This is so great. I am so tired of the sweet oatmeal and I am not a sweet breakfast kind of person to begin with. Do you think you might consider coming up with savory overnight oatmeal ideas? Thank you so much.
Thank you. Savory overnight oats are a great idea! I think that any of these could be turned into overnight oats with the use of rolled oats instead of steel cut, and a 2 parts liquid to 1 part oats ratio. I might have to give it a try.
It was a cool change of pace. I don't think I'm a salt free person at this point, but I find myself cooking with a lot less oil (in general), and overall, I'm trying to just eat more whole foods. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
This is the most healthiest, nutrient dense, balanced full of fiber, protein, spices, vegies & on top of that vitamin B complex rich savory oats. Thank you for creating these recipes. Subscribed!.
I didn’t know that savoury oats tastes so good! I was inspired by your curry oatmeals and added some soy sauce for flavour. One of the comforting, warm breakfast before my college lectures
Love the soy sauce idea. I am the last person to every follow a recipe to the letter. I'm all about giving and being inspired. So glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you come up with any other delicious combinations.
1 tablespoon sounds like a lot... But I've added cocoa powder to my chili before and have noticed the depth of flavor, so I get where you're coming from. Let me know how it goes.
I will say. I may not an actual vegan or vegetarian but after seeing these recipes I'm tempted to try them as I'm looking to get into a more healthier lifestyle after a recent health scare. At the time of this post I've cut out all soda and tea. Making the next move is gonna be tough but my health comes first.
Just discovered you. I would love to see you do a savory still cut out in the instant pot if you ever use the instant pot. I am getting ready to subscribe to your channel. Thank you so much for these recipes.
I've been loving getting creative with my oats. I'm going through an ulcer and can't have a lot of spice, acid, or fat and oatmeal has been a great base to work with.
I think oats are often overlooked. People just think about sweet breakfast porridge, and that's about it. But oats are great, and as you mentioned, are a great base for so many other flavors.
These are really good. I also try to cook without salt or sugar, and as little oil as possible. All so very healthy and great for anybody doing quarantine in these days as all are cooked in one pan. Made the risotto and curry ones so far with couple of changes. For the risotto I added some dried oregano to the mushrooms to bring up their flavour, went with smoked paprika instead of the yeast and also threw in some strands of saffron but if too expensive for you, you could leave it out. For the curry I grated in a medium tomato instead of using the paste (I did saute the onion with the tomato first so the tomato was reduced a little to like a paste) and used cumin and a little ground cloves instead of the yeast, this gives it a great middle eastern flavour. Another tip for those who don't like the acidity of adding lemon or lime juice, just zest some peel in at the start, gives that a subtle citrus zing without the acidity. Thanks for the recipes!
Thank you! So glad you've tried these and enjoyed them. I'm one who never actually follows recipes, so I love when other people make my recipes their own. Once you have the basic ratios down, you can go to town!
Omg I was expecting it to be meaty recipes and just have to deal with it but then you said “vegan chicken broth” and stole my heart!! As a vegan with chickens as pets, I appreciate every vegan out there 💕
I made the curry kind yesterday, so good. This was my first time using nutritional yeast. Can you please make more of these? This is so delicious and a hearty meal 😋😋
Omg I just made the curry oatmeal and it is so delicious. I recommend adding a little bit of cumin powder because it works super well with the curry powder. That’s what I did and it tastes so good! I definitely recommend this recipe
Thank you so much, l really like your savory recipes. I can cook for my dinner because it is recommended we eat oats at night because it will help us sleep better. Best of all no salt as my cooking uses no salt. Moreover your cooking is so simple, all cooked in one pot. 😋
Classic Virgo... For most of my "adult" life, I've received cookware for birthdays and holidays. This saucepan was a gift from my mom at least a decade ago. It's Le Creuset, in the color "lemongrass". They swap colors each season, but they always have one similar to this one. Thanks for watching!
💯% *RECOMMEND THE CHILI* I made it and it was delicious. I didn’t have things like the *black beans* , and *leafy greens*, and *veg stock* . I ended up using chicken stock tho still turned out great!! Would definitely do it again 🖤
I’ll give these a try. I like the idea of partially cooking to al dente texture. These look like great side dishes to bring to a party/potluck where everyone isn’t vegan to show what can be done.
I made the mushroom for breakfast today and it was DELICIOUS. I rate it over the traditional rice ingredient. I followed your recipe to the tea. I will make the chilli one tomorrow. Thank you for these recipes!

Thank you so much for a great video. I've never tried savoury oats before and this video opened up a whole new world for me! I have tried two of the recipes so far and they were delicious, well done. Have a wonderful day, hugs from Sweden
Love this. I would saute the onions, garlic and definitely the tomato paste. This is the way I cook, in water or broth, using lime or lemon instead of salt. I love your ideas will definitely try them.
