I'm glad someone is making AK lubrication videos. To hear the Bubbas tell it, all you need to do is run a shoestring soaked in diesel fuel down the barrel once every 10 years or so.

Interesting to see how other people do it. I use wheel bearing grease, because it's stiffer and stays where you put it. It's made to hold up to high temps and pressure between moving parts. I dab it on with the end of toothpick. I put it on the cylindrical part of the bolt, where it moves in the carrier, on the carrier in the grooves that ride on the reciever rails, and the locking lug cam groove. A drop of oil on the trigger and disconnector hooks, and pivot pins. Then the whole thing gets a wipe down during reassembly. There is a distinction between lubricating for movement and oiling for rust prevention. I've been doing this to my MAK-90 since I got it in the mid 90's, and she still runs fine.😊

Oil burns off after the first few rounds. Jim Fuller recommends Lucas white lithium grease.

I did enjoy your greasy clip and like to thank you for the little 'hammer-trick' since my
brand-new unused AK-47 likes to flip fingers at me when it comes to the re-assembly
part - take care and keep shooting safely!

Good video man, it's always good to oil your guns to prevent rust but not a whole lot of oil. Hey, may I ask what you used there, was it motor oil?

Just a standard 3 in 1 oil. But yeah motor oil works great too.

5 years no lubrication on my AK. I'm doing it now though with a clean. Just sent 350 rounds no problem before watching this. Over 3k without lubing 😂

I mean let's be real... people who run an ak know it doesn't really need it.

I just slather it in high temp grease in the bolt components and motor oil in thre gas piston area. Runs like a champ.

I personally would use synthetic motor oil especially in high heat areas. 🤔
