the best value for money in my collection.

    Mine arrived today and there's a lot to like, a nice finish, way more wearable than the grand diver and a great movement. The only negative is that the cyclops is off-centre and sits low. In some respects this actually works better as the viewing angle is spot on when reading the face on my wrist.

Now I use it without being able to screw down the crown. It would be cheaper just to buy another than to repair it again.

      I had this watch for about 4 years as a beater and I really beat the hell out of it. For the price it is a great watch. The NH35 movement is the exact same movement found in the Seiko Presage that retails for $500. So getting that movement in a $70 watch with a steel bracelet is fantastic. And getting it in a dive watch tribute is even better. Okay, so I HATE the brand name plastered all over the watch, especially on side of the case. That makes it look trashy and cheap. But I never hated it enough to grind it off and re-polish. It’s a beater, I wear it while working on my car or using the weedeater or mowing the lawn. I wear it to tell time, not to attract women. If I’m going out then I’ll wear a Seiko King Turtle or Rolex Air King or ORIS Big Crown or something from Omega. The Invicta keeps those watches looking great because it takes all the abuse so they don’t have to. And for that purpose alone it’s worth every penny I paid for it.

    Imagine there is a table in front of you with 3 watches. The branding has been removed from them. The one on the left is a quartz watch and made with cheap brass, with a painted gold finish, the face has bad printing, the crystal is plastic, It claims water resistance 10M. but has no gasket for the crown. It feels light and cheap and the band looks like leather on the outside, but the inside looks like some kind of treated paper that is sandwiched and glued together. The watch in the middle is made of stainless steel with a mineral crystal, Rated to 200Meters, The movement is automatic and with your naked eyes you cannot see any imperfections, it feels solid and well made. The watch on the right is also stainless steel with a sapphire crystal and automatic movement. It is rated to 300M. It feels solid and well made, you can see the second hand moves a bit smoother, and the band feels more robust, It also appears to be very well made. Somebody asks you to place the watch in the middle of the table where it falls in the quality category between the watch on the left and right. You will probably place it nearby the watch on the right. The watch on the left is a $10. Timex. The watch in the middle is a $80 Invicta, the watch on the right is a $12000. Rolex. Based on dollars alone, the Invicta should be at the far left of the table, nearly on top of the Timex. My point is, Invicta is a great value and should not be sneered at simply because of the price point. Rolex is a far beyond the point of diminishing returns. The quality of a Rolex can be achieved at around $1000. The reason to buy a Rolex is simply to flex your wealth. Another consideration, If you decide to sell your Invicta, you can probably sell it for 75% of its retail value.. reselling the Loreo, Starking, Pagani watches with nearly no brand recognition, consider yourself lucky if you can even find a buyer. If I was displaying those in a collection I would be embarrassed as they are Chinese company's. At least Invicta is a Swiss/American company.

    I've had my pro diver for a few months now and i can say its a great time piece at the core. I picked it up new for 75 which was at the boundary for this piece. The NH35 movement accuracy varies but in mine I estimate it at about +/- 7 seconds per day. The bezel action and crown is very satisfying to use actually. I must add mine has poor lume though. It reacts very quickly and glows bright but fades away in minutes, however I tend to wake up sometimes around 4-5 am and in complete darkness and un adjusted eyes, I was able to see a bit of glow. Case build is great and the crystal is decent. it is true sometimes it looks foggy and i find myself wiping it a lot but in the right lighting, the deep black dial looks beautiful with the aluminum black bezel insert. BUT, the bracelet and its gear (spring-bars in the case and clasp, hollow end-links, stamped clasp) is terrible, jingly, and not reliable. the retention is nice but will go out eventually. i tried to deal with it replacing the spring bars and reshaping the hollow end-links to fit tighter and it was still unsatisfying making the watch feel cheap. I also don't think its a solid bracelet. However, i found a solid stainless steel oyster style bracelet with screw links, milled clasp, divers extension for $40. i had to sand down the solid end-links to get it to fit and its not perfect, but superior to the old bracelet. it now has a nice balanced weight, better fit, and the 20mm - 16mm taper is noticeably more comfortable. In the end it is a great piece and i take pride in putting my own work into it, but i ended up paying around $120 in total. I would've went for the Pagani design sub or the Loreo Sub, but this was at the time when covid-19 just came out in china and these watches come from china. but i think now it is safe to say you should get either of those if you're looking for value for money. EDIT: About a week after being set, it has gained +/- 45 seconds.

It still wears and works well. However, I have replaced the wrist strap twice. Leather straps always wears nicely with a genuine classy look.
    After wearing Omega Seamaster Pro 300 and other dive watches for years. This sub is definitely In a class of its own.
    Thank you for all of you in depth reviews and keeping true to your heteriage.
    Keep stuck in

    If you want a classic size version (36mm) look up Invicta Pro Diver Women. The Women version have a date window as well but no Cyclops imo it look better like that.

    Jody, you should check out the Pro Diver 7041. Not sure what it's an homage of, but it has the NH36 and much better lume (at least mine does!)

    I did purchase this exact watch. I've been in the ocean and fresh water with it. It's a sharp watch. Completely waterproof...and I love it! I get compliments on it regularly. That being said... comparing this watch in quality against a Sub is ludacris. They do look almost identical at several ft. away. That being said ...a Sub is the pinnacle of watch quality...this is a $90 watch. There is zero comparison in quality. However, for those who can't or won't spend an average of $9000 on a watch but like the look and want a fully functional and reliable piece... the Pro Diver is for you. I've been 30ft+ under water with it many times. Zero issues.
