- Living in north Sweden means you have extreme long winters, this year it will end up being about 7 months with snow covering the ground. And that's hard, especially when not having a shower and only an outhouse!
But it can also be extremely beautiful and fun! Follow me in my daily life of winter, while I ski, take a swim in the cold river and walk on thin ice! And of course, lots of new snow fell during all of this!

Hi Daniel. SNOW !! Here in Montreal, all the snow had melted, and it was warm for days, and we had the windows open and turned off all the heat. Then on the 3rd of April we got a snow storm, of all things. And Mother nature dropped 20cm of snow on us. It snowed for two days. Now the snow is melting again. We go into a week of mid teens tomorrow for the eclipse and sunny and 15c. And soon we will all get to witness the "Dance of the Swedish Spring Fairy," dance through the trees he he he he he won't that be grand. YAY !! You made it.

We have had the wettest start to the year here in the U.K. I can ever remember. It has rained non stop since the middle of December and more rain forecast every day this week. The ground is saturated. Would I prefer 7 months of snow though? I’m not so sure, as beautiful as it is. I think we are all wishing for Spring and warmer days to arrive. I love your videos Daniel. It’s so comforting to me that you’ve had a ‘proper’ winter because here in England we’ve had the rainiest eighteen months since records began. There’s no sign of an improvement yet either! Your relationship with your parents is so lovely to see and one that I’m sure a lot of us envy xxx
Wow, I hope the rain stops soon! But I have to be honest, I'm a little bit worried that the cold winter here might be a sign of what to come, if the Gulf stream gets weakened due to climate change... 😳
@@DanielErik It seems that no one can predict what’s going to happen. Apparently the rain has been caused by the very high ocean temperatures last year and they were unexpected. Also I’m not sure whether these temperatures are a permanent thing and if so, whether we will have almost permanent rain! I think the farmers are worried because there’s surface water on a lot of the fields. Sorry for the doom and gloom!! Let’s try to be positive🙂

I grew up in Montreal, which is not as far north as northern Sweden but the winters can be savage. I moved to Toronto - which certainly is milder but not an excuse for pretending that you are really, actually living in LA. I've lived around the world and I will say that I had a hard time with the shortness of days in and around the equator. Night falls at 6:00 pm, end of story. In the subtropical areas I lived in months of rain were tiresome too, much less hurricanes. As a result, now living on Prince Edward Island back in Canada, nothing is more beautiful than our long summer twilights. And I believe that people who are successfully 'cold adapted' can see the beauty in the northern winters. I do. I had colleagues in Moscow who told me their favourite season is winter. And I remember winter evenings in Montreal, Kiev, Minneapolis, Krasnoyarsk, Québec and many other northern cities where crowds of people move about in the city centres, cafés blaze with light, apartment building are lit up like beacons and it just glitters, diamond-bright... the colder it gets.
Winter is my favorite season for sure. And I absolutely agree with you on the long nights in winter and long days in summer. It is a magical thing. People think I am nuts for loving the cold but my body just LOVES it. Of course still love the warm days too! A fellow Winter Enjoyer.
Spring will come in June. What are you talking about? You have to get used to it. We live like this in Kamchatka, we are used to it, we do not complain😊

Daniel I understand the challenge of living in a very cold climate without indoor plumbing. Trudging through the cold and snow to do the business is challenging. I lived seven years like this.

Winter can be full of hardships in Scandinavia. Once the days get longer, it becomes easier by the day, and the subtle signs of spring bring so much joy with them✨️

Spring never felt as good as it did when I lived in Norway. I gained a real appreciation for it then that I hope to carry for the rest of my life. Hey Daniel! This was a wonderful, easy going video I loved watching while having my breakfast 😄 I totally understand your feelings about the fake spring and I'm very afraid of this time of the year too. We will move there in 1 month and we're leaving the winter tires on our car, even though we already had 27°C here in Germany 🥵 But what I most look forward is actually the long winter! I'm super allergic to pollen and spring is trying to kill me every year since 10 years now 🤧😅 So 7 months of winter sound like heaven to me 😅 And one thing about the embarrassment when people might see you when you're filming ... I understand this feeling but I can assure you (at least here in Berlin) nobody really cares 😂 I've been filming and talking infront of the camera while people were walking around ... they just don't care. 😅 And one last tip for the bath in the cold water: maybe try to use Neopren Socks and Gloves. This should help a lot so you can get in easier, safer and stay in longer 🥰
