Nancy is the sister playing the guitar. She plays so good and was an inspiration to many young female guitar players in the 70's & 80's, me being one of them. I was and still am a huge Heart fanatic. Magic Man is another really good song to check out.
@timmoser3526 because in that era it was rare to see a female guitarist in a rock band. Some young girls at the time found inspiration in it, that women could be super talented rock stars as well. Simple answer really.

Ann's voice was and is GOLDEN. Powerful, smooth, clear...perfection. Nancy was a powerhouse musician in her own right. What a duo. Thank for the reaction BP!
Dog and Butterfly kills me. Though I know the song is not about a dog and a butterfly, I had a white female basset hound that loved everything and everybody. Sweetest dog I probably have ever had and always happy. She would follow butterflies and wag her tail. She passed on about a year ago and it broke me for several months. Now when ever I hear that song I tear up. I have never had that happen before and I have had many dogs and cats in my day. This one just etched herself in my heart deeper then the others.
I'm a 55 year old black Bahamian woman. I was totally into Heart with their 80s hits: "Never" and "What About Love". But I was introduced to them at around age 5 by my older sister in the 70s. Love their 70s song, "Magic Man" (the long version). Love them in the Bahamas still. Pray for Ann who has recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Heart done a tribute to Led Zeppelin with their song “stairway to heaven” They got a standing ovation from all of the led zeppelin band members still alive. Absolutely epic

She sang Led Zeppelin tunes effortlessly. Not many people can sing Robert Plant, but damn she can. Watch them at the Kennedy Center Honors doing Stairway to Heaven.
Ann (dark hair) and Nancy (blonde hair) both sing songs, write music and play different instruments. Ann is the primary singer and plays flute & guitar. Nancy sings lead on several songs, but mostly secondary vocals, guitars, mandolin, piano and autoharp.

