He played with this line up also in 1995-96. However , they had a horn section on those gigs that, in my opinion, didn't lend it's self to the kind of creative space sculpturing going on here.
This was the sweet spot of Sting's solo career. Great to see Vinnie go to work on this. A masterclass in tasteful drumming ideas in there! I forget the timeline but this is the same band that did his Soul Cages tour and they were legendary. Thanks for uploading this I loved it.
it was the specific task from Sting to Vinnie to play live a "bit more" than sometimes the song asked for. But on Ten summoner 's tales for example Sting asked him to play different patterns without losing 'the feel' of the groove. anyway: Vinnie is - in any song- always a treat!! thnx for the upload!
5:29 - Best live version of Walking On The Moon I've heard yet. Vinnie takes Copeland's drums and bounces it up to level 11. Quite the turnout in Chile. 👏
Vinnie's level is matchless and unique. Other sting's drummers already cant play at this level. Because of that they are playing ordinary or basic..my opinion. But true. 😎🙋♂️🥁sorry for my english
Vinnie is so incredible
Killer combination of musicians! Love that! Maybe this is one of the best bands ever...
Everyone came to see Vinnie and got to Sting backing him!
I can listen to this for 1000 yrs listen to it over again 🐬
Nice to see Kenny Kirkland in this lineup.

Vinnie gold. Thanks
Class, musicality, creativity
Yo estuve ahí.....Adelante, cerca del escenario....Noche única...Sting, Colaiuta, Peter Gabriel, Sinead o´Connor, Rubén Blades....

3/4 of the Soul Cages band. This one has the great Kenny Kirkland on keys while David Sancious was on the Soul Cages tour. Cheers!
@@JoEsp vinnie also didnt played on the soul cages album, he was on the next (10 summoner's tales)
@@seekyou yes, manu katché played on that album but vinnie played on the tour promoting the album.
Not a master class, I'm afraid. It is a good performance but that is all. Stewart Copeland did a much better version.
@@JoEsp Ahh right you are. I stand corrected sir

that Yamaha Maple custom sounds incredible, those toms are great
Glad you like them!
Its those deep 10x10 and 12x10s…
Absolute MASTERPIECE by one of the Godz - Vinnie
Thank You! Thank you! That's the Vinnie I love to watch and listen to.
Sooo amazing to see how intense can be the performance from Vinnie... thank´s for this archive!
Thanks!
Vinnie Colaiuta PERFECT
Kenny!!!

Great vid thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Walking on the moon 😁🌙
Fair play to vinnie ,proving that Copelands less is more
Less is "Stewart you have to study more". Vinnie proves it.
Every concert of Sting in that era, was actually one long solo of Vinnie, like Pastorius did with Weather Report🤣
Starring Vinnie Colaiuta as Vinnie Colaiuta.
Vinnie was so hot that night, melted drumsticks as well
Ok - of COURSE Vinnie is killing it, but we also gotta cut some slack for Sting - assimilating to Vinnie & being INCREDIBLE
❤

What the heck is Sting doing?

Adjusting his false teeth.
A nice stick twirl around 1:57.
Is this concert available in BluRay or DVD ?
There’s a dvd of this. Downloaded this on torrent long ago. It’s from Amnesty International concert w/ Peter Gabriel, Sinead O’Connor etc.
the other guys plays nice too ha ha, sounds really good
POOKIE!
Honestly the version on Bring On The Night is unbeatable
2021
"Slow down Vinnie" at 2:13 ?
For sure. He was like ‘chill chill’
Vinnie is good.
But Stewart is the man!
VINNIE "IS" God....
Con i Police è un'altra cosa manca Stewart Copeland e Andy
Vinnie Colaiuta é un'altro livello
Preferred Omar's take on this particular song. I doubt Vinnie would do so many heavy fills these days.
Agree about Omar
Some might want to kill me here but I prefer Omar’s feel, to me he is greasier and I prefer that.
@@Monsterdrumma I felt the same way when John Scofield went from Omar to Dennis Chambers. The feel and musicality on Still Warm is superb.
Love Vin sorry Stew played it better just no substitute 🤟🥁🤟

As of 3/24/21, 4 Ringo worshippers disliked this video.
Many drummers who love Vinnie love Ringo. Even Vinnie loves Ringo.
@@Gretchluver1 You're funny. Do you actually think your retort makes my previous statement untrue?
Vinnie sits very low on the drums
Too bad Stings career didn’t go anywhere….
😂
Better to have patched things up with Stewart Copeland than turn to the KING of soulless chops-meisters.
Is that your take on Vinnie?
For forty years or so, the list of world renowned musicians and song writers who like that "soulless" sound has been fairly . . . large.
Become a drummer and or a musician first , until then you are stuck with soulless thoughts it's as simple as that
😳😆. Vinnie!!!!
Vinnie is the most recorded & successful drummer in history. Multi Millionaire
