    I've convinced myself these are cheaper than a broken bone in my foot/ankle so hopefully they cover the cost of themselves.
    I was leaning towards the Fastbacks but after going down that rabbit hole I'm convinced to 'go big' on my boots.

  • @georgecarmel6114
    @georgecarmel6114 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Are they worth it? Boots are as important as helmets, knee braces, protective gear. Boots are your connection to the bike. It probably helps your knee problem because it keeps you gripping the bike with ease.

    I only have about 20 hours on my SG-22's, but I fell in love with them the moment I tried them on. I have been using the SG-12's which I've always liked, but these felt broken in from moment one. I have a seriously large ankle from a previous injury and a large bunion on my right foot, and these don't bother them at all. If you're on the fence because of the price, ask yourself how much not breaking your foot/ankle is worth to you. Gaerne boots have the best protection out there, period!

    Hands down they are the best boots. The price really isn’t horrible if you consider a pair of custom leather boots are $600.
    What is the cost of an ankle/ foot surgery?

    Sg22 vs sg12. Very similar can go back and forth without noticing. Buckles seem to come undone more on the 22 but maybe haven't set them completely already. If you can get a good deal on the 12s probably would be my choice

    Gret review Morgan. I have wide feet so i'll go for a pair of 22's. On thing that scares me is ripping the sole off. Most of us in Thailand have this issue with the rocky hard enduro we ride. part of the problem is we seem to get SG12's manufactured 4 or 5 years ago and suspect the sole glue has lost its grip. (just our guess).

    It’s funny my sg 10s seemed to narrow and they seemed to narrow in ankle so I had to size up . I tried sidi x3 enduro , and have more room in the toe box than the sg12. The protection on the x3 enduro is nothing like the sg12 but the fit and comfort is great and they keep my feet dry. Looking forward to trying some of these out.

    Good thing you said all that "hometown boy" stuff at the beginning..... I thought for sure you were about to pander for a Gaerne sponsorship 😂🤣 ....
    I have wide feet(12EE, I can't even fit into AlpineStars Tech boots), I've tried 3 pairs of Gaerne's SG10, SG12 and Fastbacks, all of them kill me. Not only in the toes box but the heel area is almost worse. Strangely the MX boots that fit me are Sidi CrossFire TA's, I use size 47...

    Does the SG-22 have more ankle room than the SG-12? I love my SG-10s. I've had multiple pairs over the past 15ish years. I bought a pair of SG-12 but they squeezed my ankle too much so I sold them.
    The squeezing caused bruising and sore spots on the sides of my ankles. I tried to like them. I wanted to make the work, I wore them on multiple rides to break them in. I even tried stretching them out by stuffing a softball in the the offending area to stretch it during storage but it didn't help.
