This is one that I wanted to hear on the reunion tour.
Tea In The Sahara and Shadows In The Rain would have left acres of canvas space in which Andy Summers could paint towering astral clouds climbing into some undiscovered celestial atmosphere...

One of the best versions, very ominous beginning.

Takes me back to my childhood. I used to listen to this on my dad's hifi at night with a set of headphones plugged in. I'd just escape in my own world. Sounds stupid but I get really emotional listening to this song.

Doesn't sound stupid at all. It's a really moving song. R.I.P. your dad.

This is probably the best they played all tour throughout 83/84, I mean they seldom had a bad show from what I've ever seen but this Oakland gig really is awesome

Aunque la versión de Montreal Le Spectrum es buenísima también, posiblemente mejor que esta

This song is soo mysterious and omninous ...until it reaches the chorus ...then it is uplifting..to a point..hmmmm wonder what it is about?!! Stings Aleister Crowley period?

    • @jasonlefler3456

It’s based on a book that Andy gave Sting called The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles.

@@jasonlefler3456 Interesting...I looked up the COles notes version of that book. Sad story. Kinda like a twisted version of Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. I think there is still more meaning in the song. Will have to do some more research. Maybe one day I will get to meet Sting and ask him about it!!!! Synchronicity was such a great album. What more could they have come up with?

      @@jamesbond4633 Right?
I really think that Sting was right to end it after Synchronicity.
They’d reached their goals many times over.
The Police were an absolutely amazing moment in time.
As much as I love many groups that keep going beyond their time in the spotlight,
or what some might say is past their sell-by date,
The Police experience was of its time,
      not to be needlessly elongated.
