They are beautiful and innocent children and grandchildren of the former soldiers of colonial power. It is our tradition to extend the warmest welcome to our guests and ensure their comfort despite our shortcomings. Hope the host CPO or any organisation gave their best in hosting our esteemed guests. It's also crucial to remind our guests of the Nagas' unwavering support to their grandparents and nation during one of the fiercest battles of WW2, known as the Kohima Battle. They should be informed that Nagas didn't support their grandparents to be handed over to another foreign force. Despite clearly expressing our desire for freedom and independence as it was prior to British coming to Naga country through memorandum submitted to the Simon Commission in 1929, our wishes were ignored. Consequently, Nagas faced another form of colonialism and forceful occupation by India and Myanmar, enduring the cruelest and most inhumane laws to this day. These are the consequences of historical errors committed by the British government, which the new generation of British leadership should strive to rectify.
Hope someone told them that Nagas have bled and died and continue to suffer under India due to the colonial ventures of the British Empire and its negligence in securing Naga rights and wellbeing when they left.
India as a whole is still recovering from British rule as you said. But northeast states particularly didn’t suffer any mistreatment nor exploitation of disastrous consequences. Staying under democratic India and as part of it is whole lot better than being ruled by some military power and getting invaded by china or Burma. If the British didn’t come , then there would be still interclan fights and headhunting going on now. There won’t be any unity nor development for sure if the western development didn’t come and there won’t be development even now if the public doesn’t realise that the militants are eating up the funds for development.
@@ronin9296 Northeastern states particularly didn't suffer any mistreatment nor exploitation of disastrous consequence? Really? Are you aware of the Naga history where tens of thousands of Nagas were massacred by the Indian army because they didn't want to be a part of the newly formed India? Not to mention the horrific crime on women by the Indian forces. According to your logic it would have been perfectly alright if someone came and murdered your parents and took over your home but gave you an education and a monthly salary. Brush up your history and do think deeper on the implications of what you are saying.
@@hof5943Although it’s not part of my history I don’t need to brush up my history nor related to my place or people, I offer my condolences for those who died for whatever unfortunate reasons they had to die for and no fault of their own. But it’s all in the past and if the general populations don’t look to the future or what’s better for them, then these so called fight for independence will lead them nowhere. You don’t have the power nor might to stop foreign invasions, think for the future and let the future generations enjoy a democracy otherwise your future generations might’ve not even be born or worse still live under military power and getting invaded by china or burma
@@ronin9296 When you know history and go through the actual accounts of those who were murdered you get to understand where the present generation is coming from. Your arguments are typical of mainland Indians who know nothing about what their government has done to the Nagas, and what crimes have been covered up by them. The issue is not that Nagas are fighting for independence from India, but rather fighting a colonial power occupying our land forcefully. And the ' invasion by China or Burma' argument is an old one as well. You do not steal someone's land just because you assume someone else was going to steal it anyway. No matter how small a people group may be, they have their rights. Lastly, ive heard Britishers boasts about how they brought education, medical advancement , infrastructural development andmodernity to India, and abolished evil practices like sati etc... as if that justifies their colonial crimes of murdering millions of Indians and the loot they took off with. That is an utterly foolish argument that you are also attempting here. Maybe peace and healing may come when India acquires a moral leadership that is ready to admit to the crimes committed by the past governments, and work to honor and respect Naga rights.
@@ronin9296 What if the British justify their colonial crimes in India by saying that worse could have happened to Indians if the French or Portuguese were to invade. Do you see how stupid that argument is?
