Wow - there are some seriously hardcore Mario fans here! Thanks for watching. We did want to make one note, *we make these for all fans of the game and people who have never played the game*.
So while some facts might be obvious to YOU, they are not obvious to someone who has never played. In the future we'll try to skew the facts more towards the super fans, but in the mean time please help us make this a welcoming community to gamers of all stripes.
You forgot one. If you jump on the flag on the timer one one of the digits 2,4,6, or 8 (I think) then you will get that many fireworks
SO MANY NEWS FACTS BRAIN OVERLOAD 💥
+The Leaderboard Fact 22 is false. Mario Bros. is the 1st game to feature Mario as a plumber. My proof is that he's --killing-- defeating sewer creatures and he works around pipes.
I have Gone over
Who are you and will you have my babies?
"Super Mario Bros. was ported to every nintendo console except the N64" "Oh cool!" *Like 50 facts later* "Super Mario Bros. wasn't ported the N64" "YOU ALREADY SAID THAT"
Fact number 108. Super Mario Bros spelled backwards is Sorb Oiram Repus!
really surprised this wasn't included in any of the useless facts here
Louis Martinez She said mario 64 doesn't exist
Fact 22 isn't True because Mario Bros. Arcade was the first game to make Mario a plumber
Agreed. The Shellcreepers (later renamed Koopa Troopas), Sidesteppers (sideways walking lobsters) and their friends came out of pipes. These pipes even 'froze', leaving cold, slippery spots on the floor. If this is ignored because they wanted to treat MB as an arcade game only, they need to look again. It ported to NES. :)
Lobsters, crabs....I'm allergic to all of it. lol
Jim Johnston You said WHAT???
Jim Johnston Keep things linked to the video please
AWeirdRedToad :3 donkey kong is the first
How are you gonna say the warp zones are from Excitebike and not explain why?!?
I thought exactly the same.
MarioSTAR21 Galaxys I see what u did there
they copied the first 11 in the same order from this you can find out here uproxx.com/gammasquad/20-fascinating-facts-you-may-not-know-about-super-mario-bros/3/
@XSADV YEAH
Like ten of these 'facts' are just their ranks on critic lists... I came here to hear about the game, not subjective opinions about the game. Just saying
um... there are a lot of wrong "facts" in this list
+David Spivak Not wrong just lies.
+POVadventure which?
Sigfred Haraldsson
#1 I have a hard time with, it could be true but since it was so early in the nintendo's life i really doubt it. I think a source is needed there...
#8 What the heck does that even mean?
#10 "the minus world is not the game's only secret level"... ok what is another one?
#11 the art is clearly from super mario bro and not donkey kong
#18 the 1 up glitch was glitch. One of the programmers was actually worried he was going to get fired over it when it was found
#22 mario had tons of jobs before being a plumber not just a carpenter. this one is kinda funny because they reference the game mario bro later in #31 and clearly he is not a carpenter there, unless he is building shelves in the sewer.
that isn't even halfway through the video. I don't have time to sit through it all again.
+David
1. Hard to tell. NES was around for 3 or 4 years before Mario Bros came along. The popularity of the game could've extended its original lifespan.
8. They did need more explanation on why for that fact.
10. That one also needs more explanation
11. They showed the Donkey Kong Box art and the Mario sprite looks identical to the Mario Bros box art sprite, just different color schemes.
18. Well Shigeru Miyamoto said in the 25th anniversary of Mario Bros that it was intentionally added... Thats where they got the source for that fact... you can't blame this channel if the creator of the game lied about something on it.
22. I'm pretty sure the focus of that fact was that this is his first time being a plumber. Him having multiple jobs prior to being a plumber doesn't change the fact that this is the game where he first has a plumber role.
+BishopS 11. Hey look at that! I never noticed that before, that isn't the Super Mario Bro. Sprite. Statement retracted18. I wish I could back up my statement with a source but really don't have time to go hunting for it. It maybe a combination of them both stories, that Miyamoto liked the glitch that they left it in. (I still will call it a glitch) And they left the coolest glitch out of the list entirely GETTING FIREBALLS WHEN YOU ARE SMALL!22. The first game where Mario was a plumber was in Mario Bros, not Super Mario Bros. Now they also said that he was a carpenter before, while kinda true is misleading, he had many different jobs. Now I am not saying I hate this video. It did have some interesting points (#11) but many of the facts were vague and yes, at least one that was flat out wrong. My original statement may have been a little harsh and misleading in itself. Thanks for the mental floss!
Geez, scraping the bottom of the barrel for a lot of these "facts" aren't you?
