    Great video but I’d love to see one for small bedrooms. All of the examples here are huge, obviously in large expensive homes, far removed from city apartment living, especially outside the US and Canada. I have a double bed pushed right against the wall and it gives me less than two feet on the one side and at the foot of the bed. That’s it. No dresser, no end tables, no chairs - just not possible.

      @einatblackrose 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Well, you can always hang a shelf, maybe add some wall art or a mirror with a nice frame (though I'm not a fan of mirrors in the bedroom...), and also you can always make your bed nicely to make it pretty and look luxurious, and lastly - good luxurious scents are always a great way to elevate the feel in your room.
      Enjoy :)

    We not only have a tea station in our bedroom, we have a whiskey/wine lounge in a room connected to our bedroom. The house was built in the 90s and I’m positive it was designed to be a nursery. We bought a gorgeous Pottery Barn wood and leather bar, four club chairs, a vintage rug….etc…and painted the walls a deep, moody gray. We love, love, love it and feel so blessed. I wish I could show you. ♥️ We’re “older” and we’ve kind of “earned” this luxury. We raised 5 kids…all grown…so it was definitely time to indulge in ourselves. Loved this video because I am alll about “us” in this season! Thank you!

    Not everyone sleeps better with blackout curtains - personally I find them deeply unpleasant and can never sleep well in hotels that have them unless I keep them open. I need to be able to at least tell whether it's day or night outside and preferably see outside at least a little, otherwise I wake up in panic at 3 am, wondering where I am and what time it is, as well as feeling claustrophobic. Linen curtains all the way!

    Why do so many realtors and decorators decry personal decor in the house let alone in the most personal room in the house? I like a home to tell me about the owners who live there. While a hotel room can be very attractive, it’s just that, an impersonal hotel room. The over cluttering you showed was always due to unmade beds, clothes strewn on the floor, etc.,, not personal objects. Huge ho es with bars and kitchens in the bedroom just prove no o e needs a house that big and don’t even utilize the space.

    • @VanessaSamparras
      @VanessaSamparras 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Im a designer and stager. The reason realtors remove personal items is to help potential buyers “see themselves” in the new home. When they walk in at a place with family pictures most people feel awkward, invading privacy or ends up distracting from the house itself. Not to count that not everyone understands what appropriate is 😂 and they display all kinds of stuff people don’t want to see, including dirty underwear and adult toys 🤦🏻‍♀️

    I agree with not buying a heavy bed but I wouldn't go with an upholstered headboard. I know it is currently a big trend but even with performance fabric, ones friends have owned for a while haven't worn that well over time, especially if you have pets or like to prop up and read in bed. They need much more cleaning and upkeep than a nice modern wooden or metal frame that just needs to be wiped down. I also don't agree with not having personal items in a bedroom. I don't think it should look cluttered, but I don't want my bedroom to feel as impersonal as a hotel room, just my two cents or two posh pennies 😉

    I have decorated my master bedroom in Parisian style. Soft pink velvet bed. Painted pink stripes in the wall behind the headboard. Mirrors and oil paintings made be mr, a large Brigitte Bardot poster, and more. A French looking chair in a corner. Beautiful nightstands with pink marbled tops, cream color rug on a dark wooden floor. I lived in Paris and just wanted that here in my bedroom. It’s bright and airy and cozy. Not over the top. Yes yes yes , We do not have a mansion and we do have a coffee pot in our bedroom. We have a Keurig with a cup station. It’s wonderful to just be in our bedroom in the morning together, and have a cuppa coffee before leaving our bedroom to join the outside world! This started when our daughter was a teenager and she can have friends over and we could still be in our own little cave. But now it’s even nice because the dog stays sleeping until we leave the bedroom we could have a nice cup of coffee and relax and talk before starting the day.