Sauteing the onion and tomato paste with the curry powder definitely deepens the flavor. I wanted to show how quick and easy it could be, but if you have the time, then you definitely need to be giving those aromatics some more love in the beginning. I still use oil, but more and more I choose to omit if from the recipe if I don't see any major structural reason for it. It's never missed. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Just wanted to let you know that I tried the curry oats, and they were fantastic! I have tried to make savory oats before, but they had always come out way too bland, unlike these which were packed with flavor! Also glad these didn't require any excess broth, coconut milk, or sugar to add flavor. I had to make some modifications mainly to suite what I had on hand, so here's what I did that also came out great. 1. I added the onions and the garlic together with just a tiny bit of olive oil to sauté until fragrant then added the oats to toast in the flavor a few minutes before adding the other ingredients. 2. I added a pinch of kosher salt to bring out the flavors a little more. 3. I didn't have tomato paste, so I added a super thick spicy natural hot sauce I had on hand which added some kick and savory thickness. On the same note I subbed the curry powder for turmeric and black pepper and still had a great turnout. 4. Personal preference because I'm not vegan I swapped the chickpeas for shredded chicken which was wonderful. Overall these blew me away by how much flavor could be packed into oatmeal!
Thank you for taking the time to comment! I love that you loved them. I always see recipes as simply a suggestion, anyway, so I'm all for modifying and tasting and using what you've got on hand. Let me know if you get ambitious and try any of the other flavors from the video.
Trying to lose a to of weight + increase my fiber intake so these recipes are a god gift. Thanks much! Rolled oats (not quick/instant) work the same? Any difference in taste & texture between steel/rolled oats? (I am really looking forward to having the risotto style oats this coming week). Thanks again
Rolled oats will require a much shorter cooking time, and a slightly different water to oat ratio. You could essentially do the same flavor profiles, but cook the rolled oats in the same way you would to make oat porridge.
@@MonsonMadeThis thanks for the reply! I did the "risoatsto" with rolled oats using your water ratio. A bit mushy so i definitely need to tweak the amlunt of water. Great way to add fiber into the diet... I subbed to your channel, hope to see more great content! Keep safe and stay healthy!

(I was rushed so I didn't put a lot of time into planning and creating, unfortunately.) I'm really glad to see this video. I will refer back to this for when I try it again! :)
The universe speaks to us in mysterious ways. Sometimes it's through oats. Haha. I love savory oats. If you come up with any good flavor combos, let me know.
LOL Indeed. :D I think my next plan (rough idea?) was to do something with soy sauce. A bit of carrot, some celery, fresh ginger, maybe some oyster or shiitake mushrooms. I've been on an Asian-inspired kick of late. I will let you know how it goes.
Hey I'm just watching this now. Really inspired! Do you need the nutritional yeast to get the right flavor/texture or is that something you are just adding for a nutritional benefit? Thanks!
These are so great! I had the chili one for lunch and it was delicious! I didn't have any steel cut oats, so I used Bob's 10 grain and it worked great. Thank you for the great recipes ~ Can't wait to try the other two!
Yay! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed it. I haven't tried the 10 grain mix, but it sounds like something I need to pick up. Thanks for watching and taking the time to send some love! Let me know how the others go.
I like savory oatmeal so I will try the steelcut oats. I had steelcut oats for so many years that I decided to not eat them for a while. All three of these recipes look good. Thank you
Looks really good!! I read somewhere that lemon juice gets bitter if you add it while cooking. So you're on the right track adding it when the heat's turned off.
Thank you. Cooking also tends to dull flavors (especially lemon and salt), so adding them at the end helps to make sure those flavors are perceived in the final dish.
Absolutely love what you've done with the savory oatmeal; I'll be giving this a definite go. Just wanted to ask for meal prepping, would you know if these dishes are suitable for freezing?
You'll just have to adjust the liquid and the time. Just use the directions you would when making your favorite oats, but use broth instead. It'll be softer and less like a rice texture, but I think it'll still taste great. Or, if you have the means to order online, just have some steel cut delivered.
Thanks! I I think you could season grits in similar ways, but the ratios and cooking times would be different I think. Have you watched this video?: th-cam.com/video/OXJc-x48vdY/w-d-xo.html
Good luck on your journey. I've struggled with high cholesterol for a while now. I'm trying my best to avoid any cholesterol medication as well. So far so good. I do need to watch my vegan junk food intake, though... Thanks for watching.
hi Yolanda! I don't know if you're still working on lowering your cholesterol, but if you are (and even if you aren't) ginger has many health benefits and one of them is lowering cholesterol! You can infuse ginger in your water, you can steep tea of it, you can add it to cooking to boost the kick and you can even swallow a piece whole in the morning if you dislike the flavour. A coworker of mine is struggling with her cholesterol and she said a slice about the size of a coin per day managed to get her off her medication and back on a healthy cholesterol level! I hope you try it, good health to you!!!
Nutritional yeast is a seasoning that it used to give a savory, cheesy flavor. Here's a link to a brand that is available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1JPZ4F/?ref=exp_monsonmadethis_dp_vv_d
The short answer is: YES. The longer answer is that I would use the ratio and times that I use in this video that features similar recipes, but with rolled oats: th-cam.com/video/rkDDQGBOE6I/w-d-xo.html
I have to get my cholesterol down so no more sausage egg cheese sandwiches for breakfast....I was dreading the idea of eating sweet oatmeal because I can't stand sweet foods in the morning so I am glad there are savory oatmeal recipes out there.
