Got my pair today, and these are an acquired taste. As someone who isnt an elite runner, I pushed my fastest 1k rep lifetime. As someone who doesnt love the deviate elite, this is a great alternative. My goal this year was to improve from a 32 minute 5k to a 20 minute 5k so this shoe was always gonna be in my lineup
@@reigaterobot4965 if I didn't have a coach and a specific plan for them I would agree. I only plan on using these for race days and track intervals. Otherwise I'm rolling around in more built for purpose shoes in Training.
Agree that these niche shoes are being superceded by multi use shoes that just do their niche better and provide many more options. Thanks for the great review.. we almost got through a review without Nick mentioning his damn times.. ;)) kidding just jealous :)
These look great and I’m keen on trying these for track workouts, but I’ll happily wait for the price to come down. $220 usd is too steep considering we can get Takumi Sen 8 for under $100. Would need the pumas to be closer to $120-150 to even consider
I think I really want to get these. I have quite the collection of super shoes now. Got the Vaporfly 2's, Alphafly V2, Adidas Pro 3, Adidas Prime X, Atreyu The Artist, Sen 8 and Streakfly. But taking out the Prime X (good but not a race shoe for me) and Streakfly (better race options) they have all kind of gotten to a point where there really isn't much between them and I could pull on any and have a good timed run in any of them so this 5k/10k racer looks the part and is definitely different so I'd be willing to give it a buy to try.
I think I finally realised why I can get away running 10K and 21K in shoes that these testers here will think it's too minimal. And it's not that my feet are conditioned to them that much, it's... actually that I'm slow AF compared to these guys. I don't put anywhere near the force in the ground and therefore I my feet don't bother me hadly at all. I don't wear Reebok because they are freaking narrow for me, but I have done many 21K runs (and time trials) with Escalante Racer no problem.
Puma es kickin' hard , the shoe looks fast but is a very elite shoe and is expensive for a limited use, the problem with puma is that are hard to find worldwide. Is not a shoe for every runner.

That's quite a big jump... Wish you luck. Some specific 5k training and increasing your mileage might help you.

They look freakish, very shark-like! How does it compare with the streakfly, which I really like?
The Takumi sen are lighter, cheqper and More versatile and the takumia are more natural shoe in terms or ride. But these Puma shoes are wild

if you go 1/2 size up in the puma nitro deviate elite v1, should I do the same for the fast-r (and the v2) ?

i am comfused...those nikes extend the foam many cm out of the heel.... and now these guys at puma cut the foam so much....
Check out the new vaporfly 3, they’ve gone a similar route to this. As have mizuno with the new wave rebellion pro
