    Thank you for this video I am going to stick my first roof sheets on tonight! I was feeling pretty nervous with the procedure but this makes it look simple.

    Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Looking to use some 252 and hadn't respected just how big a difference the sanding & primer make.

    Another great video Mario . Just goes to show you must do all your prep. The primer and a Sika make a very strong bond. As you say Aluminium and steel should not come into contact. This is where Land Rover dropped the ball years a go with Aluminium door skins on a steel frame.

    Great stuff! Thanks.
    What about the painted surface, will it stick just as well? The tests were done on metal and not painted metal….

      Yes it does but you need to make sure you prep accordingly, means sanding the metal before painting and also sanding ( roughing ) the paint before primer applying and at all times dust and grease free surfaces.

    Great video, greetings from Australia , love the toothpick idea..was thinking 3.2mm spacers but now i wont have to buy. Will be installing roof top mount solar to aluminium canopy …so plastic frame onto solid solar . The plastic frame onto prepared and sanded chequer plate alloy …thanks again

    Hallo Oscar, Nice video again. I used this method also on the back of the drivers-cabin and will use it on the habitat also. As you stated: Aluminium on Steel may not have a direct contact with each-other. For the distance between the two materials I took square distance pieces that are used (to keep a constant distance in the edges) when you tile a wall. In fact the function is the same but I don't like any kind of wood in my outer surfaces. Keep on going.....I like to follow you and see you next Friday

      Oh...... and can you please keep us posted about the real quantity you've used from the Sika? It will be helpful when I have to order it too 🙂

    Great video that cleared up a lot of stuff in needed to know, i always appreciate experiments and demonstration. Greetings from Poland
    About to mount 400w solar panels on top of my 1991 Citroen C25 Burstner with aluminium angular profiles, kind of hesitant to trust only glues without any drilling, this video helps me trust such solution more haha!
    If that works well I will have better understanding on how to add split AC unit on the back as well. Vehicle frame sounds like a most reasonable idea, but perhaps supporting it with sikaflex and original bike rack mounts could work instead.

      Yes that Sika stuff is amazing if it is right prepped. Check out this 2min video they pulled with 240kg vertical than the composite panel snapped but the sika glue did not let go ! th-cam.com/video/4DxFRq5BvNk/w-d-xo.html

    Oscar, thanks for the great video! tell me, you will not use rivets in the fastening of aluminum sheets? Or will you fasten the corners of the van with aluminum corners through rivets?

    I want to mount sideskirts on my car using Sikaflex 252. Do i have to primer both sides? (Skirt and car)

    • @oscaroverlander_MB1222AF
      @oscaroverlander_MB1222AF  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi thanks for the question ! To use 252 Sika flex efficient you should prime always both surfaces, just make sure you use the right primer for the material you are going to use.

  • @briandanvers4589

    I tried this and the adhesive ripped the paint off. Lesson; make sure the paint is stuck to a high grade or it will become the weakest layer.

    • @oscaroverlander_MB1222AF
      @oscaroverlander_MB1222AF  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolute right that's why I applied only the primer and sanded before, to make sure the primer doesn't get ripped off.
