I saw a bunch of those guys play. My father took me to my first Indians game when I was six and now I'm 71. You must be the nicest person on earth. Stay safe

As a person who grew up in Cleveland, but now lives in Oakland County, MI, I thank you for a job well done on one of the nicest ball parks in all of baseball. Tiger stadium is a gem as well.
@3:54 As a kid I took John Adams' drumming for granted, in a way. I always loved to hearing it, of course, but looking back I now realize how special it was to have him around and that not every ball club had someone like that. Not just a die hard fan, but someone who truly adds a visceral element to the whole experience. It was fun to observe the delay between the time you'd see him hit the drum to when you'd hear the boom boom. He was positioned brilliantly right at the base of the scoreboard, which acted as an acoustical amplifier out to the entire stadium and probably throughout greater downtown.. Dude is a total legend. Great video, Nerd. I grew up in Cleveland and have had many-a-great Michigander friends over the years. Despite the fierce rivalry between the two states, I've meet some great people out that way. The way I see it is that we're all Great Lakers. At any rate.. thanks for making this video. Love the music selections.

I love our rivalry too! Cleveland is by far the shortest distance to see an opponent as a Tigers fan. Nice video!!! Labor Day Weekend in 1995, I drove to Detroit with my mom to see an Indians vs. Tigers afternoon game. We were back home by night. I loved old Tiger Stadium!!! Of all the ball park I have ever visited, Tiger Stadium was my all-time favorite! By the way, your Tigers won that game back in '95. 👍

Haha, we do have a great musical heritage here in Detroit! But Cleveland has done a wonderful job with the Rock Hall, I always seem to enjoy my visits there. And I am happy to show your city some love!
This is a good idea for a series. That being said, some parts of the ballpark in Cleveland are undergoing major renovations, so it might be worth coming back during the 2025 season when those are all completed. Hope you see some more great ballgames.

Thank you for posting this video. I like visiting the different ballparks and I've never been to Cleveland or Detroit. I hope to see a game in these parks along with Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Washington and Baltimore sometime. I've been to about a third of the major league parks including Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, the old Yankee Stadium and SF's ballpark.

Fenway was fun because I went on a guided tour of it the day before the game. We got to go into the press box for a few minutes. It was cool. The tour guide was funny too. 🙂
Love your footage and appreciate all of your kind words about our ballpark! Next time you come to Cleveland, I recommend spending some time in one of the standing room areas if that's possible for you. Since the team started offering the Ballpark Pass last year ($50/mo for a standing room ticket to every home game), the standing areas have been the most exciting regions of the park by far. I'm a regular on the Home Run Porch in left.
I do not remember, so this is purely speculation. Probably not any shirts or hats with explicitly Chief Wahoo, but maybe retro/vintage gear? I believe they had Funko Pops from the film Major League, I imagine those had Chief Wahoo on them.
Next time you are there, go to right field on the ground/main concourse where you may see an usher or two in front of an entrance that leads to the playing field level behind the right field wall. It's free and you get to stay an entire inning. If you ever see people behind the chain link fence in right field while watching a Guardians that's how they got there. Enjoy!

Why did the owners of Jacob's field have to put a second label above the already labeled logo of the baseball field? They could have saved it for something more valuable.
That’s a great question, Christopher! It does seem a little redundant, but I believe the top installation of “Progressive Field” is to make it easier to read from the highway while the bottom installation is for pedestrian view. I’m not 100% sure on this but that is my best guess.

Our stadium is nice but it is 30 years old now. Personally, I like the stadium and wouldn't waste money on a new one. I've never had a bad experience in our stadium but I also haven't been to any other major league parks.

I was able to see the inside of Jacobs Fields for a a couple minutes escorted by the Team Store Mgr. since the ballpark was closed during the off season in October of 1998. Yeah, it was a close game between my Guardians and your hometown Tigers back on 5.8.24, in extra innings. Yeah, the 2024 Cleveland Guardians sure have been have good at-bats and also the starting rotation is slowly improving with a very good bullpen helping Cleveland to now on this Memorial Day Monday Holiday, 37-16 record. Go Guardians!

Hey Traveling Sports Nerd, thanks for making this video about the inside and outside of Jacobs Field (I won't say the "p" word).
I was able to see the inside of Jacobs Fields for a a couple minutes escorted by the Team Store Mgr. since the ballpark was closed during the off season in October of 1998.
Yeah, it was a close game between my Guardians and your hometown Tigers back on 5.8.24,
in extra innings. Yeah, the 2024 Cleveland Guardians sure have been have good at-bats and also the starting rotation is slowly improving with a very good bullpen helping Cleveland to now on this Memorial Day Monday Holiday, 37-16 record. Go Guardians!

Also makes its easier for you from either A) Dubbing over your video later or B) Talking out loud in the park while filming. I think it was all great. As a Clevelander that has never been to Detroit, would love a video of your home park!
