Does the monitor mode and watch window go hand in hand? As in, is it possible to watch variables without using the monitor mode?

Really nice gentle introduction, but at 14:10 "I'm going to compile my code and transfer it to the simulator now" ..... but nothing about how that's done!

    s

2- I didn't find any training documentation for B&R automation studio

      Thanks for watching Sofiene!
      1. It will be tough to help troubleshoot without knowing the full details of the system. I would recommend discussing with your B&R representative to work through this.
      2. The Automation Studio Help (installed with AS) is a great resource with several tutorials and sample code. To access the B&R Tutorial Portal, you will need to contact your local B&R representative.

I'm doing an engineering project on Allen Bradley PLC. The problem is right now I don't have the PLC. Can I create the program on B&R automation studio without connecting PLC and later download it for the PLC? If yes please tell me the configuration that I have to set if it matters. Do I have to select the Allen Bradley PLC in catalog section while creating a new project? Or if I go with standard PC, it will work?

      Hi Swaraj -
First off - YES, you absolutely can use Automation Studio in simulation mode. Just one click, and you are running as if the hardware was right there!
However - there isn't a way to program an Allen-Bradley PLC with B&R Automation Studio. You would need to use the appropriate software from Allen-Bradley depending on the controller. Automation Studio only supports PLC programming for hardware from B&R Industrial Automation (e.g., X20 series PLCs).
I hope this helps and good luck with your project!

@@ThisisAutomation one more thing, I'm getting an error when I press the build button
"The project build was done successfully !
The project must be transferred to the target in order for the changes to take effect."
And it won't allow me to Transfer.
It worked smoothly in the afternoon, now I don't know why it's showing me this dialogue box.
(There are 0 errors and 0 warnings in the console.)
      Also to mention:
At the bottom right corner it says "OFFLINE"
But normally it use to say "RUN"(in green color)

It is always tough to help troubleshoot without being able to see what's going on, but I'll give you a couple recommendations.
      1. Open the system tray in the bottom right of your Windows toolbar. You should see an icon for Automation Runtime Simulation (looks like a traffic light). If so, then double-click it and "restart" the simulation. Wait for the simulation to restart and enter "RUN" mode. If the icon is not in your Windows system tray, then simulation may not be activated - see below.
      2. Try to toggle the simulation button (looks like a traffic light) in the top toolbar of Automation Studio. If the button is depressed, then simulation is activated.
      3. If all of that looks correct and simulation is activated. You can try to rebuild the Automation Runtime Simulation files by selecting Project > Project Installation > Offline Installation.
If you're still having trouble, I would recommend reaching out to your local B&R office or support line.

@@ThisisAutomation Thank you so much Sir. I was halfway through your instructuons and suddenly the green RUN came back.
Now I can successfully transfer as well as monitor.
Once again Thanks for the tips.