NorthernDragon 10 of them are reviews
“The thing at the end of the bridge is an axe.”
oH rEaLlY? i tHoUgHt iT wAs a pOnY.

107 facts of Nintendo that you should know
+RGkong 214, that company is over 100 years old
OH YAASS PLEASE
Nintendo first started as a playing card company.
+MistaLOD and It became a toy company
+RGkong They used to have adult stuff
"Super Mario bros is actually a 2-player game!" *YOU DON'T SAY*
It's a fact I guess lol
A lot of these "facts" are "no duh" to say the least
They pointed out that the thing at the end of the bridge is an axe and said the game wasn’t on N64 TWICE.
Super Mario Bros. was the first game where Mario was a plumber?
So, we're just going to pretend Mario Bros. didn't exist?
GabeN -BACK!- Just stop it, and GET AWAY FROM THE COM-
*Explotion*
Oh fiddlesticks, what now?
SMB 1 isnt the first game?
SHAUN SCOTLAND No, Mario made many appearances before Super Mario Bros.
@@shaunscotland8099 no, i think donkey kong arcade is
@@melee_fox4954 He's a carpenter or circus trainer there, depending on who you ask.
so people think the 1up mushroom was a bug?
no! duh!
+Ne0MT the picture is misleading: i'm fairly sure she's talking about the "jump infinately on a Koopa Shell" trick
"But that is an extra life, not a power up."
2 seconds later
"It takes 100 coins to get a *power up*"
i actually jumped over the flag accidentally and i continue to move toward there is no
enimes and you can never came and never complete the level. you can only run and run before time up. believe or not but it is true. you can try it
How was SMB1 supposed to be the Swan Song to the NES system when it was one of the first games that came out for it? It was bundled with the system when it released in the U.S. I could see how Mario 3 might have been, because it was released much much later in the system's life.
Fred Gaudreault Actually the NES came out in US after the NES (Or FAMICOM) in Japan which by that time in Japan already had over a thousand games released so in Japan SMB was one of the last games in Japan but one of the first in the US and EU
I don't think the NES even had a thousand games in its total lifespan, unless you count pirate/bootleg.games maybe. The famicom was only out for two years or so in Japan before it came to the US as the NES. Comparatively, games were still being made for the NES up to the early/mid 90s
Famicom came out in 83, SMB came out in 85 and the Famicom was discontinued in 2003. Seeing as Nintendo made games well into the 90s for the Famicom, Super Mario Bros was far from a Swan Song in any region. Glad you know about as much about Nintendo as the girl / whoever wrote this script does...
It was actually the last game designed for the Famicom, as the famicom disk system was supposed to take over. Goes to show how well they researched this video
11:41 Her acting kind of fell apart at the end of this fact.
A major fact that I think you missed was the what we got the Super Mario Brothers 2 that we did.
It was deemed it would be too hard for the western world so they did a sprite swop with Doku Doku Panic and released that instead. The Lost Level's was the Super Mario Brothers 2 we should have got.
To add to fact 103, Nintendo implemented Raccoon Leaf, Frog Suit, Tanooki Suit, and Hammer Bros. Suit in Super Mario Bros. 3 to make up for the technical limitations. Also, Yoshi proved to be immensely popular to the point of inciting a prequel, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which focused on the Yoshi species. The creation of Yoshi was inspired by Excitebike and Devil World (specifically Tamagon).
256 kilobit cartridge? As in 32 bytes? As in less information than this comment I'm typing?
Stan D. Yee
256 Kilobits = 32 Kilobytes, as in roughly 32000 individual ASCII characters or 8000 Unicode characters (I think... not sure on that one). Either way. that would be one hell of a long comment.
107 Facts About Gmod?
+Matteo Anglo YES.
Yes
+Matteo Anglo no!
YESH
+Matteo Anglo HELL YEAH
I was hoping to hear you mention that Mario was based off Popeye D:
Originally, Miyamoto wanted to create a video game that used the characters Popeye, Bluto, and Olive Oyl.[4] At the time, however, Miyamoto was unable to acquire a license to use the characters (and would not until 1982), so he ended up making Jumpman (later known as Mario), Donkey Kong, and Pauline.
Mario is not about to die on the cover. Miyamoto confirmed.
107 Pokémon Facts 😎
Yes
plz yes😊😊😊😊😊
YES LIKE THIS SO THEY CAN SEE ITA
yes!!!!
Yup.
5:21 simplest fact ever...
The fact is a lie. Mario Bro’s was the first.
