To my mind, this is the closest we've ever got to actually being how Drumeo likes to title this series: He listened to it once, and then played it perfectly. That lead sheet and his ability to stay with it while playing were as bang on as could ever be. You've talked in the past about how difficult endings can be, and he absolutely nailed it. Nice commentary on the jazz tendencies and how they carry over when jazz drummers play other styles. I'm a singer & guitarist, and I love hearing about things from the perspectives of other instruments. Yours has quickly become my favourite "drummer reacts" channel for getting deep into the psyche.
Had a guy come through back in the club days who was a lefty. Not the first I had seen but he played a normal set up and was amazing. I asked him about it after they played and he said just that. I dealt with too many obstacles over the years and just said screw it. I had to laugh a little. Best answer possible.
I love your enthusiasm for the stylistic differences of these drumers and the unique perspectives and interpretations they bring to the original tracks. And then you explaining what why and how of those choices. Great channel, great content. 👍
I'm really glad you reacted to this one. I really loved his version. I liked his drums more than the original. They gave the song more of a groove I think.
TW: CSA Fun fact: This video helped me get over significant trauma about this song. I'm a CSA survivor, and this song was unfortunately an integral part of that. I couldn't listen to it from 8 to 32. I watched the video because I LOVE the format Drumeo does here, and listening to Frank play his version helped me break the song out of the box I had put it in and start appreciating it.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've had that thought occasionally, how someone can just go on if a song is attached to trauma and that song is played on the radio or is just overall popular. I'm glad to read his version helped even a little bit because I think his approach really changes the song in some ways.
I could listen to you talk drums all day lmao. EVEN THOUGH I know absolutely nothing about anything when it comes to them, I am a music junkie, and drums happen to be my favorite. Ran across your other reaction on Drumeo, whichever is the most recent, and now I am just going through a marathon of your reactions! I've seen the Drumeo original videos already. So I'm just here for the endless deep dive! Thanks for all your insight
as the creative guy in our band, let me tell you, working with a lefty drummer is honestly a bit of a headache ^^' whenever I have cool idea for a groove or fill during a session, I can never just show him how to play it, I always have to awkwardly explain it to him. also always a struggle playing small gigs with other bands sharing a single kit. FOH guy just loves it when you rearrange his mics randomly.
Welcome to the world of being a lefty. We are always learning shit “backward” with all you righty’s out there. Everything is made for you. lol. We all start on right hand kits. We are always looking at right handed people for lessons. That’s why we all have unique vibes.

As a lefty drummer myself, it's good to see someone can thrive as a lefty. It feels like there are so many obstacles when you play that style.

I keep commenting on their channel to get some pop/jazz drummers to do slaughter to prevail. We need that
I'm with you. That hurts my brain too! I've never seen a lefty drum style. Cool though!
I could never imagine playing with a kit like that... an im a lefty.
Left handed drummers make my head hurt. lol 😂
He did a better job than the original while wearing sketchers
While the ride playing on chorus looks a bit off for industrial metal, playing the ride on choruses is quite common in pop rock and 80s rock.
Very true!
I watched this video in the mirror so it looked normal
