I love it when I see old pet store "starter" cages linked up to new awesome C&C extensions. Everyone starts somewhere and it's awesome to see the growth in knowledge of pig owners.
oh my goodness thank you for reviewing my cage!! my pigs kept wheeking when they heard yours 🤣 I don't know much about head tilts but sometimes they are caused by a neurological genetic issue, and I think other times they are the result of long-term illnesses usually just something you want to talk to a vet about to determine why it's happening and if its preventable or genetic. and yes I love those bath mats!! I'm planning to try again to bond my four girls and if that is successful then get waffles a baby boy friend! :)
Hi I was wondering where you got the little part of the cage on the top with the ramp. I want to get one for my piggie but I also have a Midwestern cage.
My little Frankie was put to sleep the same day this went up. He had a tumour and there was nothing more we could do. I'm only just being able to watch guinea pig videos again, I love your set up, I'd give anything to have Frank back and see him running around again.
Thank you for reviewing my cage! I have removed the tunnel because I saw my piggies chewing on it and wasn’t 100% sure about it. My pigs know how to use the ramp without falling off, but I did attach a cardboard wall in the side just to be safe. In the far right corner I should mention there was a litter box filled with fresh Timothy hay. Thank you again for the review!
24:33 is my cage! Thank you so much for reacting to it! My cage is actually only 1 Midwest cage! 😂😂 I’m working on getting some grids or another Midwest to protect me walls. The floor is completely protected because I have 2 layers of towels under the fleece blankets. I know towels aren’t the best so I’m gonna make my own actual liners with a U-haul blanket this week sometime. My girls luckily haven’t been interested in peeing on the walls!! It’s really nice but I’ll obviously keep an eye out on it just in case they do start peeing on the walls 😂! I do have 2 pellet bowls in the cage and they are glass so that’s why it was kinda hard to see in that picture! Thank you again for reacting and I’ll take the advice you gave me! ❤️
Hi!! The head tilt is most likely due to a calcified bola. Check out LA guinea pig rescue channel. Most times is comes with varied blindness and/or deafness. I have one piggie that has a head tilt, limited eye sight and hearing. This made her a very particular piggie when it came to cage mates and making sure I always put the food and water in the same place. But it also makes for a very sweet pig. Long term they do tend to have some issues. But the other channel, the lady on there ,Saskia, explains this head tilt thing so indepthly💗 hope this helps!
In my experience head tilts happen when their ears are not well taken care of and get infected. I housed a pig that was neglected and had this problem. After recovery sometimes there is damage left behind leaving them with a permanent head tilt. Sadly it's common in pigs but they can live a happy and normal healthy life. They just need a little extra care. Love your channel and that you are bringing more awareness and love to pigs. Btw I'm so jealous of your gorgeous hair.
your TH-cam is so amazing, it shows so many things about pigs. you care for them so much it is amazing I hope your account gets noticed more because it’s great!!
9:24 you can get the tunnels from Amazon or just at a pet store! You can bend them and make little bridges for them to walk over and then put a little fleece on it. They’re awesome! The best purchase I’ve ever made 😆😆❤️
i’ve ordered heaps of toys for my boys because i didn’t realise how much they could enjoy them! i love how you understand that some people don’t have the space for more than a 2x4 and don’t ask that people add more space. i’ve watched a few cage reviews and it made me feel guilty for not having bigger cages:-( i’m so lucky my paired boys get along so so well, they all (except one) came from really small cages and love the space❤️ you’re definitely my favourite guinea pig youtuber and have been watching a lot of your videos😂
so different from the set ups the pet places had us use in 1985. We had 2 piggies in a 20 gallon fish tank, pellet food, no toys. We gave them veggies. They did have cuttle bone to chew on. We had to take them to the vet because they started losing weight. The book the pet place gave us said nothing about making sure the teeth wore down. So glad they were healthy seeing the way gthey should have been living.
I just have normal bed throws as the blankets in my pigs cage with towels or mattress protectors underneath and I’ve found it wicks so much better than the fleece that I have previously used!!
