I am going to deeply miss these two not facing off against each other. They had, hands-down, the best rivalry in all of tennis. Maybe even of all sports, and they had so much respect and love for each other. Truly a beautiful moment in tennis history, and their skill is still battle-tested against the new guns of today. The first 4 sets of the match were the best quality tennis I've ever saw in my life. Federer threw everything at him, any other time he would have won, but Nadal's defense, spirit and mentality is just unparalleded in this world. None of them came here particulary at their best, Nadal coming from injury and Federer on the way down of the hill, but when stakes are this high, they always bring up their best at the moment.
I would like to know what happened to Federer in the fifth, sadly he just vanished from the court, very anti-climatic ending after winning the fourth.
The match should have ended with double digits in the last set.

At just 22 years old he already had 6 slams and beat the greatest player at the time Roger Federer so many times more than he lost. In fact, Rafa has never trailed in their H2H record ever. This is why he's the goat. Novak wasn't that good at the same age. He only had 1 slam. Rafa has been the most consistent through entire career and he's had to take on 2 of the goats in their primes to achieve everything he has achieved.

This one hit Federer hard. Probably a tougher loss than even the epic Wimbledon final the year before. Nadal was starting to oust Federer on surfaces other than clay. It could’ve been quite a different year otherwise...

Fed at his peak is much stronger than Rafa at his peak..It is not so much important because Novak decided to show up in this decade and has showed us what is the highest peak player can reach..
