Loved your video. I share love for many albums. i was 16 & 17 in 72,
I was turned onto earlier music as I hung with friends who had graduated high school and my first boyfriend was 19 and a multi musician. So I also marched in anti-war protests (peaceful) in Vancouver Canada.. I had a large record collection but in 97 an Ex removed all my music, stereo, Bose system and guitar and my car etc. in 72 i went to Pink Floyd and an unknown Brit Band as Opener called
Jethro Tull. so good. I also have my
    BD in August 10th.
I miss al my music sooo much every day. I can hear many songs on line but not the same. I happened upon your video for 1st time,
today and was great. My boyfriend and I married in 73 and
as a musician he turned me onto Jazz. My family succeded in breaking us up by kidnapping me one Saturday. and he was my 1st and likely Real love. and Soul mates.
I went through many similar experiences at same time as you.
    Very cool. Thanks
    and I will follow
you going on from here........ Terri

1972. I turned 10 that year. For Christmas the year before I was given an little a m radio. It came with an ear plug. My parents would send me to bed at 8 pm, and I would lie in bed listening to the radio through an ear bud. It was great. The radio station I listened to was a locally owned top 40. I swear they played everything. Rock, pop, R-n-B, and country all on one station. I learned to love music that my parents never played. Unfortunately, I did what 10 yr old boys do - I broke the radio. It fell out of a tree where I had built a tree house with my friends

I turned 6 that year. I LOVED radio back then. Not only listening to music, but a friend and I used to camp out in the backyard (later, in grade school), and we would bring a radio out and listen to the Radio Mystery Theater, which replayed old radio mystery shows from the '40s.

    Hello Mr. Maslov,
My name is Avi Spielrein I'm from Israel, recently I came across with your channel and I'm enthusiastically watching your amazing brilliant outstanding

    Excellent as usual.
In 1972 I was a junior in high school and was buying records like crazy.
By the time I left for college in ‘74, I had over 500 albums, almost all of the ones you showed in this video.
It’s too bad I got rid of many of them when I started buying CDs and downloading music on iTunes.
I put my initials on the back of every album because we all were borrowing from each other.
There’s a special place in my heart for Hobo’s Lullaby; I listened to it again last week.
The vinyl’s kinda scratchy, but every scratch and pop brings back another memory.
I missed the draft by one year. My dad was in the army and went to Vietnam in 1969. Had the war and draft continued, my mom was going to make sure I wasn’t going to that war. Her best friend’s son was killed there. She had arranged for me to “visit” my aunt and uncle in Stockholm upon graduating from high school.

so brilliant...i could listen to you talk all day....and to end with randy newman...i got introduced to his music by three dog night...had most of the albums you showed...early bonnie raitt, so great...saw her back then at a college show, she was drunk and funny as hell...and of course, lennon and yoko...an album that, at the time, became problematic due to its 'immediate nature' of the news, but now, it's a great reflection of a time you and i both shared on our own respective coasts, when the political was very much a part of the personal...peace always my friend...rocky

Obscured by Clouds is the most underrated Pink Floyd Album . It’s great . Another 1972 classic is Carney by Leon Russell . 1972 was also the year that I graduated from high school, although I was a year older because we had grade 13 in Canada . It was a memorable year indeed . Great video !

Love these reminisces - those of us who are younger (10 yrs in my case) can learn a lot about how things were at the time, especially those of us who like the music from the 60's and 70's. Wasn't listening to top 40 radio yet in 1972 (I was 7 going on 8), but I switched elementary schools that year - something I remember well.

I was in 10th grade in 72, and I remember those albums I even remember bands like The Osmond Brothers and the Jackson 5. You showed some great Classic Albums wish I still had most of them, my favorite song on The Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street album was called "Sweet Virginia". That
Art Garfunkel, story was awesome I love hearing those stories.

In 1972 we could vote for the first time and I was thrilled to cast my vote for Shirley Chisholm. Perhaps our world would be different today if someone like her would have ever occupied the White House.
PS..I was totally into jazz in '72. Graduated high school in San Pedro. Had a blown out attempt to start college and ended up in the Navy. A bizarre year for me. So much happened my comment would have to be 10000 words long to describe it.

