Not necessarily corn syrup related but in the late 70s when I'd take my 6 and 8 year old grocery shopping and got tired of telling them no to most of the cereal they wanted I finally relaxed my standards a little and told them they could have any cereal they wanted as long as sugar was not listed in the first three ingredients, then told them all the forms of sugar. Next time at the store they asked if they could have some cereal and I said "I don't know, can you?" They said "oh, yeah," and started reading the list of ingredients. Then they said "No, darn it" and put it back. They then proceeded to look through the various cereals to find one they could have. I never had to argue with them again about their cereal.

VERY IMPORTANT thing to note: they don't have to label it "high fructose" or "corn". The reason manufacturers in the US use corn syrup is because sugar in the US is regulated by the US government to restrict its availability. This causes sugar to be more expensive in the US than the rest of the world. If you look at commodity prices in the futures market you will see there are futures for US sugar and futures for world sugar which is cheaper. As a result manufacturers in the US use corn syrup since it is not regulated and thus cheaper. This is one of the many agricultural policies the US government institutes that ruins our health.
I'd like to see what the original ingredients were in the '60s and '70s on those cookies. I don't think a lot of that other junk was around at the time. Sugar was probably in them but not fake syrupy sugars I would imagine.

HFCS: It is not high fructose corn syrup; I named it High fructose corn sludge or High Fat Corn Sludge (syrup). I drink real sugar Pepsi and Mountain Dew and Mexican Coca Cola, and Cherrywine (glass bottle version only). Gluten free Oreos do not contain HFCS. I do not drink fast food milkshakes because they are actually Cornshake with milk added. There at least one "milkshake" at Arby's has HFCS listed three times. Hershey's chocolate syrup ingredients: HFCS, Corn syrup then coco, essentially Hershey's chocolate syrup is chocolate flavored high fructose corn syrup. Many pancake syrups had HFCS as the first ingredient. Also, it makes me mad they now name diet pop: zero sugar, because one pop does not contain real sugar and the pop with HFCS is really zero sugar.
Sugar is glucose fructose, HFCS is also glucose and fructose but the fructose is higher making it slightly sweeter. It's basically the same thing but worse. So any soda with HFCS can't be sugar free and artificial sweeteners in diet pop is even worse

Before the 90s everything was made with pure sugar. High fructose corn syrup didn't take off until the late 80s into the 90s and that's when the obesity and diabetes pandemics started. It's so easy to realize it's due to the high fructose syrup since before the 90s obesity and diabetes were much less common
I eliminated HFCS in my diet a couple years ago. I don't drink soda anymore. Every major brand has it in it and the brands that don't are just way too expensive. I've cut down on sugar too, but still eat sugary cereals most mornings. I don't feel sugar is anywhere near as bad as HFCS. I thought corn syrup wasn't that bad for you as long as it isn't HFCS. But since I lick eveything off my plate (my Mom taught me to never waste food and i take it to the extreme) and it takes me an exorbitant amount of time to get my plate clean after adding Karo to my waffles that it would make since that it is bad for you. But once my Karo stockpile of 9 jars is gone (I got a great deal) I will probably just stick to my tried and true method of mixing brown sugar with water and butter for my syrup needs. It's a lot thinner than what you buy in the stores so it takes a lot to get the waffles or pancakes to fully absorb and then if you put too much on I get to lick the plate clean as I always do anyway for an added treat. lol Here's the recipe in case you were wondering: 1 cup packed brown sugar and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil while stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 Tablespoon of butter and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla until butter is melted. Serve hot. I've even made an extra batch and poured what I didn't use into an old store bought syrup bottle. Then I put that in the fridge for another day. The problem with that is the brown sugar coagulates in the neck of the bottle if you don't use it for some time but it never seems to go bad. You may need a knife to poke the brown sugar down from the neck and then shake vigorously. Or better yet, you could be smarter than me and pour it into a glass jar. Problem solved!
Check out golden barrel for real pure non gmo corn syrup without additives. It's 100% pure corn glucose syrup. I've used it on my pancakes lol I would make one with maple syrup and one with pure corn syrup.
thanks for these videos - helps a lot - fyi - Heinz ketchup has simply ketchup with no high fructose corn syrup - that is what I use - I hope that one is ok

Politicians who want to run for President some day do everything they can to favor Iowa corn farmers. The first primary election 'caucuses' are held in Iowa and they want to win there. That's a main reason why we have the mandates for ethanol in our gasoline.
Well all that government subsidized corn and soybeans they can't sell it to China or the European nation so they've got to do something with it for crying out loud IT doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out!!!! That's how well educated our politicians are & a medical doctor only sees one course in his entire 7 years of college on nutrition the same with nurses and veterinarians!!!!
Organic sugar is just sugar period I think. The real problem is refined sugar. When it says "cane sugar" that's just refined sugar. It's trying to trick you there by saying it's healthy with the phrase "cane sugar." It's not healthier. If sugar exists unrefined, let me know! Better than corn syrup.
One of the reason US is best market to invest. Its hyper capitalist. High fructose corn syrup leads to high profit for junk food manufacturers, doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies.

