@@WastedTalent- or if you could only name one song by the band and it was the most mainstream one. I.E. I write sins not tragedies - panic lmfao. that was a constant one.
To add some context to this video, we have a talent show at Mortimer Jordan High School every year. I am the theatre teacher, and I run the talent show. I play guitar in this video. Every year, at the end of the show when the votes from the judges are being tallied, we get up and play two songs. The bassist/singer is the band director, and the drummer is my adult son (and MJHS graduate). We try to pick songs that are familiar to the students, but because I am an old school metal head, we pick heavy remakes of familiar songs, or in the case of Metallica, play it like it is. We don't really practice. We learn them on our own and get together the week before or week of the show and play through them about 3 times each, and then we come up with a fun scene to make the students laugh. It is simply for fun. The students at MJHS are the best fans one could ask for. I've never played in front of a better audience. As for the big question: Why did I play the Strat for the Metallica Song and the Kirk Hammett for the Miley Cyrus song? Simple. My main guitar is the Yngwie Strat, which I replaced the neck with a Warmoth 22 fret scalloped neck (and I like a reversed headstock), and it stays in standard tuning or half a step down. I keep the Kirk Hammett guitar tuned down to B or C, which is what the Miley Cyrus song called for (as covered by Life on Repeat), so I would have had to set them both up the opposite of what they already are, and that seemed foolish. The band director is multi talented, and though I used to play in bands, I only play once a year now at this event. My son has never been in a band, and he also only plays once a year with me for this. It is all in fun. I'm glad you all...err...most of you, enjoyed it. Oh, and I have OCD, so I wear black and khaki everywhere all the time. I don't own other clothes. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the details. You guys are really tight, considering you're a group that literally does this once a year! Damn. Mad chops on the strings. Singer really tears it up with the vocals.
