⭐ What do I feed my guinea pigs?
I feed my piggies oxbow adult pellets, 2nd cutting timothy hay from small pet select, and a variety of vegetables. I feed sweet peppers every day and rotate romaine lettuce, red and green leaf lettuce, cilantro, and parsley. I feed the occasional carrot, cucumber, and strawberry. I also supplement with oxbow vitamin c supplements and oxbow digestive support.
⭐ Where did I adopt my guinea pigs from?
Peanut and Marshmallow came from Petco, and Pepper was adopted from the Frau Holle Guinea Pig Rescue in South Carolina. I got Honey from her previous owner who was rehoming her, and I found her listing on guineapigfinder.com. If you are looking to adopt a guinea pig, I recommend a rescue or a locally owned pet store, as guinea pigs there are often more well taken care of and kept in more suitable habitats. Some chain pet stores receive their pets from unethical breeders, and they may even have illnesses when you adopt them. Marshmallow had a respiratory infection when I adopted her from Petco, and I had to return her in order to get her free vet care.
⭐ What do I use to edit my videos and make my thumbnails?
I edit with Adobe Premiere Pro, and use the apps Phonto, PicsArt, and Lightroom on my phone for thumbnails and overlays.

Hi! I was the tie dye cages you reviewed. I only had 2 girls so they had a huge c and c but then the 2 boys desperately needed a new home so I had to split the grids up to be able to accommodate them. I got my new little girl and I named her lumi. Both the boys and the girls will be getting an upgrade to a 2x4 with a loft soon! Thank you for including them!

So the blue PVC tunnel I acctualy found in the woods🤣 yeah... funny story😂. But I washed it super good with soap and everything and it was already that color, like it is made like that. 😃😋🤩

@@autumngrace. different types are used for different reasons.. like waterlines, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, etc.. I think they color them to make them easy to identify so people don’t get confused. They are not painted the the coloring is mixed in part of the liquid plastic before they are manufactured into pipes. So they are safe for piggies.
Btw, I love pvc pipe for use in piggy cages…. I’m going to grab one at a hardware store and make a pee pad for it… My boys pee in everything - I wish piggies would NOT pee and poop where they lay/sleep…ugh.. so much poop! They are actually my son’s piggies so I’m like their Grammy.. lol..
I just bought some fleece super cheap at JoAnn’s - their clearance fleece (which is already marked down to 40%to 70% off) is on sale this week for an extra 40% off on top.. it’s like a yearly sale…. My fleece was originally like $18 per yard - I paid $2.40 per yard.

Thank you for reviewing our cage. We love our girls, Sunny and Silver. And our little dog is Artie…we have two others also. He is a tiny thing at 6lbs 2oz. He isn’t a puppy though…he is 2.

some suggestions for cheap hides/cozies, i use step stools that i've had around the house for no joke 25 years and then i get car sponges from walmart. the ones with the noodle fabric around them. they love laying on them and you can just toss them in the wash

That second cage, you can actually move the shelf to the top of the cage, and hang a fleece forest from it to allow more room for running. 😃

I think the PVC pipe in the cage at 15:50 came that color because you can see the little black printing on it still.
We got a double hammock from Black Paw White Paw for our 3 girls. They would go under it and sit and rest, but they wouldn’t go in it until I made it less open. I laid a piece of fleece over it and trimmed all around the bottom so it was nearly flush with the cage floor. Then I cut strips to make a fleece forest all the way around. After that they started using it! However only one at a time - they won’t sit side-by-side in it. So I only put one hammock in at a time, and switch them out when soiled. So it becomes a canopy area for one girl to rest while the other is in the hammock (for the two girls that are bonded and like to be near one another). The hammocks that come with the frame are adorable but a little on the small side. I bought an 11.5 x 11.5 inch replacement from Little Critter Pet Beds which is more ample (and has better loops and thicker fleece). However both lack a U-Haul layer so the hammocks are just two fleece layers - meaning no absorbent layer and the pig ends up sitting on wet fleece. So I change out frequently. I’ve asked Lucy’s Cozies for help making a hammock with a U-Haul layer. Anyway some tips if you end up getting one! There are some photos on our IG @myguineaherd

Hi autumn! I have not emailed my cage in ( I probably won’t any tiem soon ) but they used to live in 1 Midwest ( I had 2 piggies) but I noticed that they didn’t have much space to run around ( they had multiple hides and tunnels ) so as u could imagine I decided to go ✨SHOPPING✨ for a new c&c grids to build a new cage we ended up with a L shaped cage a (2x6 in total)AND it’s almost done !