I’ve heard from Owen Cook that HFCS causes your prefrontal cortex to not work as well. Which is key in real life decision making, will power and creating models or the world and planning. Things like that.
The cheapest way to create a health crisis. High fructose corn syrup is a habit forming, and inadvertently has put Americans in a path to suffer from a miriad of diseases like diabetis!
Today everybody talks about a plant base diet? How about a free corn syrup diet?
Ty Bobby, I went to Primal kitchens and ordered some ketchup! 😊
Thanks Bobby for letting us know. I wonder what should we buy for kids if every thing has corn syrup . It’s really hard to convince kids as, my kids often get offended when I make them keep every thing back at the shelves , after reading the ingredients .
Thank you Bobby 🙏🏻 that is good 👍🏻 information we all need to know💜
Primal kitchen ketchup is freaking amazing! I have gone exclusively to it. It just stinks that it only comes in small bottles. I hope they come in bigger bottles or squeeze bottles even at some point.
They now make it in 11oz. I saw it at Von's. It is $11. I am hoping Costco starts to carry it at a lower price, like their large container of mayo. Thrive has the large ketchup.
@@cR_cal I just saw that on the Primal kitchen website. Definitely would be nice if Costco carried it! That would be excellent, get a 2 pack for 10 bucks probably.
@@JC-bl9bo My Costco (Plainfield, IL) carries the 11oz Primal Kitchen ketchup in 3-packs. I don't remember the actual price but I believe it was $3 - $4 per bottle.
@@JC-bl9bo Costco did but stopped.
Shame on the U.S. government! Thank you for showing us the truth!
Bobby, Bobby. Red 40 and Blue 1. Hit the target right in the middle. Those colours are derived from coaltar refinement. Industrial waste extract would be a better ingredient listing; instead they use pretty colour names.
There's a big difference between corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup by the way. Corn syrup is mostly glucose.
Thank you so very much for this video! I was surprised to find sulfites/sulfates in baby food. Especially in the Gerber Grain and Grow whole wheat. And in Gerber Baby Cereal 2nd Foods Probiotic, Oatmeal Banana. I would love to learn about other foods that add this preservative. I also noticed it in the ingredient label on the baby formula you show in this video. Thank you.
That's right, only in America use high corn syrup.
The composition of sugar products in America and Madrid, where I live, is different. The sugar in Coca Cola products in Madrid is only 10 grams 100 ml, while production in America uses 39 grams of sugar.
USA coca cola
Ingredients :
Carbonated Water , High Fructose Corn Syrup , Caramel Color , Phosphoric Acid , Natural Flavors , Caffeine
Sugar 39gram
Madrid coca cola
Ingredients :
carbonated water, sugar. E-150d dye. acidulant phosphoric acid and natural aromas (including caffeine).
Sugar 10 gram
I was surprised to find corn syrup added to half and half in the dairy isle.

