LMAO! I live in a secured apt complex and have to take my bike through the secured lobby, the lower hallways, the elevator and then the hallways on my floor all the while my Torches are singing LOUD that a badass Specialized Epic with i9 Torches is coming through! Love it!
Still what does 101 sound like on a wheel. Nobody’s brought it out and it’s crazy since it’s a new hub and might be louder because less engagements maybe
Hi, I recently got a bike with these hubs. I understand they are known to be loud - makes no difference to me. I had the shop service it and for the first ride it was quiet. For the second ride, it was loud. Maybe they used oil instead of grease? After servicing with grease or even oil, how long should the hub remain quiet? Lastly, is there a way to make them permanently quiet or at least less noisy? Thanks!!
Yo! The Hydras man. Already seen 3 broken Hydras on my local rocky climb trails. They are good engagement point wise, but definitely not as strong due super small teeth. Is the sound and super small swing arc really worth the strength? Not to me, but to each their own. I think the 101's are your best, especially up technical climbs. Maybe even the torch or legacy hubs.
Love the Hydra. My only problem is that the recommended oil is not available on the European continent. Will any super thin hub oil do or can you recommend a brand that´s available in the EU`?
Splendid! All state of the art hub design particulars aside, the Pavlovian drool and eyeroll effects experienced when hearing, by my command, what amounts to a large, loud angry swarm of metallic nano- insects in a strong headwind (so pissed off ones) are alone worth the price of admission. A suggestion: Would it be possible to combine a musical windup carillon mechanism that would play Wagner's Flight of Die Walküre in accompaniment? Imagine the magnificence!
I'm about to buy a Hydra hubset and I was wonderng if I could use another type of grease than the Dumonde Tech Grease. What will happen if I use something like the DT Swiss special grease or some standard freehub light grease?
I'm going to order 3.4 ENVE AR wheels next year. Per their website, they use the Classic Torch ones. Is that still the case or I9 provides the Hydra now to ENVEs? Hope you see this comment
It only took shy of three months. They are nice wheels but you can get a nice set of mavic elites for a couple hundred less and just as nice honestly. I have both and wouldn’t wait and spend the money for these again. Although like I said these are super nice
Ich würde mir gern die industry nine Hydra holen. Aber die ist halt so teuer im Laufradsatz. Als kompletter Laufradsatz mit Vorder und Hinterrad kostet die 1500 €
Howdy industry 9 ....pls make sure the lil girls packing the wheels into the boxes are correctly labeled . Boxes labeled 29 have 27.5 wheel in them and vice versa..creating havoc
If you get the chance, try and listen to them at speed going down a mountain. The higher pitch of Hydra yields surprising results when you're spinning it faster :)
I got the Hydra and have made two videos recently comparing the sound in the work stand with the sound on the trail. Have a look and hear what it sounds like. It's pretty loud on the trail but under wind noise, you barely hear it.
I don’t understand why you’d want a super loud hub, simple physics show the louder it is the less efficient it becomes. Why not go the whole hog and have it heat up loads too, lose even more efficiency?!?!?
Can you please upload a video counting each point of engagement? Preferably using a Vampire accent.
LMAO off. That vid would take a while.
Hmmmmm... 😈
Just died
juan point of engagement ah ah ah
Lol!
i love the loud clicking sound and it gives pedestrians a heads up.
Heads up or heads off!
Yeah I keep mine loud there’s always for some reason people walking dogs up double diamond downhill sections with obvious jumps. Idk why they do this
Always answering the important questions, thanks i9!
We try! ;)
You succeed!
My wife caught me watching this vid again, and she was like staring at me for 2 solid minutes. Im wondering whats on her mind?
Ok
😂😂😂
They will never understand
Louder the better 🙌🏻
Oh my, not for me! Hahaha!
To be honest I like the initial oiled sound by Hydra sounds like a cool small engine in the rear wheel ! .... yummmmmm!!!
Zoooom! They sound pretty crazy once they get rotating 🐍
I’m super stoked to get my wheel set!!
sold, take my money!!
Torch: 0:30
Hydra oil: 0:45
Hydra Grease: 2:00
Hail Hydra ✊🏼
Captain America vibes
Why would you want to make it quieter? Thats the beauty of i9
Other than the sound, which is better for reliability between oil and grease?
Is it ok to just use oil so it’s always loud??? I like it loud

how long will that quiet sound last?
Please do a sound check on the 101!
We'll have a video showcasing what a 101 wheelset sounds like come springtime when we have complete wheels to sell ;)
just got my i9 101 very happy

The Hydra sounds like old time 2 strokes bikes!