Agreed. I have two cage set ups. 2 piggies in each, c&c cages, 2x4 and a 2x5 (with a loft) which is great for them. Once we only have one male, our 2x5 cage will have 3 piggies in it. But they love their cages. So much happier than when the boys were together.
Yeah, those were awful and I hope the owners have upgraded and that no one else thinks those are acceptable as long as they add more toys & hides.
Yes! I have a 4x8 which is 32 square feet for 2 female piggies with so many hidies and enrichment and tunnels for them! I know the minimum is 2x4 but the more the better haha
Some people just do the absolute bare minimum and bare ness they can do for it to not be qualified as “animal abuse” I’d say don’t get a pet unless you can spoil it.

Hey all who own a midwest cage or one similar! If you're planning to upgrade but dont/cant get rid of it, you can attach C&C grids to it. Pinterest helped me discover that hack. You can get grids everywhere.
If you have what the gp community calls a 'petstore cage' which are the really small ones (that aren't big enough for even a hamster) that the petstores sell and you want to extend it you can get a small animal playpen (or C&C grids from anywhere) and attach them to the cage to allow an extension.

Hey on your guinea pig upgrade video how do you take end off of the midwest cage if possible please make a video how my guinea pigs need more space because I have a lot of hidies and accessories
I just used jewelry pliers but any kind of plier to bend the wire grids would work!

@@davaasurenjigden6642 you can get a parent to help then you’re going to want to bend the part that is curved around the other grids away to separate the grid you want to take off
For the lady with the 2 Midwest cages together who says her piggies are lazy…. If she has an area where they could have some floortime? It would encourage them to move around more…. Lots of piggies get lazy when they sit in their cage… no matter how big it is.. they are funny little creatures…lol.. our guinea pigs love their floor time and are only active when they get out of their cage..
I know this vid was 4 months ago so you mite not reply but. Can I use the doller tree fleece with puppy pads on the bottom for my piggys I have 4 girls two. A bonded pair and two im trying to bond . Also how much would I have to change the puppys pads ?
Yes as long as the fleece is wicked. Just change once they’re wet to the touch

So I’m wonder if you could help me with this problem I know it’s not your problem but I have a Guinea dad fleece liner for my guinea pigs and I am 11-year-old kid I got this line of thinking it would work great but it actually smells like P and it’s wet it doesn’t absorb the P that’s always a mess and I don’t know how to send in my cage so I was wondering if you had any ideas of what I could do like any tips or anything that would be great thanks!
I don’t know much about guinea dad liners but is it wicked? Maybe you have to wick it beforehand. Theres videos on TH-cam about how to!
Hey I really want some guinea pigs but one of my mom’s problems is that they will stink. I’ve had guinea pigs before when I was way younger so I don’t remember them stinking but we were also using paper bedding and I feel like that might stink more than fleece which is what I want to use this time and I’ve seen you reply to another comment that was asking how often you change the fleece and you said every 6-7 days, is that when it starts stink or before then? Also do you think that led lights will hurt the guinea pigs eyes or do you think it’s ok? Thanks in advance 😌😊
Hi! I’m not sure about the led lights. Personally mine don’t really stink unless u have your face literally in the cage. Around 6-7 days it starts to smell a little and also the fleece starts to look gross. But overall I don’t have a noticeable smell with them. I also have an air purifier which helps so so much with the smell!! I recommend one

I haven't found a ton of stuff you can use for piggies at the dollar tree, but the fleeces are in the baby section!
At Walmart, do you just buy the fleece blankets for your cage? And how do you get the fleece to stay?
@@kikimarie1191 yes! They have fleece blankets usually for $2.50 or they have fleece fabric in the craft/sewing section. I usually cut it to size then use binder clips to hold it to the side. And underneath I use washable puppy pads but you could also use towels!
Hi, Autumn! I am a guinea pig owner, and I have a couple of questions. I have two guinea pigs. So I have a 5x2 C&C cage.Thats big enough, right? I have a tunnel, and two hideouts. That enough? They have 3 chews, which I switch out weekly. That okay? They have a food/hay dispenser, and two water bottles. They also have a litter pan. I use fleece, and spot clean everyday and full clean once a week. That good? I hold them nightly, for about 30 minutes, and give them floor time every so often. They have hay 24/7 and feed twoce a day, 1/5 a cup per time. I would also like tips on how to keep my room smelling better, so any tips?
Yes that all sounds great! The only thing I would say is for pellets you only need 1/4 cup the entire day for both pigs - so 1/8 cup of pellets per pig per day. To keep it smelling better I would recommend spot cleaning daily or even twice a day if needed, and keep the trash and poo you clean up in a trashcan with a closed and locked lid - I have found this really helps with keeping the old poo smell locked away. Another option is an air purifier but they can be on the pricier side