As a taste enhancer probably
The reason manufacturers in the US use corn syrup is because sugar in the US is regulated by the US government to restrict its availability. This causes sugar to be more expensive in the US than the rest of the world. If you look at commodity prices in the futures market you will see there are futures for US sugar and futures for world sugar which is cheaper. As a result manufacturers in the US use corn syrup since it is not regulated and thus cheaper. This is one of the many agricultural policies the US government institutes that ruins our health.
Well 've got to keep the politicians well fed and fat especially their wallets
U r a wealth of knowledge. Love u Bobby 🙌❤️🙌
I'd like to see what the original ingredients were in the '60s and '70s on those cookies. I don't think a lot of that other junk was around at the time. Sugar was probably in them but not fake syrupy sugars I would imagine.
Me too. Also, I bet they werent made in Mexico back then like the package now says.
Joke: What did they call organic food in 1950??? Food!!! Disgusting how big business is poisoning us.
Returned my Ritz crackers to Costco and gave away the fruit snacks I grabbed without reading the label .. I never knew... no wonder my weight is such a mess.. ughh THANK YOU!
Entenmann's chocolate chip cookies! SO good
Its packaged and processed foods that have HFCS and seed oils. Learn to make your own food so you control what you put in your meals.
Just don't eat anything that has an ingredient list
Your doing work for the Lord Bobby! Please keep it up I share these videos as much as I can to try and wake up my friends and family! Thank You!
I'm so glad you talked about baby formula 😢it really is criminal. And something many parents need if they either choose not to or cannot breast feed. Glad to know there are a few better ones out there
Back in the 60's our moms made their own formula from cans of evaporated milk and corn syrup. No idea why.
Love the US and North America but thank God I live in Italy. The most dangerous sugar source is grandma making pizza and pasta! :-)
Thank you so much. Amen
I lived in Germany for years. I hated that the same brands in Europe are healthier because the government puts people's health before profit but in the states it is the opposite. If they make it healthier for one country they should make it healthier for all thier consumers
I only get acid reflux when I eat anything with corn syrup. I avoid it like the plague. Just moved back from overseas and am shocked at how many things have it. Bread is one of the worst offenders.
I also only use olive oil, pure butter, and now avacado oil. None of them trigger my acid reflux.
Since I started reading labels, I can almost always find an option without it. Takes time and it's sometimes pricier but it's usually out there
70 to 80 years ago they told mothers to put corn syrup and milk in babies bottles.
I'm so glad I came across your video (and your channel). In 2014, I became allergic to corn. Because of this, I had to leave the US for good since everything you eat there is corntaminated!
My MIL used to use corn syrup instead of maple syrup on her pancakes, just a generic brand. she didn't have maple syrup in her kitchen. I always thought that was disgusting. I think she was brought up that way because she went through the Great Depression as a child and that was what her mom used. Ewww. If i want a syrup I go with real maple.
Thank you for sharing the information. Craig
I make Bobby's ketchup, so much better than store bought in taste and ingredients, and use it in his bbq sauce recipe as well. I also make my own mayo as a base for many things including salad dressings. Thanks to Bobby for trying to educate people as to what is in our food.
I cannot believe they it that sugar in baby formula. That's criminal like he said. Horrific!!
I learned over 20 some years ago from an elderly couple that owned a local bakery that to make soft batch type of cookies the main ingredient back then commercially used was corn syrup.
Because it’s addictive !! People read the ingredients of products.. liquid coffee flavored creamers has vegetable oil, fructose etc!!! There is other choices cleaner but pricey!!

All of your examples apply to Canada as well. Exact same brands, no HFCS.
Thank you Bobby!

I love watching your videos and your content. But I was wondering if you would be willing to a Bobby's food philosophy 101 video? I ask this because I am trying to figure out a good balance between what food is okay and what isn't okay. For example, legumes. Okay, not okay? Keto, low carb says not okay. Long form would be awesome. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving
Just eat food that doesn't have an ingredient list that'll solve all your problems
Everyone is different. You might want to look into the blood type diet and see what food are specifically good/bad for you personally
Thanks again Bobby!
Cola used to have cane sugar.
A & W Root Beer is made with cane sugar.
Before the 90s everything was made with pure sugar. High fructose corn syrup didn't take off until the late 80s into the 90s and that's when the obesity and diabetes pandemics started. It's so easy to realize it's due to the high fructose syrup since before the 90s obesity and diabetes were much less common
Food manufacturers: We have changed to cheaper ingredients and passed the savings on to ourselves.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🙏🙏🙏
It's a lot thinner than what you buy in the stores so it takes a lot to get the waffles or pancakes to fully absorb and then if you put too much on I get to lick the plate clean as I always do anyway for an added treat. lol
Here's the recipe in case you were wondering: 1 cup packed brown sugar and 1/2 cup water.
Zevia is too expensive? it's pretty cheap here in Canada. Virtually the same price as big brands
Check out golden barrel for real pure non gmo corn syrup without additives. It's 100% pure corn glucose syrup. I've used it on my pancakes lol I would make one with maple syrup and one with pure corn syrup.
I'm from Canada and they use sugar in our Heinz ketchup.
I buy sugar-free ketchup from Amazon -- Heinz. In Canada.

thanks for these videos - helps a lot - fyi - Heinz ketchup has simply ketchup with no high fructose corn syrup - that is what I use - I hope that one is ok

Profits over people. So true.
what is difference of corn syrup vs. high fructose corn syrup?
Hi Bobby 8:55 . I hope you see & answer this ? I have a stellar pecan bar recipe. And I want to make as a desert for a relatives “celebration of life” get together. Is there any thing else I can use rather than corn syrup? I believe it calls for an entire cup. And it’s everyone’s fav. I’ve been making it for Years. Help?
Thank you 👍👍

Very good point. No one is looking out for us. .except us

Bobby, if it says organic sugar on a brand of ketchup, is it okay to eat or another to avoid?❓🤨
God Bless you Bobby
One of the reason US is best market to invest. Its hyper capitalist. High fructose corn syrup leads to high profit for junk food manufacturers, doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies.
nice
well done
