I see you are combining two of my favorite Hobbies. Droning and fishing. I say its a match made in heaven. LOL.
In all actuality this isn't a bad idea. A water proof platform takes tremendous worry from any one who regularly flies over water and engages in water sports. It can offer a viable concept for fishing particularly when your going for fish in hard to reach estuaries or along salt water marshes and other hard to cast places.
In addition to pure surf fishing, we fish for Red and Black drum off the coast of north east Florida and I can tell you one thing - casting from shore can be a bitch due to the total weight of the lead, hooks [2 aught] and bait [huge chunks of crab].
Its a mute issue if you use a boat, of course, but that's an additional hassle [even if you own one]. With this set up precision casting can be a breeze - not to mention enjoying two past times at once.
As far as the price - I think it could be a little lower [who wouldn't] but considering it is a truly waterproof drone it may well be worth the price.

My brother and I use a light setup to dunk or slide bait. We have 2 spinning reels on 2 14 ft ugly sticks for small GTs. Now with this drone we can switch to a heavier setup and drop the line without casting aka burning our thumbs lol. Thanks for the reviews.

But it works just as good and couple thousand dollars less. I love fishing with what we call a jurk pole. Love the fishing tips and video. How do you find the quality of the PL3 camera footage over water looking down at the fishing action? Could picture clarity be improved by using Polarising filter on the camera? Do you know if they are available anywhere as an add on? Waterproof screw on type filter would be need to maintain integrity of the package I guess.

I'm not sure on the polarized add on but the quality is average compare to other drones. At least the equipment is waterproof I guess ✌️.

Great video! Man I miss Hawaii. Bubble float in front of the ika will keep it out of the rocks, the fish will come up and get it dont worry. We use to clean up on Weke and squirrelfish and sometimes white eel like that

Maybe try a float rig instead of a dunk when fishing straight from the drone. At least you’ll have an indicator when fish on.

Try scenic on the left side, deepest part & high enough to slide. Theres a nice flare area where can launch. Been meaning to try it out but haven't had the time. Maybe link up one time & try it out.

Hi Dustin. When nothing is caught, you could try attaching the drone with the slider line and fly back out and above so the hooks won’t drag and catch but instead be lifted vertically, then fly back and reel it in stages back to the beach.

If you use a thing called a grip lead. You won't have issues with wasting sinkers. Also, get a boogy board, cut some square small pieces off it and attach it to your line that has the hook, that way your bait floats up off the rocks.

Hey Dustin! You might have tried hooking the drone on the line and send it down to see if it could have pulled the hook directly upwards or even backwards to free it.
You guys have some great ideas in the comments. All to keep in mind for future fishing in this series 👍
Oh..the drone is great, it does everything it is supposed to and more....if I wasn't so poor I would get one in a flash.
You can always move in with Dustin and I'm sure he would let you fly all of the drones you want.

Hey. No never had that issue but it sounds like you just need to re seat the servo arm in the right location on servo gear teeth 🤙

Aloha Dustin, Love you videos brother. Do have an old soft top longboard? Easily converted to fishing vessel to get you off shore away from da reefs that snag regularly. Ula fishing at night on a full moon on a long board rigged for fishing is a blast!

Aloha I was wondering when flying a drone on a public beach day or night is there any permits or legal stuff I have to get or something dealing with the FAA lmk mahalo.
Just use common sense and respect others trying to enjoy the beach. Unless you see a sign or there is a local ordinance, there is nothing stopping you. I rarely fly if there are people around close enough to see or hear it and it's been working very well. 👍
Use a steel leader on a swivel with a bobber the kind with a long white spike on it so you can see when a fish is hitting on your bait.....you'll have better luck knowing when you're getting a hit......good luck buddy.....!!!!
Hey Dustin, great review of the drone, pity you don't really know much about fishing. You don't adjust the drag like that, that is how you set it. The lever is for adjusting it while fishing.

If you want to fish directly from the drone you would probably need a bungee cord between the drone and the line to set the hook
Yeah you should have striked at that fish at the end of the video.
But can't wait to see the next one.
One thing to try seeing as you have the drone it lure fishing so get a jig and use the drone to drag it round like a fish swimming.
Looked like he was using a circle hook, you don't do a traditional hook set. Just slow steady reeling, if you just jerk it like you would bass fishing your likely to just pull the bait outta the fishes mouth.
I think by the time I was getting the bite the entire rig or other larger hook/line was in the rock but I think I should have tried your right. Next time 👍

Right now Im using Mavic2pro for fishing and I'm planning to upgrade my gear to Splashdrone3+ or Phantom4 2.0
My choice is the Splashdrone but my concern is flight-time. Splashs advertized time is 20min but I expect it more like 15~18min or even less since I use heavy live bait. Yet the waterproof is too good for me to abandon. I'm having trouble making a decision. I need help.
Your timing estimation is about right. You really only need a couple of minutes to take bait out anyway. It can carry a lot and does the job with piece of mind that it's waterproof. Not nearly as advance as DJI but it has it's strengths 🍻

You can storage charge the batteries with supplied charger (about half charge) if you're not going to be flying for a while 🍻. Really flush motors and camera with fresh water if you dunk it in salt water. Then fly until dry for longevity 👍

I bought a H501S and was tinkering with the 5.8 frequency . I didn't look first to see what the factory number was , if you still have one could you let me know ? And what does the yes or no mean below it ? I've looked everywhere on line to no avail . If you can help me I would greatly appreciate it ....Thank You .....
Hey Mark. I've given away or sold my H501's. You should be able to try all the channels and lock back on to the FPV the drone is transmitting. "Yes" should mean to confirm channel frequency change I believe.

Maybe it was for the pro 1 but it seemed like it would fit the pro 2 also. Try searching Google for Mavic pro remote drop device and lots should show up.