I have two boys and I have them in a diy cage. They keep getting under there mats in the cage and it is very annoying bc I have to clean up poop under there pads and mats. I tried putting in lots of hides to make them think the dont have to go under anymore but they still do. Do you guys have any tips I should try. Thx
Hi! Have you tried using binder clips to pin the fleece/mats to the sides of the cage so they can’t get under it?
@@autumngrace. yes but in I have two mats. And I can binder the sides but I cant binder the middle so they just get under from the middle.

Hi! I’m wondering if your room smells bad because of the piggies? I have 2 males and my room always smells awful! Do you have a way to make it stop smelling?
Air purifier, spot clean every day, litterbox changes every 2 days, if you have a trashcan or plan to get one get a lid!, all natural air fresheners like vinegar or a cup of just baking soda w/ drops of oils, open a window (slightly) or door for air circulation, a constant rotating fan.
I second pretty much everything above, I spot clean my cages daily, this means I vacuum up all the poo. I put it in a trashcan with a lid so the smell stays contained. I also have an air purifier I run on a fairly high speed 24/7!
I have been trying to move from paper bedding to fleece and I need help on good fleece materials or a good fleece that is not very expensive but works. Plz help if u can
There are cheap fleece blankets from walmart! you can put them overtop of towels in your cage

I think a rag would work! Just try to cover it fully with the hay and monitor whether they’re eating it. Hmm for the Niteangel ball I left the hole open all the way at first and sort of rolled it around in front of them to show them how it worked.

Hey there. Theres 3 things i recommend for the pee pad situation. 1) fold the pee pad sides down and tuck them onto the back side (or the side that will be face down in the litterbox) that way the sides arent exposed. Once you do that cover the pee pad FULLY w/ hay and bedding. 2) use what's called a litterbox pad. theyre like mini cage liners but theyre made/sold to fit in a litterbox of various sizes. ive seen them all over etsy and even seen TH-cam videos on how to make them. I dont know what to search but maybe try "diy guinea pig litterbox liners" or something similar. Its really easy to just dump the poos in the trash, sweep off, and wash. Id change them once you feel that its been used enough or every 1-2 days even if all the pee has been absorbed into the wicked fleece pad. And lastly, 3) a rag like you said. Id recommend a thick drying-body rag of some sort and/or a baby blanket. Just fold it to fit your litterbox and maybe add some sort of absorbent material under the towel for extra absorbence.
@@k_w06 thank you! That was very helpful. I’ve been tucking down the sides and covering with bedding but then if they see one piece of blue they attack it (blue is what the edge of the pee pads look like). I’m going to probably use a rag temporarily until I can get a litter box liner!

I had a guinea pig in the past but he was loud and would wake me and my dad up at night I am not sure if it was because he was by himself and lonely or not could you pls let me know? (Also I did not do my research before but I do know now to get at least 2 guinea pigs!😁)
That could have been because he was lonely. Mine wake me up at night but it’s just with the noises they make to each other, not to me

hi! I recommend doing lots and lots of research and making a powerpoint about everything you've learned and presenting it to them! this will show them you are committed and ready for a pet. you can present on what guinea pigs eat, where they live, and how you will care for them. this shows you are responsible! it's not guaranteed it will work but this is what I did when I was younger! also make sure you get two piggies of the same sex so they're not lonely :)

I'm sorry but that third cage was disgusting. Why would they send in a picture when the fleece was in the wash? Was that dirty bowl for the water? Do they pile up the food like that normally? I feel sorry for their guinea pigs...plus it's not big enough for three. She was being too nice.

Hello my name is grace! Just like Autumn grace but anyway i was wondering if you could do reaction to bunny cages as i would really want a guinea pig but at this point of time it wouldn't be the best investment for me but i do have a rabbit and would love to show my cage!! In the near future i will look into guinea pigs more but I would love to show my rabbit cage and get some advice on whats best if this is something you would like to do please consider this idea