    First, a question: you said blinds and showed horizontal blinds. Would this include roller blinds? I was thinking of getting roller blinds to layer under drapes.
    For beds: upholstered headboards are amazing. Especially if you’re the type to either read or watch tv in bed. They give you a nice soft surface to lean against. We had wood before, but it had sharp edges that dug into the back of your head when you leaned against it. We have an ikea platform bed and DIYed a headboard from 1/2” plywood, 2x4’s, medium density 2” thick foam and faux leather. It cost around $150-200 and is hung from the wall on a DIY French cleat (you can make one from 2x4). Granted, diy isn’t for everyone, but it’s a simple enough project if you have a little diy skill and some time and space.
    (I wish I had a coffee bar in my room. But there’s only about 3’ on 3 sides of the bed with just a bed, one dresser, and a laundry hamper. Our bedrooms are disproportionately small for the size of our house)

    Awesome advice always!
    I would love a video about tips when your room has very odd characteristics. For example, I have a loft, meaning a bunk bed with a desk underneath. So… a lot of tips can’t apply to my room.
    Fit rugs under the legs of your furniture? Can’t because the legs of my bunk are 1/3 out into my room and stuck to the floor.
    Fluffy covers with overhang? Can’t because of the thick wooden rails at the top that contains everything in. Or, could I drape them over the rails? But the hard edges don’t look quite right…
    Basically, my challenge is how do I improve my room when 2/4 walls are basically completely occupied by a wooden white loft, the floor has a beam close to the middle that you can’t place anything under, and I need to store a small personal library and small art studio? 😅

    I say this respectfully, you can also make your home look expensive for less there are videos on that. I agree with sometimes investing and splashing out if you can, realistically, not everyone has that amount of money, or is earning big amounts. Good video, my only criticism is I wish it was more realistic and relatable for all. ❤

    Has anyone found a good rod for double curtains? Like the sheer ones and blackout ones together?

      think maybe ikea. i put up two brass rods - one normal and one ‘cafe rod’ size or as small as you can find for the sheers

    I just have trouble deciding between a large framed artwork to keep it simple, or a wooden shelf with some plants and smaller artworks above my bed.

    A 5 star hotel room's prolly the LAST place I wanna sleep. I love to see the stars...a tree fort wd be phenomenal, actually. I love to be able to hear the river, not be in urban chaos.

    I don t like the idea of a mini kitchen or coffee bar in the bedroom. Also very soft rugs and fluffy carpets...not my style, i would obsess about dust and lints no matter how often i clean because of my pet. The rest of the advices i love, especially the one with buying expensive bed sheets. I learn my lesson the hard way, around halloween i bought a brick orange bed sheet and it stained my new mattress so bad, the colour was coming off even after 5 washes. It took a lot of sprays and vacuum to clean but it just doesn t look like new anymore🙁

    The bit about no blinds is too rigid. Those cheap white big box blinds are indeed terrible, but quality cellular shades (which to me are a kind of blind) in the right color are magnificent. Our bedroom’s ceiling is low, and the curtains we used to have on the windows couldn’t be fit properly and made them too busy. We replaced them with good blackout shades and it transformed the room. It made the room breathe. Cellular shades have the advantage of being less busy and having a tighter stack than roman shades. You get what you pay for.

    Why would you want your bedroom do look like a hotel room though? Hotel vibes are the literal opposite of what homes should be.

    There is no such thing as timeless and the Charlotte bed is a terrible investment. For one thing the wing back bed has had it heyday and it is coming to an end fast. Worse the fabrics on that bed are the absolute cheapest and I would wager they are synthetics as well. There is nothing wrong with mirrored beds either, except that the mirrored trend got too popular and became a caricature of itself which happens with many styles like shabby chic and tuscan. If you have the money go to someone like John Himmel who will make you one like Bunny Williams's bed and Mile's Redd's bed. Those are gorgeous mirrored beds and they look expensive because they are expensive and not because of a gimmicky gold plating either. If you love mirrored furniture buy the good stuff not the cheap crap. Now that the trend is waning you can find the good stuff priced similarly to the Gallerie Z junk. Look for the antique pieces or the high end reproductions not the firewood stuff. Instead of the Charlotte bed which takes up a ton of space and might not even fit in your next place, buy a plain bed frame and a custom upholstered headboard and upgrade the fabric to something wonderful or just buy another type of headboard. If you are ready to buy real furniture order something from North Carolina not Joss and Main. Real furniture doesn't come in a flat box or with an Allen wrench.
