Never heard of Ashton or his band before, but I am a Megadeth/Dirk fan so it caught my eye. Man I think he did great, especially considering someone from a pop band. And he had a great sense of humor about it. And Dirk is a really sweet guy..

Just watched this vid of Ashton yesterday, so you guys are part of the algoritm, all good! ;)
I found Drumeo though Pianote, a similar channel who works with piano musicians, though the principle of these videos is the same - they remove the keys parts and the artist needs to come up with their own version of it. Sometimes it turns to full-blown re-production of the song, which so cool to watch. I adore these channels and the videos are both educational and entertaining, and as you said, such a nice vibe!
I've discovered them when Harry's Late Night Talking vid played by Jonah Nilsson showed up on my recommended videos. A good watch, you should react to it sometime))

So the drummer can listen to the song as many times as they want before they do their take. He just happened to only listen once (Chad Smith didn't only listened for 30 seconds before he just started playing).
