      the bullcrap that Kirk pulled with the VAERS thing is so dishonest. The figure he gave isn't the number of people who have died from the vaccine - they are reports of deaths that occurred after the individual took the vaccine, and as such should be investigated. They are being investigated and guess what -only single figures have been found to have any association with the vaccine.
      It's a shame Vaush didn't know this for sure, because he wasn't forceful enough with his intuitively correct response.

    I used to think Destiny had the biggest head to body ratio but if you consider the bare surface area of Charlie Kirks face he may actually be ahead of Destiny here. No pun intended.

      @Progger11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +68

      @@onepartyroule I totally understand what you're getting at, but we need to be careful, here. "Survival of the fittest" is not Darwinian. It's social Darwinism, which was promulgated by Herbert Spencer and is indisputably pseudoscience. It's this "version" of evolution that conservatives almost always cite to legitimize social inequality.

    • @luciddreamer616

      @@Progger11 Fitness in evolutionary biology is just the likelihood that you will reproduce. It has nothing to do with fitness in the colloquial sense. A male praying mantis gains a massive boost in fitness if the female devours his brain during sex -- he even has a second brain in his abdomen that will work harder to fertilize her eggs after he dies.
      The social Darwinist's use of the phrase appropriates the word fitness and misconstrues it into something that has nothing to do with biology, but it is necessarily true (barring a planet-wide extinction) that the fittest species are the ones that survive on an evolutionary timescale. It's tautological, really.

      @Progger11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@luciddreamer616 "Survival of the fittest" is what was referenced, and that is social Darwinism's turn of phrase. It was that I was drawing a line on. I'm an anthropologist who studies mammalian evolution, and I contest your claim that "fitness" is a good term at any level of evolutionary understanding. Evolution isn't a ladder, and we need to get away from using terminology that helps perpetuate the misunderstanding that it is. Even within fields where we understand the nuance.

    • @luciddreamer616

      @@Progger11 Completely disagree. Fitness is a basic biological term and "survival of the fittest" is a reference to this trait that social darwinists misuse. It's very hard to really determine the level of quality of Vaush's performance in regards to his other debates because within this whole event, Kirk asked so many questions and this whole convo was mostly Vaush having to explain his views rather than tear down why Kirk's fundamental prescriptions are wrong, although when it did come time to do that at many points I think he did a good job, although I wish he went harder. Kirk and Tim Pool had complete control of the convo, so it felt more like a Vaush interview and broad discussion where he tried to come off as reasonably as possible (which I do think he did a good job of) rather than an actual back and forth debate, as he'd traditionally do on his channel, which I understand was kind of the point, but because most people are probably more accustomed to him in his more loose and homely setting, it's hard to determine his performance on a quality level other than that he did better than Kirk obviously because Charlie just said a lot of incorrect things, agreed with Vaush to an extent, or asked questions lol.

About a year ago, my daughter was 4 and she asked why isn’t her hair beautiful like the kid on TV (a white character), so I replied, “your hair is beautiful”. Then she said “my hair can’t be beautiful because it isn’t like hers”. Jesus Christ, I was not ready for that conversation. Of course I’ve seen studies about it but how do you approach that conversation with a child?

      I saw someone post a video with their daughter. It wasn't in the video, but she said that her daughter (who's got to be like 4 or 5) said that some character was beautiful because she's white. For context, these people are Filipino and dark skinned.
      You're going to get that when like 95% of all entertainment media is mostly white people. I could be wrong but I think the last time a blockbuster movie came out with a mostly poc cast was Black Panther.

    • @note4note804

      I hate to break it to you, but that isn't a "racial bias", that's just kids idolizing weird traits in cartoon/beautiful actors. Kids with curly hair can hate that they don't have straight hair, and I knew at least one 5 year old that was upset that they didn't have "anime hair".

      @@note4note804 If you want to take a surface level look at it sure, but in reality these biases are so caked into our culture that basically every child on TV and every doll is white with straight hair (most black cartoons have straight hair as well, strangely). These racialised beauty standards are being taken in by kids from a really early age and children understand them. For instance, a princess is like the quintessential representation of beauty for little girls, if a young child only sees white princesses with blonde hair then that’s what they are going to associate beauty with.

      He is a passive guy, even if his opinions are bad when active, he still has a speciality in passivness which shows his strenght in here as a mod

      @@friendlypup5650 this wasn’t directed at me, but naw, I’m not going to “trust you.” I’m going to form my own opinion, as everyone else should. These comments are full of “Charlie is ignorant, or doesn’t know what he is talking about,” without any specifics as to what point or part of the discussion this is referred to. All three of these guys are very specific in to what they are arguing or position they are trying to support, and the majority of the people commenting on here cannot seem to even approach this level of thinking/reasoning.

    Unrelated to this specific debate, I believe the world needs for Vaush and Destiny to become allies again. I don't care who started their beef and why. We need them as allies, not enemies. Anybody remember the debate they had with James Allsup and Eric Stryker? We just watched Vaush vs Charlie Kirk; imagine Vaush and Destiny vs Charlie Kirk and Ben Shapiro.
    The Mega Powers have been feuding for too long. We need Hogan and Savage back together.

    This guy harmonizes with science the way oil harmonizes with water. Vaush soundly responded to the critique about vaccine side effects, and Charlie essentially replied with "brb going to meditate on irony." It went right over his head. I have the same reaction as Destiny here. It's cause for anger.

      You can tell a conservative is being taken out of their frame when they have an extremely difficult time keeping on task during a topic they themselves brought up.

    I think Vaush didn't push back alot because CHarlie Kirk didn't EVER push back. He would state a position, vaush would push back and then Kirk would basically say "Agree to disagree" and then go quiet for the next 10minutes while Tim picked up the dead weight. Tim did pretty good as a moderator. Also the depth of Kirks random factoid knowledge was pretty impressive. Its really apparent that Kirk is a hyper trained and disciplined media figure so it feels like that Kirk came in with that plan exactly. Tim Pools fans gushing over "civil discussion" more than the topics being discussed was real annoying. Like, okay, we get it, its cool they're not screaming at each other and hurling chairs, move on.

    I've been hearing a little voice in my head screaming every time I hear a conservative/pseudo-libertarian talk about Covid-19 vaccines, morals, the constitution, election fraud claims, etc...
    After watching the first five minutes of this video, I finally figured out that little voice in my head is actually Destiny.

    Why don't people want jobs? Because the jobs are shit. I don't see companies offering good salaries, benefits and conditions having trouble recruiting