Thank you for this. Really enjoying the autobiographical content. I recently watched the 'Vietnam War' series produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Absolutely superb series, as was Burns' WWII series. Essential viewing if you want an unbiased view-point on what really went on and the inept leadership and decision-making. Ronnie Lane produced some great solo and collaborative work in the 1970s. He was a kindred spirit to George Harrison in many ways. I too had a lot of hair in the1970s, but none whatsoever nowadays.

I saw the Traffic tour with the Swampers as in Traffic on the Road album a very long time ago now.
Good stuff Norman, on to the next one.

    Hello Mazy,
Nice to meet you. I'm a 56-year old woman who absolutely loves music in all its formats, but I'm particularly fond of vinyl. I wanted to be a DJ when I was 15, but at that time in my country it was not considered a right profession for a 'girl'. Anyway, I've been watching your videos for some months now, and we have sort of the same musical tastes. Also, you have introduced me to great music, so thanks a lot. You've got a fantastic record collection and your music room is like Disneyland for music lovers. Keep doing all your videos, you have a fan here!!!

1972...WOW ! actually 70 - 72 were great years for music. Concerts were cheap (could afford 3 shows per week ) did not matter the style of music, we all owned it all ! Growing up in Toronto I had a lot of friends who were "Draft Dodgers" , and of course they brought different musics to my attention....Great memories. Thanks Mazzy

Wow , quite the epic video, I made it for the full hour and some!.I can't comment on the politics because it was before my time. Fascinating to hear your journey through this year.Picking up Art Garfunkel must have been a trip and hanging out.Shame you didn't get invited to his recording session!.My opinions on foreign policy are quite similar, therefore I don't blame you in the least escaping the draft. You showed some great albums.I love Sail Away and Sailing Shoes.I must revisit Son of Schmillson.Ziggy is epic, would have loved to have seen Bowie at this period of his career. That Poco album was really good. My roommate used to wake me up to that albums, a joint and some Annie Green Springs wine before work. Luckily I survived such irresponsible behavior. I think that my draft number was #64, but luckily (?) I had a car accident on the weekend before I was supposed to report. So many good albums from 1972. I was 19 going on 20. Thanks, Chris

Greetings from Vancouver Canada! Enjoyed the story about crossing the border. Border agents are special and I'm not going to try to claim one side is 'better' than the other. They are all doing their jobs! But what a treat to just 'drive into another country' huh? My first 'solo' trip to the US was in 1980 - 4 years out of high school. And have kept on going back! Visiting all U 'cousins'. Love travelling. Love the US of A.

Love you doing videos like this. Interesting how music can bring back memories of your life good and sometimes bad. For me, half an hour or just over 30 minutes is about my limit on TH-cam videos unless I am watching a documentary here. When video here starts becoming film length is hard to always find time to watch. Unless I watch in bits and pieces.
In the UK we have more coved restrictions now schools are open the virus number are climbing again. Many universities are in lockdown. Pubs are kicking out at 10pm now one hour earlier like that makes a difference. Groups of more than 6 people are banned. Thank goodness your here to entertain us and sometimes make us think about life in a different way.
I hope your family is all well Mazzy.
The Grateful Dead never made much of an impact in the UK so there is not a lot I can say about the band. I don’t know the music. Art Garfunkel in your car wow that’s a cool story. My dad once had Peter Green in his car in his young adult days. He met him in a night club and gave him a lift home.
I am a collector of Stevie Wonder albums. Soul music is a big thing with me. If you like Stevie then you must like Alicia Keys, she has a new album out now.
Curtis Mayfield did not like the film Superfly so he wrote the soundtrack to say the opposite of the film with anti-drug and anti-violence songs.