"There is a 1 up mushroom in level one but that doesn't count as a power up"
*next fact
"This power up can be obtained by getting 100 coins"
Did you know that there is a glitch in Super Mario Bros where if you get hit (with a mushroom) while grabbing the axe after beating browser, you can grab a fire flower in the next level making you Mini Fire Mario. It was a non-popular glitch, but in NES Remix, the glitch is dedicated with its own level.
107 facts you should know about portal, 107 facts you should know about little big planet
+Jason Hoxtell Both awesome suggestions!
The Leaderboard yay!, and gmod!, and spyro and crash bandicoot!, do you like my suggestions?, and I feel so happy right now!, and didn't know that I would get noticed!
The Leaderboard I hope that my suggestions become real videos
Fact 108: Once Mario gets to 100 lives, he loses his cap
He does? JK
Well, I only know about the one in 3D Land.
When you have 3 crowns (5000-7000) you lose your cap, same for Luigi.
+Digital Slicer Fact 110: If you get the skinny mushroom you will have a chance of turning into Mary'O in Mario Maker.
+Jaylybaby If you pick up 3 mushrooms in 1 level and fall to a pit you lose one life!!!!!
I love the 107 facts series because things you didn't know about these games, you learn and can try out
Ehh... You got a few details wrong.
#53 -- Vs. Super Mario Bros. - the arcade one - is moreso a mix of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. (At the time, the latter was still known as Super Mario Bros. 2, but was only in Japan on the Family Computer Disk System. Our own Super Mario Bros. 2 outside of Japan was something else entirely.) Some Vs. SMB levels are from SMB1, and others from SMB2j, and none are unique. The one's I remember off the top of my head are 1-1 being from SMB1, and 8-4 being from SMB2j/Lost Levels. There were minor alterations to various levels, though, yes.
#54 -- Going off this, the "harder stages" you mention were made available in the aforementioned Japanese SMB2 ("Lost Levels"). You showed the box shot for the international SMB2, the one that was a rip-off of Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic (a Japanese Family Computer Disk System game) and known as Super Mario USA in Japan. =/
#55 -- And that's where you get the 1985/1986 error. Super Mario USA (America's SMB2) and Super Mario Bros. 2 (America's Lost Levels) got released at different times. Granted, it would be a helluva lot easier if databases referred to the Japanese SMB2 as Lost Levels, but they really shouldn't since, unlike SMB1 or Super Mario USA/America's SMB2, it was never separate from other Mario games, as in All-Stars, except for Virtual Console versions that still market it as Lost Levels.
#58 -- You got a detail wrong when saying it was a "NES" compilation. Again, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels was only released on the Famicom Disk System, and I believe Nintendo even based their Super Mario Bros. version from the Famicom Disk System version of it. The Famicom Disk System is an add-on to the Japanese NES (Famicom), so it's really a separate console. You also repeatedly show screenshots and other info that hint at Super Mario World being included in it, which is not a NES title. (Yes, I know it was included on *some* All-Stars variants. Not all.)
... also, seriously, try to have someone recheck these lists before you make videos. You repeated the same facts several times. >_>
Number 12 was proven wrong literally yesterday.
+videogamelover121 I missed that :( so sorry
Yayyyyyy................... Everything we already know..............
Just keep eating shrooms and going through pipes. If you don't understand the reference become older.
Fabian Liriano I don't know if this is supposed to be ironic or not. Never the less, I definitely question Nintendo's decisions on how Mario works a lot more. :P
Number 1 is misleading, as it was in the Uproxx article the first 20 facts are taken from. It was meant to be the last cartridge game for the Famicom. The NES only existed outside of Japan and Super Mario Bros was a launch game in the US.
HEY! Fact 98 was a repeated fact!
omg it is
+Serrahnade Burdetter Which?
+Sigfred Haraldsson
6.05 Fact 38: The success of Super Mario Bros. has caused it to be ported to almost every single console in the Nintendo lineup except Nintendo 64
20:14 Fact 98: Nintendo never released Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo 64
I DEMAND A NEW FACT, we were only given 106!!
+TheOtakuX 107 if you count the bonus fact at #6
+Nacho Overlord well she said super mario bros. is the first in the super mario series at 5:21 as fact n'33 so I demand another one
Glad you did this. Awesome!
+Mairusu Paua Thank you!
Holy crap, they released the mario brothers where I live on my birthday :0
108: Bowser was originally supposed to be a bull, but the game designers thought the character design was a dragon/turtle, and made him as such in the game.
NEXT TIME MORE GAME AND LESS FACE
GabeN -BACK!- Just stop it, and GET AWAY FROM THE COM-
*Explotion*
Oh fiddlesticks, what now?
107 fact of Zelda that you should know
+Christopher Jones DEFINETLY.
+Christopher Jones For sure!