I'm happy that you decided to make the change for your health! Savory oats are the way to go. These are salt free, so if you can have salt, I do recommend adding a bit of salt or a bit of soy sauce to increase the flavor.
I struggle with balance in my own life as well as on my channel. I don't want to alienate people, but I do want to be able to explore all aspects of vegan cuisine. Thanks for "getting me".

This is so awesome. Thank you so much for doing this. I'll be sending this video around to everyone I know!
Thank you! I appreciate all of the love and the shares.
Love ur recipe from india🇮🇳
Thank you so much!
Absolutely love what you've done with the savory oatmeal; I'll be giving this a definite go. Just wanted to ask for meal prepping, would you know if these dishes are suitable for freezing?
Thanks! I think you should be able to freeze any of them. The texture shouldn't be affected too much.
Wanna try these! 💗
Give 'em a go and let me know what you think!
Very very good way to use up oats
Thank you. If you give any a try, let me know what you thought.
Thank you! All my favorite ingredients.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so so much for these recipes!!! 🙌
Thank you for watching. If you make any of these, let me know what you thought.
Can u do savory recipes like this with hemp seeds?
Gotta make these. Great way to eat oats. 🍅 Thank you
Yes! Let me know how they turn out!~

Gratuit idéal !
Thank you!
Simple, easy recipes and nutritional 💚👌
Thanks!
They don’t have steel cut oats where I normally shop is it okay to use regular oats or will they be too mushy?
You'll just have to adjust the liquid and the time. Just use the directions you would when making your favorite oats, but use broth instead. It'll be softer and less like a rice texture, but I think it'll still taste great. Or, if you have the means to order online, just have some steel cut delivered.
@Monson Made This this is awesome! Do you think this would work for grits?? Thanks for coming up with all these great recipes!
Thanks! I I think you could season grits in similar ways, but the ratios and cooking times would be different I think. Have you watched this video?: th-cam.com/video/OXJc-x48vdY/w-d-xo.html
Awesome video!! I an sooo trying this!!! 😊
Thanks! Let me know how it turns out.
I always make the chickpea oats. I add the kale next time. Thank you.
Yay! The kale really makes it.
It's very good ideas with oats... 👍👍👍🙏🇮🇳
Thanks for watching.
Do u have to use steel cut oats? Not so easy to find around here! Just the regular quaker oats!
I just saw this and you are a genius! I hate sweet. Especially breakfast. But you gave me great ideas for savory oats. Thanks!
Thanks! I'm more of a savory breakfast person as well. Glad I could help.
Thanks so much...I need to decrease my cholesterol quick. I got it down like 25%, but I know they keep getting at me to take a cholesterol med!
@@amzilla Thank you, I will take your advice. I need to reverse my fatty liver
Great recipes... thanks for sharing.
Thank you. And thank you for watching.
Do you think these would work with rolled oats? I can’t get steel
cut in my location, unfortunately
It'll work, but the cooking time will be way different. Cook the oats as you would for oatmeal, but then use broth and my flavorings
Monson Made This Thank you! Really looking forward to trying this :)
Great recipe thanks a lot
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Than you for the recipes. But can I use rolled oats?
Thanks! Yes, but I would use the ratios and times that I used in this video: th-cam.com/video/rkDDQGBOE6I/w-d-xo.html
can you tell me what is that nutritional yeast you used?
Nutritional yeast is a seasoning that it used to give a savory, cheesy flavor. Here's a link to a brand that is available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y1JPZ4F/?ref=exp_monsonmadethis_dp_vv_d
Yumm! Prefer savoury oats over sweet oats!
What are the spices you put in your risotto?
Great recipes thank you. 😃
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Can you use rolled oats? If so will this shorten the cooking time or change its consistency?
The short answer is: YES. The longer answer is that I would use the ratio and times that I use in this video that features similar recipes, but with rolled oats: th-cam.com/video/rkDDQGBOE6I/w-d-xo.html
You should dry toast your Oats to get some color and flavor! Not sure if its a common practice, but maybe it should be!
I've never thought to do that, but I think that sounds amazing. I definitely will next time. Thanks!
What is in the curry powder? There's no standard curry mix anywhere so I don't know which spices to use.
Try this recipe: minimalistbaker.com/diy-curry-powder/
I have to get my cholesterol down so no more sausage egg cheese sandwiches for breakfast....I was dreading the idea of eating sweet oatmeal because I can't stand sweet foods in the morning so I am glad there are savory oatmeal recipes out there.
I'm happy that you decided to make the change for your health! Savory oats are the way to go. These are salt free, so if you can have salt, I do recommend adding a bit of salt or a bit of soy sauce to increase the flavor.
I have no idea my boring Oats can have these delicious avatars ... definitely trying thanks a lot
Thanks for watching!
This is great! You really have a decent balanced channel. I love the healthy meals yet, I still want the "good" stuff. lol Your channel is the best!
I struggle with balance in my own life as well as on my channel. I don't want to alienate people, but I do want to be able to explore all aspects of vegan cuisine. Thanks for "getting me".
These look so good!
Thank you, Emily!