*Who Came First* is not a real solo album even Pete has said that years after it come out. Townshend had already participated with other artists on two previous albums in tribute to his guru Meher Baba, *Happy Birthday* and *I Am.* These albums were privately distributed in very small quantities in the UK. Soon after Decca asked Townshend for permission to release the recordings, as inferior copies were circulating in the US as bootlegs. Rather than re-issuing the original albums, Townshend decided to change the tracklisting and develop the project into his first "official" solo album. Three of Townshend's demos for Lifehouse were selected, along with two songs each from the earlier tribute albums and two additional songs.
Meher Baba (born Merwan Sheriar Irani; 25 February 1894 - 31 January 1969) was an Indian spiritual master who claimed he was an Avatar - God in human form or one of God's chosen people.
Meher Baba would often use the expression "Don't worry, be happy" when cabling his followers in the West.
The expression was printed on inspirational cards and posters during the 1960s. In 1988, Bobby McFerrin noticed a similar poster in the apartment of jazz duo Tuck & Patti in San Francisco and he was inspired by the expression's charm and simplicity. He wrote the song that was included in the soundtrack of the movie Cocktail and became a hit single the next year.

Mazzy and I are the same age and have very similar taste in music. I grew up in the Seattle area while he was in the Bay area. We seem to have seen many of the same shows on their west coast tours. He appears to be a bit more into the Psychedelic side of things while I was more blues and British blues rock oriented. Still interesting to hear the similarities. However, we do not share the same political views. Kinda ruined this video for me. I was looking forward to watching it as I graduated High school that year. Oh well I guess its his platform he can do what he wants with it. I guess I'll go back to watching season 2 of the current dumpster fire! Keep on keepin on, Mazzy.

Norm, I think I remember you from a rant you did 2-3 years ago. You must have had another channel, because the rant had nothing to do with music. It was a hilarious, and very well-done, political rant in which you basically were saying you didn't give a "f _ _ _" about woke liberals' feelings. I can't remember what the specific news event was that you were reacting to. But I haven't forgotten the rant.

Much later it was known that Nixon and McGovern became pretty good friends. No BS.

"Vast networks are being developed throughout the land by government and by private industries. In these systems, where they contain the record of the individual's thoughts, beliefs, habits, attitudes, and personal activities, there may well rest a potential for political control and for intimidation which is alien to a society of free men." [Senator Sam Ervin, February 1972] (Over a year before the Senate Watergate Committee... 4 months before the Watergate break-in...and 40 years before Edward Snowden.) [Jerry Voorhis, THE STRANGE CASE OF RICHARD MILHOUS NIXON (1973). 257]

All joking aside I associate years with the single releases. I buy lps years later but singles I liked I picked up asap. Plus another question I have a 1000 odd cassettes you never mention them. I went to see a famous guitarist once and when I got to the venue there was a.bloke outside having a joint. So I joined him. Whilst we were talking I told him I was going to try to get in free by pretending to be a reviewer. He laughed and said you don't have to just come in with me I'm the bloke they have all come to see. So I did .

1972 was the year Mazzelina had her sex change. I heard you were a groupie. You slept with groups like Sandpipers and New Christy Minstrels. But got beaten up by the woman in The New Edition telling you to take your love to town. Had they had to go to Vietnam they would be Greatful to be alive. Santana sleepy so sleepy. Should have hired living musicians. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We had proper music underground rock prog you name it we had it. London man. We were lucky we missed the hat revolution where everybody had to wear a hat. The implications can still be found today. You were a wimp.

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board in their official report shows that the cause of Ricky Nelson's plane crash (an on-board heater short-circuiting and catching fire ) is the correct cause of the crash. Hate the politics, nobody cares. Here for the rich knowledge of music. If i want BS i'll go elsewhere.

Exile was a fantastic double album, and I consider every song to be great, and to be finished. UNLIKE the White Album, in which half the songs were obviously unfinished and should not have been published.

You certainly are entitled to your opinion with politics but mixing it with music is always a turn off for me. Mr. Biden is the worst president in my lifetime and I’m 60. He does not speak for all Americans, you conform to his agenda or take a hike.
You had a few good albums in there mixed with some mediocre ones. The Paul Simon is a good one.

Appreciate your comment. Disagreeing in politics is fine. My complaint is the lies people believe and the attempts to disenfranchise of voting rights around the country. Let everyone vote and let the results stand.