Awesome thx for responding
2:08 That's what she said! XD
1:46 "The sprite on the cover is actually from Donkey Kong."
Ummmmm... WHAT??? No it isn't. It's clearly the Super Mario sprite from the game. It's actually the Donkey Kong cover that has the Super Mario sprite. They do the same thing for the Mario Bros. black box as well.
Also, why is there an annotation for Mario's death on the cover based on what Miyamoto says? Miyamoto had nothing to do with the North American box art. The meme that Mario's about to die is based on someone finding the exact spot in the game that pit exists, and he does appear to be falling to his death.
Here’s some facts for Mario
In donkey Kong game Mario wasn’t named Mario he was named jumpman back in the day to save his girlfriend Pauline from a crazed ape the reason why he named jumpman because he liked to jump so many times and that’s the reason why cuz mushrooms makes him jump higher and the weird mushroom from super Mario maker that makes Mario skinny and also performs a super high jump even higher than a mushroom which means he has a ability to jump high and also means Mario is still jumpman
When Mario was named jumpman in donkey Kong are both similiar character and jumpman was Mario’s old name
Mario’s very first debut was in donkey Kong 1981
2 years later on 1983 they released a short game called Mario bros featured his brother Luigi in and he’s not called jumpman anymore he’s now named Mario instead before 2 years later again they released full Mario game in 1985 called super Mario brothers
Jumpman the brave Carpenter now turned into Mario the plumber man
Mario is similiar to Sonic cuz they have similiar colors red and blue and they both have white gloves
Mario as a jumpman with his girlfriend Pauline and his arch enemies donkey Kong after 4 years later now Mario spent his days in mushroom with his girlfriend princess peach and his arch nemesis bowser
Bowser is similiar to donkey Kong cuz they both kidnaps Mario’s girlfriend
Mario is 24 years old (no celebrating Mario’s birthday)
Mario games are 36 years old
Speaking of Mario’s age
All Mario characters have ages
Mario: 24
Luigi: 26
Wario: 24
Waluigi: 26
Toad: 25
Toadette: 17
Yoshi: 14
Princess peach: 34
Princess daisy: 29
Rosalina: 32
Bowser: 52
Bowser jr: 5
Donkey Kong: 25

107 facts about the Hershey's company
+Josh Walker (Like if you agree and love chocolate!!!)
They only do vids about video games and cartoons
Oh,thanks for telling me :)
Super Mario Bros. WAS NOT the first game to show Mario as a plumber, that would be the old arcade game Mario Bros. (not super), it was also the first game to introduce Luigi.
Artificial Orange Studios it was also the first Mario game...... yeah.
1987, when have I heard that year before...
I love these 107 Facts videos. I'd really love to see one about CardCaptor Sakura!

YES BRING THIS COMMENT TO THE TOP
I got some facts you didn't mention: 108, in SM3DL, if you hit a koopa shell with the tanooki suit 5 times without letting it touch the ground, it'll break into a 1-UP mushroom. 109, there's a creepypasta in the original SMB that said that toads were casted by a spell that turned them into blocks and plants. You know what means? You're killing innocent toads by breaking the blocks! And 110, if you didn't notice, Mario/Luigi both jump like Sonic when they grab a starman. That can be found in either SM3DL or SM3DW.
I remember being a 4-year old and noticing a crown placed in lieu of Mario's lives. I can't remember if you needed 10, but I'm curious as to how you managed to get it. Everyone thought I was crazy about mentioning a crown on Super Mario Bros. but I knew for a fact I saw it plain as day. How the hell do you get the freakin' crown to appear?! lol
It happens when you get 10 lives so 11 is 👑1 and and is 👑2. So I guess 20 would be 👑👑
108: If you read the letters that have stars on them in the Super Mario Galaxy cover, it says "ur ms gay"
why did he do that
*mr
Oh yeah sorry
It's true, just tried it out!
Some of them aren't even facts so how many facts are there so I could figure out the true name of 100 facts
"There are 8 worlds in the Super Mario Bros"
HOLY CRAP! I NEVER KNEW THAT!!!!!!!!!
“The thing at the end of the bridge there is an axe.”
Wow, I thought it was a dragon!
you guys made a good list usually they would be something like "Mario actualy has a brother" Marios brothers name is luigi" you can play as him in different games"
Pokémon plsssssssss!!!!!!!!
+Travis Dinh When you ask so nicely! :)
Hooray! A reply!
Pokemon pretty plz with a cherry on top
Pokemon
6:07 Nope its on every home console system Except the Nintendo 64 and the gamecube. although it is possible to play the gameboy colour verison [super mario bros deluxe] or the gba classic verison using the gameboy player attachment. but that is playing though gameboy hardware and isn't actually a gamecube port of the game. as a gamecube port. dosen't excist. same with the nintendo 64
She said almost and that means not all. So you can't say they're wrong.