For the IKEA beds, a more cost-efficient method is getting an old wooden milk crate and removing a few of the panels from one of the sides so that it looks like a bed. You can then add blankets and such. I did it for my rabbit. Also on another note, head tilt can be a sign that your pig is either partially/fully blind or deaf. My younger Pig has a permanent head tilt and through trial and error we discovered it is because she is blind in one eye. Most vets still do not choose to acknowledge that head tilt could be due to blindness or deaf and instantly jump on inner ear infection and put them on antibiotics. In fact some pigs are put on antibiotics their entire life because it is believed they have an inner ear infection.
I’m new here and can I just how pleasantly surprised I was to see how much you absolutely ROCK that hair and mustache combo?! Like holy hell good job man 🥰
I've been really debating and wanting to get guinea pigs!! I found your channel today and I'm already obsessed. I can't wait to get mine ^_^ . Honestly, I've learned a lot so far from watching the videos, and just makes me that much more excited! As soon as I'm out of school I'll get mine, hoping to DIY what I can cuz I enjoy doing that, but want the best for them as I can give!
So happy to hear you are getting some! They are great animals to have especially if you do your research ahead of time to provide them with the best care possible 😆
This kind of content is awesome, I was shocked a little bit when knew your channel just started in nearly time 😅 Love the way you treat your buddies and keep everything clean all the time. From your big fan 😎
Head tilts can be caused by a calcified bulla or can indicate partial or full blindness for pigs. A pig with a head tilt might not always be blind but it is a common indicator that they are. If your pig has a head tilt and it turns out they are blind I would stick to the same layout in their cage if possible so they don’t bump into things.
Watching these videos now really makes me wish I had access to the internet and this kind of content back when I had my guinea ( showing my age here ) he lived to be 8 years old and only had to go to the vets twice, so I like to think he lived a fairly healthy life. But back then no one ( not even the how to take care of guinea pig books ) told me they preferred to live in pairs or groups, in fact I was always told as a male, it was better to keep him alone. Luckily I did take him out quite often so he had company, but it's not the same. He also had an outdoor setup with a large run and a cage with woodchippings and hay ( def no fleece or anything like that! ) I brought him in at night in an indoor cage which in hindsight was too small, but as he was in it overnight only, thankfully he did not spend that much time in there. Once he got a seed from the hay stuck in his eye and the vet told me not to use hay at all, so I shifted to that white hamster bedding stuff! I don't know how he survived in that case if it's so essential for them, he got daily pellets and fresh veggies, fruits sticks to wear his teeth down etc but I feel so bad now.
After watching this, it has given me so much inspo! xx I have 6 piggies in a 6x2 with about 5 inches extra space and a 2x1 loft! They don't get on that well with fleece so i have moved them back to wood shavings. And we are using chloroplast to for them. They have 2 tunnels that are perfect for chewing on and they don't get destroyed that easily, they last about a couple of months until i need to buy more. They have 2 jumbo water bottles on either side of there cage. they have 2 food bowls because they are cheeky and like to push each other out of the way for food. They have toys which they don't rly like to play with they just like to run around and wheet so. Also, could you maybe give me some tips please? because i have a pregnant guinea pig and she is expected to have her little beans around the end of October early November, and 'not to sure if i should separate her from the others so she has her own space to have her little beans, or am i okay to leave her in there and see how they get along? this is my first year owning guinea pigs and my first ever pregnant guinea pig, so i would love some information on what to do if that's okay? Hi! Im getting two guinea pigs in two weeks, and this is actually my first time! I have had hamsters earlier but they arent much alike pigs so i have been watching so many guinea pig yt videos, especially yours, since i feel like u know ur stuff. But I have just been wondering what people have under the hay racks? It seems like some sort of bedding?
That hidey house is great, but I pulled the hay rack rods off. It seemed dangerous to me to keep the hay rack intact because the space between the rods was conducive to little piggy heads getting stuck. The height of the house is too high for my piggies to jump up on. But the space inside of the house easily accommodates 2 piggies. Keeping the area underneath clean and dry is key or the wood will absorb pee and turn brown from poo.
The small guinea pig pet store cage is great for travel to the vet and for emergency evacuations if ever. I have a 2 story cage. They love it. I use a piece of plastic rain gutter I got on freecycle.
I have the house with the hay rack on the side and my boys love it!! They love laying on top of it. I have used it with and without hay, they really didn’t eat out of it so i just have it as a hidey.