Is it possible to run Hydra on a road bike, like the sound better ;)

Got the dumonde tech oil for my i9 torch.cant wait to put it on

So, if I wanted to run it loud I would simply degrease and apply oil? Are there any ramifications (e.g. compromised longevity) in doing this?
yes, they would be freaking loud and super annoying.
I am wondering the same thing, any comment I9?
More frequent maintenance required...
Gosh that Hydra hub sounds good BOTH ways. 🤣
why would I want a quiet hub when I can have a bike that sounds like a jet taking off
Team torch use this button to show some respect ✊
How often would you need to apply the grease if you wanted the quieter sound ?
Probably whenever it starts to get louder than you want it?
Went to your website build a wheel with torch hub, but there are no options for the torch. Is that still available, manufactured?
Did u have promote ur produk in malaysia..? Tq
Can the Torch fit on a X Caliber 2021? 👀👌😎
Can you order the wheel with oil only?
Yes just ordered mine ALAP, AS LOUD AS POSSIBLE LOL
Good pm guys may I know the real price of the industry nine hydra in the market
been waiting for the hydra to restock in my country... its been 5 months :(
I'm about to buy a Hydra hubset and I was wonderng if I could use another type of grease than the Dumonde Tech Grease. What will happen if I use something like the DT Swiss special grease or some standard freehub light grease?

What oil is he using? I want to buy
Loud hubs save lives
Unless you’re deaf
When Acros Nineteen vs ???
How tf oil /grease changes the sound? Also performance-wise which is better to use
grease will make it quieter, but will have more drag. Performance wise, oil will roll the fastest and sound the steeziest!

This hub would be fun to put on my grandma's ebike 😂
Can I run my hydra bone dry?
I ordered i9 wheels over two months ago (going on 10 weeks) I don't think I'm ever going to see them haha
How did it turn out
@@sim0n2k38 finally got em
Damn u fast
Also glad to hear

How can you tell them apart by looking at them? I'm not sure which one is on mine. I do have a 12mm axle if that's an indicator.

FILIPINOS will definitely go for the Torch hub, cause here in Philippines the louder the hub is the better, itll make you look rich.
The same reason that Americans with small peepees like loud hubs.
I wish y'all would make XC stems! 31.8 clamp 6* 80mm and red to match my Torch hubs please!
I like the sound of torch.
Low sound for me, can ride into dark without drawing attention and helps if need to escape.

No the sound is what I like!
Bless your heart, little man.
What spoke are on left wheel? Looks good.
@Industry Nine: Can you add grease to the Hydra to quiet it down? And if so, what grease?
RACINGMIX pro x grease
Did you watch the video
Ich würde mir gern die industry nine Hydra holen. Aber die ist halt so teuer im Laufradsatz. Als kompletter Laufradsatz mit Vorder und Hinterrad kostet die 1500 €

If only the hubs produced the squeaky sound when you fast forward the video. Hahaha.
If you run a hub dry what happens?
it will wear out

hey does anyone know what kind of grease gun is he using ?
Bacon grease
@@Benri05 Sounds delicious.
Does anyone know what kind of valve caps he is using?
Could you do this video again using bart Simpsons mega megaphone
what Torch is this??
really love the loud sound!

"Send in the Hydra"
So the hydra is fast engaging it sounds like it but just checking
yes - fastest engagement hub on the market.
Where do the rainbow spokes come from?
0:31 Torch
0:44 Hydra
For an easy comparison
Does Hydra has no sealing at the freehub?
It has the same seal as Torch, it's a contact face seal.
I was hoping it would be louder than the torch. Maybe now the torch will be a little cheaper. If I want silent I would go for a sprag.
If you get the chance, try and listen to them at speed going down a mountain. The higher pitch of Hydra yields surprising results when you're spinning it faster :)
@@industrynine3931 You guys should make a sprag option to be sold as an alternate free wheel body. Then you can sell infinite points of engagement.
Maybe cheaper but while you can... No more Torch, only Hydra!!! The 101 hub may sound a bit like the torch!
I got the Hydra and have made two videos recently comparing the sound in the work stand with the sound on the trail. Have a look and hear what it sounds like. It's pretty loud on the trail but under wind noise, you barely hear it.
Nice quiet drive mech nah I only want it for the noise
Why would you ever want to quiet down the beautiful sound that is i9 hydra hub
Most of us have regular-sized masculinity; no need to compensate.
@@gatoryak7332 People who make comments like this must be in the process of transitioning. Best of luck!
Can a noisy hub make me fast?
Yes just like new shoes 👟
