Fantastic vid. Brings me back to my last visit to the same area last winter. Never had any success trying to get across at that ford, so always had to detour northwards like you guys to use the bridge. Fantastic conditions by the looks of it!

Always like to see my last Munro, opposite the Devils Point my first. Thanks for providing great vids, especially in winter and then camping out. I feel chilled just watching. Do you regularaly check the weather incase of a change while out on your trip, so that you have time to abort?
Thank you very much! Yeah we check the weather on a regular base - this is also the reason why we camped like 80 altitude meters below the true summit as we weren’t sure if the forecast was right regarding fog/wind and we decided a sheltered spot is better just in case. We would have also had enough time to get back down to the river in daylight (but not to the car), if anything unexpected would have happened with the weather.
We brought both with us on this trip but we didn’t use it - but everyone walks differently. It is difficult to say how the weather/conditions will be in February. If I were you I would check the webcams in the cairngorms + you can see on the drive in the ‘snow cover’ of the hills. It is better being safe than sorry, the steep bit up at the beginning can definitely require some crampons/ice axe if icy. I know that this is probably not the answer you were looking for but it is really depending on the conditions.
Hi Stripey Loving the videos. I was up in the same place in November on a high camp. Which tent do you like best eithervthe Scarp or Duomid, for Scottish winter. I currently have a Terra Nova Voyager and the Original Drop xmid 1p which i use pretty much year round, i just remove the inner in wintercand use as a single skin tarp. But looking gor more room , love the Voyager but heavy for multiday trips.
Thanks a lot! I personally prefer the duomid as it has a much better pack-size and I can put it last into my backpack. It is also more versatile to pitch than the scarp as it is most of the time ‘floor less’ in usage in my case. But I use a tent as a shelter, not for being warm. For being warm I have an isomatress and a sleeping bag/quilt. Hope it helps - is a huge topic 😂😂😂

@@alfiethedog931 the green? one which I used was from AliExpress 3FL but I can’t recommend it - mine wasn’t waterproof anymore after 6 month. I tried to waterproof it again with FabSil which didn’t work out so at the moment I am using tyvek which is water resistant 😅