Heart is from Seattle, and we have been raised with them here. Lucky us. I never see reactors react to a great song of theirs, Dog and Butterfly. It would be nice to see a reaction to that song. Your reaction was fantastic. This band is legendary and deserves any props they get. Ann Wilson is the best female rock vocalist of all time.
I love it when Luke Skywalker comes in with the electric guitar. One of my favorite bands growing up. I love Dog and Butterfly. Her voice is just incredible.
Killer song! The Wilson sisters kick A$$. They can rock with any male rock group. Nancy can hold her own on guitar and Ann's vocals are just incredible. So many good songs to listen react to. One of those bands that sounds as great live as they do on albums.
This performance was on "Midnight Special". It was a TV Show that showcased different bands back in the early 1970s and all performances were just like this, live, unfiltered, and raw. Really cool to look back and remember how music was then.
I saw Heart on the Dreamboat Annie Tour. It was fantastic. Love the sound of that Ovation guitar on the intro. Anne's voice has gotten better and better over the years. In concert back then they always did a few Led Zeppelin songs in addition to their own stuff.
When the sisters watched the Beatles on tv they were about 10-13 years old. Most of the girls watching wanted to date or marry the Beatles. The Wilson sisters decided that night they wanted to be the Beatles. Tremendous catalog from the 70's. Although they have a few performances out there from more recent vintage. Unbelievable show from 2002 in Seattle with many of the songs performed acoustically by the two sisters. I think that version of "Alone" is the best I've heard them perform that song. And as others have mentioned, the 2009 performance of Stairway to Heaven (where they're anything but alone) shows Ann could still sing at age 59.
Back then, we expected the artists to sound very similar to their studio versions when in concert. Since most were great musicians and artists to start with working with raw instruments and voice in the studio, many pulled it off.
Anne and Nancy were inspired to become rock musicians by "Lead Zeppelin". When Lead Zeppelin became a National Treasure at the Kennedy Center, Heart performed "Stairway to Heaven" for them as a tribute to them. I strongly recommend you react to that live performance.
Heart got their big break in 1975 backing up Rod Stewart in Montreal. I was at that show..as a teenager, there was nobody like Heart. They were a rock inspiration for teenage girls like me. Through the years I've seen them 2 other times. They still have it!
Heart, One of my all-time favorite groups! Ann's voice is so powerful and incredible. Thank you so much for reviewing them. (Also, I think you are one of my favorite reactors.)
So many great songs by them in the 70s and 80s. Nancy's guitar work is so underrated, I still can't get over that, and living in the Seattle area I've talked to quite a few people who had them just like drop in on their performances. Lower level bands just doing the club circuit and that kind of thing, and they said they were always kind and professional and just really generous with their time. And the fact that they stood up in a wild west of male performers and held their own and got everybody's respect is a big deal. Like you said, they were an inspiration for a lot of females; that you didn't just have to be the object of songs or the object of fantasies. That you could also get out there and be the artist yourself, and make your voice heard when you're talking about things that are different than what the guys would talk about in that situation. The industry really did Ann dirty in the 80s. She had gained some weight after ending her relationship that was the inspiration for quite a few of the songs from the 70s, and they kept filming only her face like she was some kind of ogre they couldn't show... and then they really kind of did Nancy dirty too by making her play a caricature in those 80s music videos. She had to basically act like the guys did, dry humping around while playing. It was really dumb, because obviously when she plays without anybody telling her to do that stuff, she plays like a focused and professional person and not like somebody who's trying to f*** their guitar, and it's just really frustrating how they sexualized them in such a really gross way in the 80s. This song, if you pay attention to the lyrics, is an anti-war song, and it's really profound actually. Where there are those moments where the world is going insane and everything is awful and you don't understand why people can't just get their s*** together, and all you really have left to do when you're wondering if a bomb will drop tomorrow is go crazy on each other if you have somebody to do that with, and try not to think about it and just celebrate the fact that at this particular moment, you actually are alive. Intense stuff.
It was 1973 or so me and friends were at an outdoor concert . it rained about 11pm and most people left before Heart the last to play came on. My row spot was in front of Ann and it was “Schwing,” “party on. Before Heart ELO lit the sky with lasers not far above our heads coming from all over. It was trippy. Love the channel too.
These two sisters are insanely good! Great choice and reaction! I hope you will do more Linda Ronstadt. Her catalogue is huge, diverse and amazing. 🌸✌️
I saw them in Jr. High stationed at Barksdale AFB Bossier City around 1977 and was blown away, was 3rd row from the stage. My jaw was dropped the whole damn concert, I rocked out !! 🔥
Nancy is one the the best ever rhythm guitarist!!! I've heard stories from the grunge players from Seattle sitting and jamming with her until their hands were shredded and she is still ripping along. Great player!!!!
Heart was a favorite of mine since they hit the radio. Here's a little something that will blow your mind. Their dad was the Commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the joint chiefs of staff early in my USMC career and I am pretty sure her was still there at the time of this recording. I remember seeing Nancy playing this song and the back of her guitar was a giant USMC round metallic seal. If you ever see her later in life I am sure she still keeps one on the back of her acoustic guitar. They have earned it - Semper Fi Nancy and Ann!
Would love to hear you do Dog and Butterfly. Another rabbit hole would be to pick an episode of Midnight Special to showcase. It would be a long reaction but worth it. I just watched the one where Richard Pryor hosted. That's a good one. It had Olivia Newton John and Boz Scaggs just to name two artists
Thanks BP for the reaction. I love Heart! So much talent and so many hits. Listen to " Dog And The Butterfly " to hear a beautiful song and Ann's beautiful voice. The song was inspired by a scene they witnessed from their tour bus of a dog chasing a Butterfly through a meadow. When you hear the song you can visualize the scene
One of my favorites still to this day. I got to see them perform once, but Nancy was on maternity leave. It was still amazing. I understand that Ann was an introverted person... and then discovered her powerful pipes. They were nicknamed "Little Zeppelin", if I remember correctly. Their tribute to Zeppelin doing Stairway to Heaven was awesome. Definitely check out more Heart. An older, softer tune I'd recommend is "Dog and the Butterfly," but there's also Magic Man, etc. 😊

Yes!!!. there's a live performance just like this video from either '76 or '78... ann goes hard with the vocals, it really showcases he voice
And "Barracuda" (if he hasn't already done it}
Saw them back in 1978 at the Yale Bowl. they were the second opening act for the Eagles. They were incredible .
The Wilson sisters. Great voices and great music from such a talented band. I had seen then 3 times and so glad I did
Stunning vocals of these ladies. NEED need to listen to Barracuda. also Ann sang "Stairway To Heaven" At the"Kennedy Center Honors"
I saw Heart 4 times from the late 70s to the mid 80s. They were always that good.
Heart is my absolute fav female rockers!!!
The Midnight special with Wolfman Jack was what to watch. Great your reacting to Heart ❤️ they are sisters.
Saw them in concert many times. Mesmerized every time
Thanks BP for the reaction.
I love Ann ‘s vocals in this one. She has such an amazing voice and I love this song.
Ann Wilson is a BEAST! She still sounds great!
Love this song. Those tiny microphones and 70’s outfits. Awesome!
hey, a born Seattlite . as a girl in 1970's and 1980's, it was a pride thing knowing Heart was from Seattle--the radio deejays reminded us of this. they were considered a rock band.
I can listen to Heart all day! Ann & Nancy are legends and definitely inspired me to play music. Magic Man should be next, but to hear their amazing harmonies, you have to react to Straight On and Dog & Butterfly
Already do... always show appreciation for the artists!
Anne and Nancy Wilson. Nancy is a crazy good guitar player!!!!
