- Sifu Chris Bouguyon demonstrates the Tai Chi for Arthritis 32 movement forms from Dr. Paul Lam's Tai Chi for Arthritis Program. This is a gentle, modified Sun Style Tai Chi designed to help support strengthening, balance, core stability and mental focus in students with physical challenges such as arthritis. Because of the mind, body and spirit components of their training programs, Sifu Chris, founder of SimplyAware.com has also noted significant benefits in students with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, Fibromyalgia, Psoriatic Arthritis and many other forms of dis-ease.
Very smooth and all whole body movements. My compliments.
Very nice presentation Sifu Chris Bouguyon...smooth and well developed steps...thanks for posting!
This is a good performance! I have no problem with the speed, you should be able to vary the speed and still have a correct performance according to the principles. This performance is by a person who understands tai chi, and Momnotmrs's comment does not apply in this case, although agree that TCA is probably delivered by many health para-professionals who are not tai chi experts
I like this. This is what I hope to look like someday.
As I understand, Wu is the slowest form and Sun ("quick step taiji") is the fastest, with Yang and Chen in between. It's interesting to see the pace intended for Sun style.
Well done Chris. The speed with which you are performing is as "fast" as Sun Lutang's daughter performs in her instructional dvd for the 97 form. Sun style as you may know was/is referred to "nimble step" and is routinely performed faster than Yang as you mentioned. Fast or slow as long as taiji principles are used all is good. Slower allows for more internalizing I suspect. My video response shows how I "added" a couple of movements to the TCA forms. Enjoy Vic in IL
תודה.
how do i buy it...? im home need a regular dvd i can do everyday...this is a great start
good posture!
Like his rhythym, but would like to see him move MUCH slower --tai chi is not a race, and the slower movements are, IMO, more beneficial. Also, there are a lot more forms to this set.
Interesting. I know other Paul Lam forms and think he's done a good job of promoting tai chi. I do Yang and Chen styles. Can someone explain why, in Sun style, the fingers point upwards especially during Cloud Hands? And I don't want goofy 'it's about energy' stuff without a decent and detailed explanation. I've been doing and teaching tai chi for a long time and have found NO ONE who can give a good explanation. Experientially, I think the sensation of chi is stronger with the fingers pointing up and palms out but why? And what are the martial arts applications?
taichiplayer100 The cloud hands portion, in my opinion, record Sun Lu-Tang's past as a bagua practitioner; the brush knee, followed by the flying fingers (and stepping) can be seen in other Chinese sets like the needle-in-the-cotton.
+taichiplayer100 ....On the 8th day now. Body feels calm and relax. My pain markers down from 8 to 6. I think my case will a bit longer for I have been in heavy drugs for a while now. I’m happy with the progress so far. Feeling healthier is the best way. Go here ==> www.rheumatoidarthritisnew.tumblr.com
Just took and indepth 73 workshop. In Sun you point fingers up it opens up the joints and meridians so the Chi can flow better. You don't strain, you point up gently. It does make a difference
I'm actually taking a class in this through the Arthritis Foundation, and I truly believe this can't be taught correctly except by martial artists. My instructor has a background in dance, and she has NO idea of what the moves mean. Really, she tries, but I went online because the way she was performing the movements just didn't make sense.
...and Sun Style is profanation
Shifu not sifu
rubbish !!