I have the same hay/hidey as in the 2nd cage and do use it for hay. One of my pigs does jump up and eat from the top but he's never slid down or got caught. Had it for almost a year without any issues but am looking to get a hay bag soon as I'm upgrading the cage anyway
I noticed a head tilt on my little one and took him right to the vet. Turned out he had the starting of an ear infection. My vet told me that any head tilt usually points to the ears which can cause wry neck. Tumors are another cause.
I low key don't have piggies, I have a rabbit but I love seeing these babies getting good care. Unrelated, every time he wears his hear down I get distracted by how healthy it looks.
I bought a slightly different wooden hay rack at petsmart that has larger slat openings. I also have a large glass baking dish I fill with hay they like to eat and lay in as well, so they don’t always have to work for the hay. 😅
OH MY GOD!!!! One of my piggies Snowball has HUGE balls as well!!! And he’s also a huge piggie, not fat, just huge, I mean he probably is a little chubby but not out of the norm for piggies lol. Now I know, he’s not the only one lol 😂❤️
The one at 20:54 has to be my favorite functionality wise and looks wise… love how there is a pride flag in the room (probably isn’t tied to the enclosure) but it brings it all together.
I don't have guinea pigs, do not plan to get guinea pigs in the future, I am more of a gecko girl, but I am enjoying your videos so much!! Also your hair...eugh! :)
I have a head tilt piggie. It literally happened overnight and I took him straight to the vet. Without imaging which would be expensive we treated for e.cunniculi (with Panacur-28 day course) and ear infection (Sulfatrim antibiotic-20 day course) to cover those possibilities. I think that in his case it was more probably a bleed on the brain as he recovered within 3 days (as the blood from the bleed was able to drain away) and he is just left with a slight residual head tilt although sometimes that can lead to other complications. He seems fine and back to his usual -if not slightly lop sided self- but will always need me to be extra vigilant with his health.
i was t wondering wether or not the water drip bottles are safe for guinea’s? since everyone uses it for theirs, i don’t own a guinea but i own a rabbit and i know the bottle can lead to dehydration with them. i was thinking it’d be the same for guineas too.
in the future i do plan on getting piggies, i sadly dont have the money, space, or time rn but hopefully in the next few years ill be able to get piggies, but rn i have to use my time and money on the 5 cats and 2 dogs i currently own
Hi, anyone know how to make easy toys for my guinea pigs? I bought them hay ball toys and stuff before that i knew was safe but they didn't seem to care about them or want to play with it so I stopped getting those types of toys. Should I assume they don't like toys or should I try and make my own ? Would love to get suggestions on ways to make toys maybe out of Apple sticks since my piggies love them and I have three apple trees that have lots of branches on them :) I also live by a forest so any wooden supplies would be no problem for me to get unless its a large piece.

I loved this video. Look forward to part 2.....🐹🐹🐹❤️❤️❤️
Glad your piggy is safe & you have a vet that you trust
I love your content.
Piggies with a head tilt are deaf in 1 ear.
Love the hair, also want to see mine lol they live outside on 1 acre lol
For the head tilt I really dont know all I do know is if a hamster has one it's probably an ear infection
What size cage should I use for my 4 female guinea pigs
Love your pigs❤️
i was t wondering wether or not the water drip bottles are safe for guinea’s? since everyone uses it for theirs, i don’t own a guinea but i own a rabbit and i know the bottle can lead to dehydration with them. i was thinking it’d be the same for guineas too.
what kind of litter should i use for my piggy
love this video and u are stunning!
in the future i do plan on getting piggies, i sadly dont have the money, space, or time rn but hopefully in the next few years ill be able to get piggies, but rn i have to use my time and money on the 5 cats and 2 dogs i currently own

Thank you! 😆
I know it's not your content theme but I'd love to get a skincare routine video from you !
Hi, anyone know how to make easy toys for my guinea pigs? I bought them hay ball toys and stuff before that i knew was safe but they didn't seem to care about them or want to play with it so I stopped getting those types of toys. Should I assume they don't like toys or should I try and make my own ? Would love to get suggestions on ways to make toys maybe out of Apple sticks since my piggies love them and I have three apple trees that have lots of branches on them :)
I also live by a forest so any wooden supplies would be no problem for me to get unless its a large piece.
Honey's owner is from a famous youtuber 💖😂
I have the hay bin/ house....yes I put hay in it. . Never an accident
