    Nicely done! I'm a 61 year old Grandmother who does stuff like this on my own on my mobile home. I always appreciate when someone takes the time to make a video like this one.
    Keeps me from making costly errors. THANKS!

    Yep. Anything but vinyl. Vinyl skirting is a waste of money, unless you like seeing holes from rocks shot out from the mower, gashes from the weed eater, cracks from cold weather.
    Metal is the best I reckon, but be prepared to spend a lil extra.
    I redid my vinyl skirting with galvanized roofing metal. I threw away all of that plastic that held the top of the vinyl skirting, did away with the plastic track at the bottom. I used treated 2x4 lumber to make framework, and screws not nails. That silver coated foamboard first, then the metal. I have 2 different skill saws, one with a wood cutting blade and the other with a metal cutting stone blade.
    My trailer sits on a slope, so I had to measure and cut the metal to match the grade of the land.
    Once painted up it looks great and will last the rest of my life. I don't like having to do things twice.

    I bought a mobile home and it had vinyl skirting - what a joke as when you ran a weed wacker along it - it tore it up. I removed all of it and replaced it with aluminum . Far better and lasts a lot longer.

I mean their is no videos on TH-cam that shows all that or at lest explain it good enough to follow them while you DIY.

    • @StraightArrowRepair

      You can just bend the metal to the corner. Usually i buy what is called rake and corner metal . It comes in 10 foot lengths normally but can be ordered longer . Then you measure and cut to the size you need . You do not need to fasten with screws . Although you can . Hope this helps you and leaves you and yours in good health.

    So do you not recommend vented skirting? Will watch your other videos - thanks!

    • @StraightArrowRepair
      @StraightArrowRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do not recommend plastic skirting because of deteriation at bottom caused by weed eaters or chemicals . easily gets damaged by lawnmower throwing into it. Most plastic skirting have venting built in which is a liability in winter because cold wind gets to your plumbing. Hope that helps

    • @michaeljohnston643
      @michaeljohnston643 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you run Steele in the direction that he has there’s a vent every eight or 9 inches so there’s no reason to add event into it however if you do solid boards if it’s allowed in your area then you would need to ventilate it

    Your thoughts please…

    • @StraightArrowRepair
      @StraightArrowRepair  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have been putting metal skirting up for over 27 years none have rusted out at bottom. Maybe a little rust but not anything but on surface . Regards the wood to the ground you will need to keep an eye on it . Perhaps spray it for bugs ect. It will not hold up as well . Still you did something and there are always those who will try to point out weaknesses. Sometimes I think of it as a benefit for me to look for weakness and try to improve . You should be proud . You built something where 80 %of the population doesn't. Just keep on on making yourself better.

      @@StraightArrowRepair Yes mine has rusted at the very bottom just A centimeter or two under the surface. But everything above The ground still looks brand new. Plastic will only be maybe 300 less than metal and generally has many problems if not total failure in 5 years and won't be cheaper 5 years from now whereas i have installed metal skirting that is still functioning and 25 years old

    How would you do the pieces under the decks if the deck is level with the top of the skirting?