I've always wanted to beat Super Mario Bros by getting through every level.
his first game as a plunber was not this it was his mario bros arcade game
No one cares how the game was ranked! Those facts were useless!
+Marioman303 well the title didn't say 107 relevant facts. Useless or not they were still facts.
I've jumped over the flagpole
Cappygaming show me a video then I’ll believe you
3:59 the picture u used was just so smart XD
* Italian accent * Grazie, Mario, for-a reviving-a the video game industry!
1:17 cringe
12 IS WROOOOOOOOOONG sorry I had to point it out ._.😋
LetsGame bruhhh....The creator said he survived.......
LetsGame its ok :D
Fact number 29 was not realy a fact it was just a spoiler to people like me who haven't seen the video
They're always wrong XD
+Luis Garcia agreed
I don't think basic statistics of the game, game reviews, saying "guys go look at the original SMB manual it's creepy", and repeating yourself count as facts. You should probably rename this video to "about 15 good facts and a bunch of random filler"
1:25
Also, see 'Super Boy'.
lol I had the red Wii as a kid
The8-BitNerd if you had it as a kid, you must still be a kid
Haha 88: 1-up is an extra life not a power up. 89: 100 coins to get a power up . . . I sense something off here. Proof reading is your friend! I promise. Also was this woman like tired or have to pee or something? She seems to be talking very odd.
It technically was ported to Nintendo 64. In the original version of Animal Crossing, Animal Forest, it was originally a Nintendo 64 game, and one of the staples of the first Animal Crossing (Animal Forest) is that you could play retro NES games, and Super Mario Bros was one of them
great video.... so how does one get a copy of super special mario bros (think yall said it was on the n.e.c. console ) any info would be greatly appreciated
Mario Maker is awesome
The leaderboard subscribe to me
Also 107 facts about destiny
Or 107 Pokemon
They better mention the cloud and bush.
Oh good they did
+Derikimi and this is why you don't comment before watching videos.
+TheSoggyCheezBurger
because why?
I didn't say "They didn't even mention the cloud and bush"
+Derikimi but if you had watched the vid, you wouldn't have to comment that.
You guys DO NOT understand what she is trying to say WHATSOEVER.
Stupids.
#???: In the original Mario Bros. game for the NES, you could hold A+Start in the menu, after dying, to start where you were when you died. With FULL LIVES. This can also be done in certain ports of the game, such as the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS systems.
7:55 that's my background for my tablet
knew all these.
this girl is making me cringe.
I can't unsee the mushroom retainer flipping everyone off.
I can jump over the flag pole... it took me at least one million tries...
Too many ranks! Please don't repeat ranking and scores for the game and give out more facts!
I normally like these 107 facts videos, but this one really falls through. The person giving the facts sounds bored and the facts themselves aren't really interesting. Seriously, Watchmojo putting the World -1 at number 1 on their top 10 glitches? Why is that even on here, did you run out of facts at that point? Watchmojo put Mario at number 1 on some other lists, what makes that one so special?
At #71, I was like "Nobody is ever supposed to talk about that film. That film never existed."
For jumping over the flagpole, you can alternatively jump off a Goomba, clip into the floor and get under the flagpole which is much easier
I have the red wii........anyone buting it?
*buying
+17172 18881 Please, no Wii buting.
+17172 18881 Me too. Are our red Wiis worth any more money than the standard ones?
Flies have been weeing on your Wii.
I have a red wii
Some of those facts are just lazy.
I know right
Luis Garcia
Next time, they should try harder instead of lazy facts like,"Bowser's fireballs are backwards."
Fact #108:
Camera with a proper focus is a must nowadays.
The 1-up glitch wasn't a feature intentionally put in the game but an exploit to how 1-ups and shells work
i think most of these facts are fake seeing as super mario bros came out way before zelda and kung fu came out years before
these facts sucks
eyja fjalajokull make a better one then
102 & 103 I noticed while playing it.
To jump over a flag...
You had to do something with a yoshi, then follow it up to the flag. Continue. You'll find you've jumped over the flag.
Unfortunately, there's only nothing but lots and lots of ground.
I used to have the one with Duck Hunt and World Track Meet. Haven't seen a copy of it since....
super coin crew should be pissed when they see this
This should be knowledge every gamer has
When I use to have this game I remember Jumping over the flag. But I didn't always manage to do it every time
Fascinating! As a lifer (still have my original NES from the 1900's) I learned some fun facts!
